I recently moved to Chicago and was looking for a salon. I'm very picky when it comes to my hair since many other salons have a hard time getting my hair to the shade of blonde I want, but Tanya did a phenomenal job with my hair color! Everyone at the salon was friendly and greeted me with a smile. 9 months ago I left a review based on a positive experience I had at George the Salon. Since then I've gotten my hair done 3-4 more times. My satisfaction has slowly declined with each appointment. My most recent appointment (beginning of December) was for a full highlight. My hair takes longer than the time slot warranted for a full highlight so I always notify the front desk of that when calling to make my appointment. This time my hair session seemed rushed. My hair typically takes 4 -5 hours to do the coloring and toning process for a full highlight. It didn't take as long to apply the foils and coloring this time. Which explains why I see more roots and brown hair like I typically see with a partial highlight. Also, my hair stylist had another customer arrive while she was washing my hair so she had another woman finish washing it and grabbed another stylist to do my root melt and toner. My stylist never came back to look at my blonde to make sure the toner was on for the appropriate amount of time( I tend to pull a lot of gold but prefer the lighter blonde). The stylist that was assisting my original stylist never came back after applying the root melt or toner and told the woman washing my hair to wash it off when the second hand of the clock was on the 8. The woman began washing my hair 4 minutes before she was told to. I'm not confident that the woman washing my hair was a stylist because she was the person doing the dusting and cleaning. Furthermore, I was never introduced to this woman nor did she introduce herself to me. I would have preferred my stylist to at least assess my hair to assure the toner was in for the appropriate amount of time. This experience cost me around $250 without tip and without partaking in a blow dry or hair cut. Unfortunately, the prices increased and I wasn't notified when I made my appointment. I'm not satisfied with my experience and I shared with my stylist before leaving that I thought my hair looked more gold than light blonde. I will not be returning to this salon. read more

Julienne is hands down the best hair stylist you'll ever go to. It'll be sad if you have to move outside Chicago because you'll want to catch a flight and come back to her, at least for your haircuts. I prefer spending as little time as possible on my hair in the morning. I run most days and I wash my hair afterwards so I need a haircut that can air dry decently. Julienne's haircut makes it seem like I somehow style my hair. It's amazing. Go go go; you won't regret it and your hair will look great on the day you leave the salon and the months after! I have been following Julianne around for years. Now, 3 salons later, I believe she's found her "home". This is exactly what a salon experience should be, a true escape with the utmost in pampering. I have naturally curl hair, with which I have had a life long love/hate relationship. Julianne treats my tresses like no one else. The sign of a good cut? Being weeks overdue and still sporting a stylish mane. Julianne is a true wizard & artiste when it comes to hair, especially when you throw a few phenomenal Kerastase products into the mix. I was pleasantly surprised recently when I completed the E-Diagnostic at kerastase-usa.com to find the site recommended the exact same product combo Julianne has been using on my hair for quite some time, and with brilliant results I might add as her blow outs are the bomb, bar none! To say this place is amazing feels like an understatement. From Emily and Nicole, who keep my color looking fab & natural; to Kelsey, Lauren or Melanie, one of the other stylists I see in a pinch for a blow out when Julianne is booked; to the coordinators and the assistants who make me feel like a VIP each and every time I walk through the door. George has been the only man who has ever been able to give me bangs. :) I've been lucky enough to visit other great salons in the area, but nothing compares to George. He makes you feel like you are the only customer in the room at that moment while somehow also keeping an eye on his whole salon. Every time I leave this salon, I feel refreshed and my hair looks like something out of a magazine. You can tell he is invested in making you look just like you asked. He is meticulous, detailed and doesn't leave a single hair out of place. He is also cool enough to kind of tell you what he is doing while he is doing it so you always have a chance to ask or request something just a little differently. What I also really love