George's Greek cafe has the best (and probably only) Pastitsio around. Although we have only had George's for takeout, I am beyond satisfied with the quality of food here. The balance between all their dishes evoke the satisfaction you look for in eating amazing and fresh Greek food. Their patio does get busy as well as the street traffic in the area, but their indoor and outdoor seating is very beautiful. I would recommend George's to anyone in the area. read more

It's not just about the food (which is fabulous), but the atmosphere and staff make this place feel like home. It's so welcoming and the food tastes like it's made with love. I've been coming here for years (since I used to live in LB), but since moving to a new city, I still make the trek down here to enjoy my favorite go-to meal. The gyro meat it tasty and well seasoned. The kalamari (yes thats how they spell it) has the perfect seasoning to squid ratio. The dipping sauces are also great. The salad is so crisp and flavorful. And they give you a heaping amount, which I also appreciate. They're patio area is dog friendly ( which if you read any of my reviews....is a HUGE perk in my eyes.) My fur baby loved getting some pita bread and gyro meat for lunch. The staff is always friendly and attentive. They treat you like family here, and I love that! If you've never been, I recommend the gyro plate (or sandwich). If you want something lighter, go for a salad with a protein and their tomato soup! Please please please get the kalamari as an appetizer. I will continue to come here as long as they're open. read more

I have been away from Yelp for a little over three years, but yesterday Vesta and I had a wonderful lunch at George's Greek Cafe in Belmont Shore that made me want to come back and now that I have, I think I'll stay for awhile. I used to Yelp a lot, but sometimes stuff happens that changes your life. Vesta and I are photographers and our business in Reno took off and took a lot more time than we were used to, plus I'm a writer and I was working on a couple books, more time taken, and in addition we had a lot of difficult personal stuff we had to deal with, stuff no family should ever have to deal with, but we did. Then when we got everything under control and caught up, Covid came and stole our business, our freedom and a lot more. Before Covid, we ate out at least three times a week. And after it was over, (well it's not really over, but close) we swore we'd never hang out with strangers again and that meant never going to the movies again, never going to Costco again, never eating out again and never doing so much more again. And since our business was gone, we decided to move from Reno, a place we dearly love, back to Long Beach, where we grew up, because, we figured, if we couldn't go indoors with strangers, we could at least go to the beach. And we told ourselves we'd be really careful, but careful as we were, we still caught Covid. Fortunately, because we were so vaccinated, we had relatively mild cases. But even so, we still stayed in. Then awhile back, friends from back East came to town and they wanted to buy us dinner. And that created a dilemma for us, because we didn't wanna seem like a couple scaredy cats so we went to Belmont Shore and looked for what we thought would be the safest restaurant and of them all, and there are a lot, we picked George's Greek Cafe, solely because the tables in its parklet (curbside dining space that used to be curbside parking) seemed to be spaced farther apart than the tables in the other restaurant's parklets. And I must say that meal was maybe the best we'd ever had. Oh sure, maybe it was because it was the first time we'd been out to eat in well over a year. But a couple months later friends from France came and when they wanted to know where we wanted to go for dinner, we picked George's, because we so enjoyed our first time there so much. And now we're back to eating out, going to Costco and Malls and parks and Trader Joe's and Grocery Stores, so we can eat out wherever we want now, and we've tried some other restaurants and most of them have been pretty good. But for reasons I don't know, we haven't enjoyed them the way we have George's. So, yesterday, we decided to take a two and a half mile walk from home to George's for lunch and, low and behold, their lunch was as good as their dinner. And we really, really enjoyed the Saganaki, which is sort of a flaming cheese appetizer. Sadly, writing a Yelp review was the last thing on my mind when we started our walk, and because it was such a long way to go on foot, I didn't bring a camera. So now we have to go back in a couple days and have it again, so I can photograph either Nikki or Gaby, the two wonderful people who served us, lighting the cheese on fire and add the photo or photos to this review. Quick service and great food! I ordered online on Saturday around 5pm and was notified within 10 mins that my food was ready for pickup. When I got there I went to the outdoor table and gave them my name and they got me my order. It looked pretty busy so I'm impressed at how quickly they got my order. Friendly customer service especially from Jeremy S! I ordered the lamb chop and fries. The most outstanding thing about George's is the service. Yasmin was our server and she was awesome. Present without being intrusive and really, really helpful. For me, the food was a bit of a mixed bag. I thought the chicken kababs (we ordered them a la carte were outstanding. Seasoned to perfection and super juicy. The greek salad was very good. The hummus was good. And the soup (i always forget the name, but it's got lemon and rice) was bit disappointing. During the COVID19 safer at home times we are doing our best to support our local favorites. My husband and I were craving Greek so of course George's is our go to Greek. We ordered various plates to munch on for the day. It was our first time using the Yelp delivery option. The menu was quite confusing since it was apparently copied over by Yelp and not sent in by the restaurant. We spoke with Luis who was very helpful. He said he would keep an eye out for our order and make sure it came through as we planned. He did an excellent job at that. We started off with the four-dip appetizer: tzantziki, hummus, spicy feta, and kalamata spread. All of the dips were amazing. Next up we had the kalamari. It was good but the breading was too soggy. Maybe not a dish that works well for delivery. First time trying the hallumi, I was not a fan. The cheese was hard, and the tomatoes were tasteless. I make hallumi a lot at home so I know what good hallumi should taste like. First time trying the ground beef dolmathes. Wow! These were amazing. We would definitely order these again. First time trying the pastitso. The texture and flavors were excellent. Would defiantly order this again. We opted for paying extra for the garlic feta fries, unfortunately they were also soggy. We ordered 2 extra sides of pita. The amount was perfect for the number of dishes we ordered. For dessert we had the baklava. I am always a fan of the baklava here. Moist and flavorful. Overall, it was a great delivery experience. The food was made promptly and delivered as promised. I would order again but would be careful not to order anything that could arrive soggy. read more

