Visiting my daughter in the Louisville/New Albany area, we wanted breakfast from a non chain restaurant. We turned to YELP of course and found Geraldine's Kitchen. We put the address in our GPS and discovered we could not actually get to it via car due to construction. We ended up calling the diner to figure out where to park and find the restaurant. The restaurant was small but cute inside and the menu is typical diner food. We ordered a loaded hash brown platter with my eggs over easy. The biscuits and gravy with a scrambled egg and sausage on the side plus a short stack of pancakes and coffee. So this was a typical breakfast, the only stand out was the biscuits and gravy. It was full of large pieces of sausage (the only reason my daughter ordered an extra piece of sausage was because she is used to very little sausage from other places) and the gravy itself tasted like it was made from scratch. We talked about that sausage and gravy the next morning. If it weren't for the construction, we would have went back for just the biscuits and gravy and the friendly service. This is a great breakfast or brunch place to stop by after the Jeffersonville farmers market. They have such a large menu with many different varieties. After visiting the Louisville Slugger Factory,we crossed the river and found Geraldine's for lunch. In the midst of road construction sat a quaint building welcoming us in. The bright and cheerfully decorated dining room was a bright spot in the day. Our server, Nicole, was awesome. She was so friendly and helpful! The menu had lots of familiar and unique offerings. I got the apple walnut salad - it was big and filling and delicious. My husband got the BLT and really enjoyed it. If I ever get back I want to try the apple grilled cheese sandwich. We decided to give it another try this morning and walked into a fairly empty restaurant at 10 AM on a Sunday morning. there were three empty booths and multiple empty tables yet when we checked in a party of four we were told it would be at least 30 minutes before we could be seated??? No explanation was offered, and the couple standing next to me just kind of grinned at me and communicated that they shared the same frustration. I went here because the server at my beloved Cluckers said she works at Geraldine's and we should come in there for breakfast. I got an omelet that had everything in it....I mean everything! They forgot the jalapenos but I didn't complain. Service was great. Restaurant was very clean. There are a few tables outside also. But we ate inside where we had a little drama show when the owners got into it. Something must of happened prior to this little love quarrel because the wife just made a simple statement and the husband raised his voice and got mad. I was embarrassed for the wife and the staff. A small, cute restaurant in southern Indiana that gives you the feeling of being home. (Side note: pretty sure we had the same tablecloths growing up.) We were seated immediately. They have a mixture of booths and tables available. The menu had a lot of variety, including a mix of drinks available for breakfast. Our waitress was polite and helpful as we ordered and checked in on us throughout our meal. Overall I enjoyed the 3 cheese omelet. The hash browns, which do include onions, were also fantastic. The onions give it the right amount of flavor. The portions were not to much, but I left full. Some important things to know before going. The use paper straws instead of plastic for their drinks. Though I could have had a "free" continental breakfast at my hotel, I decided to venture out early for breakfast at this breakfast/lunch spot based on the Yelp ratings. So glad I did! First, it was just a couple blocks from my hotel, so I didn't have to worry about finding any street parking. (It's free, just fills up fast.) I also got there right as they opened at 7, so I didn't have any lines or waits to contend with. I walked in and though I didn't see any waitress, I saw the chef through a wall cutout and said "Hello". I quickly came out to greet me with menu, utensils, napkin, and offered me coffee. He headed back into the kitchen and soon, my waitress was there to take my order. I decided to go with a Western Omelet and a "small" orange juice which I would have considered large at my own home. I looked around the dining room while I waited. The main dining room has five bar stools to sit at the counter, a row of bench seating, and a few 4-top tables down the middle of the area. There is a bit more seating by the south windows and another small room on the north end with more seating. Bright yellow walls and floral tablecloths gave the place a feeling of someone's home that I was guest in. My order arrived and the omelet came with my choice of side (wheat toast for me). The omelet was filled with three kinds of bell pepper, red onion, Pepper Jack cheese, and plenty of cubed ham. The flavor was great and the ham was especially nice since there was enough to get a chew. The flavor stood up to the other ingredients without being masked. I think I'll get thicker ham at home and dice it in my own! The bill arrived at my table without having to ask for it and I paid at the counter when I was ready. Coffee was topped off when it got about half empty and I love that it had good flavor and was immediately drinkable without scalding. I insist on my coffee being ready to drink with my meal if a place wants a 5-star from me. It's a must! Just okay food but the hash browns are covered excessively with pepper, it made them inedible. The biggest positive was how quick they were.

