From the moment I walked in the door, ambience was great, service perfect and the redfish was oh so good!

I was really disappointed with our experience at Georgie's in Georgetown. We started with the hush puppies, which were more like dense, deep-fried cornbread than actual hush puppies. Not a great start. I also ordered a cup of clam chowder, and this was honestly a first for me--there wasn't a single piece of clam in it. Even canned soup manages to include some clams, so that was pretty surprising and disappointing. I ordered the fish and chips--the fries were okay but extremely over-salted, and the fish itself was completely tasteless. I'm not even sure what kind of fish they use, but it didn't come across as fresh or high quality. My wife ordered the salmon, which came with what they called a "salad." It was pretty bad--chewy, clearly not fresh, and overall unappetizing. Being this far from the coast, I understand seafood can be challenging, but that makes it even more important to maintain quality. Trying to salvage the experience, I ordered a piña colada, only to be told the bar doesn't even have a blender. Neither of us finished our meals, which says a lot. Given the quality and what I've since read from other reviews, I'm honestly glad we didn't push through the food. As someone who's eaten at a lot of good restaurants over the years, I'd strongly recommend going somewhere else--especially for seafood. They might be better off sticking to burgers, because seafood clearly isn't their strength. read more

First time visit for dinner on an early Friday night before seeing a show at the Palace Theater. Had drinks, apps, and mains and all were creatively delicious! If you enjoy a rye old fashioned, then you must try the 8th Street Rye - the smoke makes it unique and very tasty. The Tuna Poke Tacos app has a very nice bold flavor from the ponzu. For mains, we had the halibut special and the branzino; both were perfectly prepared and very flavorful. Service was a bit uneven due to a very busy night, but our server was very personable. The open room is loud when busy, so just be prepared for it. Overall, first impressions were excellent and we will return, for sure! read more

The overall ambiance is great! We thought the place was decorated with a fun/classy vibe. All of the food was really good!! Some of us thought the portions were a little smaller than normal. The Mexican Martini was not great. I prefer a bit more kick of flavor in those, so I went with a jalapeño margarita after & that was way better! They should add it to the menu. Service was very attentive, but almost to the point of pushy. Advised to get our order in because more people were starting to come in and then tried to persuade us to not order drinks that weren't on the menu because it was going to take longer. Made a whole comment about having to go to the back to get a jalapeño for the margarita. Funny enough, the drink took no longer than any others. Maybe they were just trying to be helpful, but it came off differently‍ We did get free pie for our birthdays which was a nice touch! read more

Disappointed. I gave feedback to both the server and the manager during our meal and they both responded very well. I ordered the fish and chips. The best thing on the plate was the coke slaw. Unfortunately, it was a tiny portion served in a silver condiment dish. The French fries were lukewarm warm and not seasoned well. The fish was piping hot and the batter light and crispy, but had NO flavor. Both the fish itself and the batter were flavorless. The tartar sauce was lacking any distinct profile. It wasn't tartar sauce and it wasn't just straight mayonnaise. When I told the waiter that the French Fries were lukewarm and not seasoned, he offered to send out fresh ones. The fresh ones were hot, but still not seasoned. I asked for salt for the fish and he brought that out with the new fries. Would I go back? Maybe. The drinks were very good. read more

The ahi tacos were excellent!! The wait staff was fantastic and the overall restaurant was clean professional. I wouldn't hesitate to take a client there for lunch. Had a reservation for a Wednesday night and wasn't seated until 30 minutes after the reservation time due to lack of tables (there were two tables that were empty for 30-45 minutes while we waited that were for slightly larger parties that had reservations though). We didn't get our drinks until about 20 minutes after we were seated. During dinner we were never asked if we wanted additional drinks, etc. When it came time to pay, there was a surcharge of 3% to use a credit card. While I've seen this before, I wasn't expecting it at a restaurant with $30-$40 entrees. While the food and drinks were pretty good, I wouldn't return. There are plenty of other restaurants with good food and service with comparable or lower prices. read more

We showed up around 4:30 on a Friday (with no reservation) and were given a perfect table at the front! Service was amazing- attentive, respectful, helpful. And the food was delicious! My husband had the gumbo which he rated highly, and we both had fish and chips. The single piece of fish was large, thick, and perfectly prepared. Went on a date nite with my wife. We're new to the area and had a recommendation from a tag agent. The Drinks were Great! Ordered oysters on half and they were Delicious! We decide to order and split the gumbo, and the fried shrimp po-boy. The gumbo came fist and it was over cooked (burnt). It tasted bitter. We held out hope for the poor-boy...well the shrimp was good but the slaw was way over salted! The Service was Very good and atmosphere was good. Maybe we caught them on a off night. Parking: Might be tough but in general you should be able to find something in a block or so radius. Food: We had ceviche, beet salad, and sea bass. It was all very good! Drinks: We didn't drink that night but they looked good and hope to be back to try one! I will say that Georgetown, Texas has mainly crappy fast food, rarely healthy....mostly something fried, overly sugared/salted, and/or not prepared properly. I think that this was a breath of fresh air in town. Only wish is that seating was more intimate and laid out in a way that was cozy. Great new seafood restaurant for Georgetown. Excellent knowledgeable wait staff; fun ambience if a bit too live acoustically. I had the smoked fish dip: Creative taste; more fish-salad-type consistency but fantastic; especially on their perfect home-fried potato chips., Great! I also had the Gumbo: Great I'm sure for a true Cajun; but above my Midwestern pay grade on the Scofield scale. All told, a terrific taste experience. I'll be back. read more

Super cute restaurant small well lite bathrooms are disgusting though. We were sat right away on a Sunday evening. Restaurant was 1/2 full I'd say. Waited a good min to be greeted Katie was a fantastic server. The bartender was not we wait 16 min for our drinks we were finished with the pimento cheese app by the time our drinks finally arrived. My drink wasn't great straight gin my husband liked his rye cocktail. The app chips had no salt which was a theme no salt on any of the food and the fig marmalade was barely there. I'd pass on going here. I wouldn't go again. Oh ordered the Brussels sprouts kinda sweet they were ok fish n chips were ok fish was hot fries were not and we ordered them well done and they weren't slaw was good not vinegar based tartar was tasty ordered ceviche was weird how big the tomato chunks were compared to the cuts of fish that was culinary turn off plus the chips had no salt...again. Everything we tried on the menu was delicious --- from the poke tuna tacos, to the roasted beet salad, to the ceviche, to the chili dusted red fish, to the sea bass, and top it off with flourless chocolate cake -- yum!!! And the drinks were wonderful!! Our waiter, Graham, was very knowledgeable about the menu choices and very prompt with his service. I highly recommend Georgie's!!! We just heard about this place, it has only been around 3 months. Great location off the Georgetown Square and the interior is light and airy. We were greeted as we came in, there are two seating option regular height chairs or tall chairs. The service was very good, Beth our server was attentive and helpful. We started off with 2 appetizers, the Roasted Beets were excellent and I liked the Fried Green Tomatoes (my wife didn't like the spices in the sauce, allergies). The entrees were just as good. I loved that they use Gambino bread fresh from NOLA for their Fried Oyster Po'Boy. My wife raved about the Shepherd's Pie, most often it is done with hamburger but they used Short ribs and it was definitely a step up. The Bread Pudding was good but we made the mistake of letting it cool while we talked. Definitely a repeater. read more