I love Greek food. I'm so happy that George's Greek was open during the COVID pandemic. My sister is 9 months pregnant and has a son who just turned 4. Needless to explain, she desperately needed to get her son out of the house. With the current lock-down restrictions, there weren't many places she could take him and she certainly was in no condition to chase him around a park. Enter George's Greek. We had the appetizer combo, the Gyro plate, a chicken kabob plate and the boy had the kids mac n cheese with hot dogs. When he chose the mac n cheese with hot dog, i'm not going to lie, I thought that it was a strange combo. the appetizer combo came and he LOVED everything on it. I guess the love for Greek food runs in the family. Then his plate came. and there it was, old school mac and cheese (seemingly from a box) and hot dog weenies. And you know what? HE LOVED IT. He ate a bunch of it then asked to take the rest of it home. He NEVER does that. So all in all, it was a win. They also gave him an activity sheet with crayons so he was happily entertained. Our server was incredibly sweet. So I had never been to George's before today. This locations is great. I'm not a fan of lamb, so I stuck with things I was familiar with. Had the Tzatziki and hummus. Served with pita and cucumber slices. Both were very good. I'm a salt-a-holic so I added salt and pepper to both. Yum! Also had the Greek salad and added grilled shrimp. All the ingredients were very fresh and portions were just right. The large salad if good for sharing especially if you get appetizers. There's a cheese appetizer that whey flambé at your table. I didn't order it (cheese is not my friend) but two other tables ordered it and it's quite the presentation and looked tasty. Outdoor seating is nice for people watching but the indoor dining was very airy and felt alfresco too. The service was good and very friendly. They also have a bar for cocktails and you can order food there too. I'll definitely be back and maybe try the cheese appetizer (with some prep)! Lots of wines and a few beer selections too. In love with this place and the magnificent service. Our waiter was great and it made the experience that much better. The food was also really delicious. I had the Greek Chicken Sandwich, one of their customer favorites, and I really enjoyed it. It comes with a side of fries, rice or salad and I got their fries. I'm a big lover of fries so I eat them all the time but the seasoning on these really surpassed my expectations. My friends also really enjoyed their food! This is a great place for vegetarians since they have a lot of options! We hit this place on a Thursday night with another couple. George's has a couple of locations in Long Beach and one in HB. This is not the original location but it's definitely the best Greek food in the 2nd St. area. Service was excellent and you can sit inside or on the patio. Their hummus is excellent. The calamari was a bit chewy but everything else was excellent. I had a Mediterranean salad and topped it with a stuffed salmon. Just delicious. Their portions are enormous so be prepared to eat. The service and the food quality went down hill. We really loved eating at this place especially after a good workout paddle boarding. The last couple time we ordered a Greek Salad with chicken it seem like they took premade salad out of the bag with some day old dry chicken and put it on a plate. We should of thought something was wrong when no one was there eating except for us. The manager said he was sorry for the bad food and service but did nothing about it. We ended up eating next door at the Mexican food place and that was EXCELLENT!!! What a great place! My only regret is not having found it sooner! Wow! Spectacular meal of lamb and potatoes with salad. The portion was generous enough to share! The house pinot noir was the perfect pairing. My daughter and I went on a Friday at 5pm just before enjoying the Christmas lights of Naples.