While in IN for hubby's birthday we looked for a good brunch place on Yelp and this place came up. I was worried when we turned on the street and it was gravel but the quaint feel inside of the restaurant put me right at ease that we're at the right spot. I read the story of how the restaurant got started hanging by the entrance because I find it I interesting. The menu is a typical breakfast and lunch fare. Lots of pork options which don't suit me but I found a couple choices that were up my alley. I went with a half order of Rosies omelet which is just eggs, cheddar, spinach and mushrooms with a side of turkey bacon. And it said you can substitute your bread for French toast so that's what I opted to do. Everything was tasty, even the coffee. My only complaint is the slow service because they were slammed and only had 2 ppl working front of the house. I'd recommend this to anyone in the area. I don't live in IN so I won't be venturing out of my way to come. read more

My husband and I needed to look at lighting options at Menard's in Jeffersonville IN so decided to find a new to us brunch spot. Geraldine's offered a discount with Yelp check in, had good reviews overall, & looked to have a varied menu selection. We decided to stop in and give it a try! We were promptly greeted & seated, drink orders were taken, & we were given menus. There were so many delicious options at fair prices that it took us a bit to make our breakfast decisions. Hubby opted for the covered hashbrowns (didn't catch exact name on menu), & he added on a sausage patty a la cart. He enjoyed his meal but thought that for close to a $2 added charge, two sausage patties should have been brought vs one. Also, his biscuit was seemingly smothered in melted margarine and possibly pan seared, vs a typical fluffy biscuit that customers can butter (or not!). I ordered two slices of French toast with a side of fruit and a 1/2 spinach, mushroom, cheese omelet. The French toast was on Texas toast bread and was your basic general French toast with a sprinkling of powdered sugar and standard syrup vs a real maple syrup option. It was good but nothing particularly noteworthy. The omelet was delicious & I loved having the 1/2 omelet size option at a fair price. Service was friendly, decor was cute, seating was cozy, and we hope to return to sample the lunch menu. read more

This restaurant just recently opened after what gad occupied the location closed due to the owners retirement. This is a whole new deal, offering breakfast and lunch...kinda a big shame that Jeff Boat recently closed as I am sure they would've kept this place busy. We can for lunch just after noon on Sat. We seated ourselves and while busy, it wasn't packed. My friend ordered the grilled cheese sampler plate and I was happy with my selection of the ham and cheese when he said that was his favorite of the 3 he tried. I upgraded to tots, which were good and added a piece of German chocolate cake that was the days featured dessert. I had a coke and my friend had 2 bottles of the sweet tea (no free refill bc bottled) and the bill was about $20. Our server was nice but there was an influx of guests not long after we came in (closing time is 2pm) which seemed to leave them short handed but we got what we needed. The only thing I didn't care for was the single check without cost. It isn't added up until the checkout process which is handled up front. I will be back to check out breakfast soon. read more

This is the kind of restaraunt that a Yelper might hestitate to give a 5 Star rating or write a positive review because then "my spot" might get too popular and I won't get a seat, lol! Our Saturday morning breakfast group wandered into Geraldines a couple of months ago and what a teriffic discovery! They offer a complete menu, but their breakfast offerings are a step above. Fast, friendly and attentive service combined with a homestyle environment and very reasonable prices and you've got - say it with me - a hidden gem. I was pleasantly surprised with Wall Street. The last time I dined here, was about 5 years ago. It was very salty. This is a local cafe, older cafe. This is much different than the newer local restaurant in Louisville. Different doesn't mean worse or better. The food was really good. My Western Omlette didn't have any other meat, which I was disappointed about, but it was huge and so good! The bread was also delicious! The pancakes were also good. If you are one of those kind that eat out all time and rarely cook at home then Geraldines is a good fit for breakfast. Especially if you live close. It is basic routine breakfast fair and they do a good job. Portions are good and price matches. The seating and decor are nothing special and the back part is drab. The staff are friendly but seem nervous and hurried. It could be they are still nervous about Covid measures. I like it when businesses and restaurants seem to have settled into the norm of it all and are chill about it. The pancakes are big but basic box mix type. The omelets big and good. The food is very good but they need to figure out a few things. Waitress acted like she could care less if the food was right, refilling your coffee or even check on her tables. She waited almost ten minutes before even coming to the table even though there was two waitresses for four tables. Also due to their location they have an occasional homeless person come in an occupy a booth. Management needs to just tell them to leave if they are not ordering food. My boyfriend and I found Geraldine's on a whim one weekend morning trying to find a good brunch compromise. We had never seen Geraldine's in Jeff before but I am so glad we know what we know now. This little local business is full of friendly faces and amazing, home cookin' type food. The prices are cheap and the portions are large. I had the breakfast burrito which was very vig and flavorful (with salsa and sour cream) and an order of the yogurt with granola and a scoop of fruit. No way could I eat all of this and it was only $10. My boyfriend got a half order of loaded tots, which was massive by the way and so yummy.