is his honesty. I mean he isn't going to make me Michelle Williams so let's try and cut my hair as best as we can to look that way. I like the realism because I'd rather hear let's adjust than walk out looking off. Nicole is my favorite colorist at George the Salon. I love her ability to make your hair stand out yet somehow look like its never been colored at all. You want your hair to look different yet natural and she really has a gift with that. She is such an awesome woman to talk to you and makes you feel so comfortable while she works her magic. When I go to a salon I want two things: 1. A good cut and color (obviously) 2. And good service in an environment that isn't awkward or uncomfortable. After hearing rave reviews from my roommate about George the Salon, my expectations were exceeded when I made an appointment over Memorial Day Weekend. It was love at first sight. I was instantly greeted by a lovely front desk team, standing behind a beautiful glowing desk. I couldn't wait to see what Natalie, my colorist, had in mind for my hair. Mohammed was INCREDIBLE. I came in quite nervous as I was having bangs cut for the first time, and Mo quickly assuaged all of my fears. He's an obvious whiz behind the chair, and I left the salon feeling so lovely. As background, I (like many others) have had a couple devastatingly bad haircuts in the past, and I knew that if I were to get bangs, they'd have to be done right the first time. Love this salon! Natalie is the best with color! The first time I went to her - my hair was in shambles. It had been over processed and I had let it go for way too long. A friend recommended Natalie to me and I was so excited because my friends hair was looking better and better each time I saw her. She said Natalie was amazing with color - Ombre/Baylage in particular. She was not wrong..Natalie transformed my hair and in one session I had back my gorgeous mane and the best ombre I could have imagined. Since moving to Chicago, this is the only salon I've been going to. Have met with a few stylists but have stuck with Maud over the last year. Maud is amazing! Love her energy! A friend recommended George the Salon to me. Upon review of Yelp reviews, I booked an appointment with Maud. Maud SAVED my hair! My story - I had my highlights done at another salon and noticed my hair tone looked 'warm'. I am a natural light brunette with a lovely abundance of COLD blonde highlights. When I returned to have it fixed - cooler tone, my hair got warmer. Now I had blonde highlights with cooper undertones. The woman lifted my base natural color! She tried brown highlights, but looked worse! I got my money back never to return. I went to another salon, lifted toner, dyed, highlighted - still not good - warm. I took my friend's advice and went to see Maud. She was super patient with me and my stress/hair trauma to get back to my normal beautiful blonde. She listened, made a recommendation and we agreed on a plan. She noted it would take a few visits to get the results I was seeking - a process as my hair grows and she is able to work with my base color. I'm happy to report after a few visits with Maud, I'm 90% back to my lovely brunette base with contrasting cold blonde highlights. It's definitely a process, as time heals all wounds, hair needs time to grow. Maud is also a great stylist and cut my hair to perfection. I love a long bob and she delivered a beautiful cut. I met with Nicole for a hair consultation and she suggested a few things based on the pictures I showed and the day of my appointment she remembered everything down to the last detail. This review is specifically for hair stylist, Mohammad. I first started seeing Mo at Mixed and Co. salon, where I also get my hair color treated. Last July when Mo left Mixed and Co, I decided to give a few other stylists a shot out of convenience in order to keep my cut and color in the same location. After two hair cuts with other stylists I decided to go back to Mo. He is truly exceptional with hair, and I simply could not find anyone to match his abilities. Every time I see Mo, I leave feeling completely renewed and absolutely in love with my hair. His cuts are phenomenal. He truly listens to what I am looking for and executes to a T. If you have a specific hair cut in mind and bring an image he can pretty much match the hair cut. Whether a basic trim or a more technical cut, Mo can do achieve your look with ease. He not only focuses on an excellent hair cut but also on maintaining the health of your hair. After a damaging hair cut/ blow-out, he was able to cut my hair back to health. Did I mention he does the best blow-out in Chicago? I have never been loyal to a hair stylist prior to Mo! I recommend him whole heartedly to anyone looking for an expert cut/ blow-out.
