This will be quite a long review but I do recommend reading until the end if you want to save yourself a lot of money, time, and frustration . I really wanted to like this place because the people at the front were fairly nice and I needed a good mechanic that I could trust. Unfortunately, my experience here was diabolical. I brought my BMW here regarding a severe safety issues: a loud popping noise when turning, popping noises when accelerating or braking, and a heavily skewed steering ratio requiring excessive wheel input to turn. I expressed these issues and had the workers test drive my vehicle. This was diagnosed as a failed engine mount. I explicitly questioned this diagnosis multiple times, and each time, was assured that the diagnosis is correct. Trusting their expertise, I approved the work to be done as well as break repairs which totaled around $3500. Upon picking up the vehicle after the repairs, I continued to have the exact same issues and nothing had been resolved. I returned the vehicle to the shop a second time and was told the newly installed engine mount was "defective" and would need to be replaced a second time, again dismissing my questions of this diagnosis and insisting that the engine mount was the root cause of my problems. Since this was the shops error, they informed me that they would pay for my rental car which they had made arrangements for through enterprise, just down the street from the shop. Once I dropped my car off and went over to enterprise they had no reservation for me and had no idea what I was talking about. I received a message from the shop the next morning stating that they were working on my vehicle and they were informed of the error at enterprise. They reassured me that everything was now taken care of with the rental car. When I went to pick up my car, it was after hours, so I received my key through a lockbox system and went to go return the rental car. When I went to enterprise to return the rental car, I had asked them if everything was straightened out with the shop, and again they had no idea what I was talking about, so I ended up paying for the rental car out-of-pocket, even though the shop had informed me that they would pay due to their error. After picking up my car a second time, I am continuing to have the exact same issues. The dangerous steering behavior and the popping noises during turning, accelerating, and braking are still completely unresolved. Because an engine mount holds the engine block and is mechanically separate from the steering system, replacing it twice has done absolutely nothing to address my steering rack, column, or suspension. This shop repeatedly pushed an incorrect diagnosis which has cost me $3500, despite my repeated questioning, and has failed to fix critical safety defects. I have since contacted this shop and requested a refund for the unnecessary engine mount repairs, while still agreeing to pay for the other services and the rental car. I have not gotten a response and have just been ignored. Do not take your car here. They are not trustworthy and frankly don't seem like they know what they're doing. Also, a little recommendation for the shop: maybe don't hit on your woman customers during the test drive, it already makes us uncomfortable to be in a car with a stranger. Is the rejection part of the reason you took advantage and are now ignoring me? This is embarrassing for your shop! Unfortunately since there has been no response, I will be submitting a formal consumer protection complaint and initiating an investigation with the California Bureau of Automotive Repair. read more

Ownership has changed over the years. I used to bring my previous Porsche all the time I called to get a quote for maintenance told them I had my factory parts. They gave me the quote. Things were good then on my way there they gave me a text saying they don't take customer parts. So I asked him the price I was quoted was that going to include their spark plug. He said no, it would be plus the parts. The person I spoke to previously is no longer there of course there is a reason for that. They new owner and staff need to give honest and thorough quotes and stick to them. Waiting to the morning of my appointment on the way there by text is unacceptable. It feels like bait and switch. I understand mistakes happen but if they would've said that they would go ahead and include the spark plugs this time for the price I was quote I was given I would've been fine. This European car repair shop has been my go-to ever since I moved in Simi Valley two years ago. They've been doing a great job on my cars. My latest appointment was last minute but the guy I talked to got me in the next morning. I shared to him the importance of servicing my car first thing before I head to work. Obviously, I waited in their comfy lounge chairs. While I was relaxing, I observed that they have a personnel who moves the cars on the lot. He came in and talked to one of the guys behind the counter and told them about a particular car that he drove and witnessed white smoke coming out from the hood closest to the windshield. After I heard their conversation, I didn't care much because it's probably not my car but still raises a concern. Time came and my car was done on time. Couple days after before my usual business trip, I normally charge my car's battery. When I lifted the hood, I was shocked with the spillage of oil all over. It stained the plastic cover near the windshield and discovered multiple tiny drops of oil everywhere in the engine bay. After funneling the events happened while I was in the shop, this explains why they used almost 6 quarts of oil but only charged me for 5. I insisted to pay for the extra quart of oil but the son's owner says not to worry and it's a discount. All of the detailed events I mentioned made sense what may happen. Did their tech forgot to properly close the oil cap, which cause the oil spill and soiled the engine bay? All I wished was they would own this mistake and correct it by cleaning the mess BEFORE I drove away. Even if they offer to clean-up the mess I still wouldn't consider going back. Can't trust this shop anymore. I guess it's time to look elsewhere. read more

I have been a long time customer but 1st time reviewing. The entire staff and especially David the advisor are truly amazing. I brought my 2014 MBZ S550 in for what I thought was going to be an entire engine replacement. David right away assured me that they would figure it out quickly and advise me of his recommendations. Tl;Dr: this shop is friendly, very reasonably priced, and did excellent work on my 2013 Audi S4. I will definitely be back, thank you to Dave my service writer and Ibrahim my technician! I brought my S4 in for replacement of motor mounts and a bunch of other unrelated part installs that I didn't have time to handle myself. Unlike other shops I have tried before, GAS had no problem accepting all the parts I provided and installing them per manufacturer instructions. Throughout the whole process I was kept informed and even got to go back into the shop and talk to the tech and examine removed parts without having to request. Everyone I interacted with was friendly, and casual banter left me feeling confident in the knowledge level of all the employees I interacted with. I have a German car and two other non German cars. I used this shop to service my German car for years. It was a friendly family business but I heard recently it is under new ownership now...mmm. So a couple of months ago my German car had a dead battery and obviously I want to give this shop a chance for my business on an emergency replacement battery. Service is good took about 2hours although I'm sure labor was much less. But the total cost for this battery replacement service was about $450. I was shocked by this price! Stupidly I checked for other shops' battery pricing afterwards. Local Firestone shop cost about $270 while even my dealer shop costs only about $325. Flash forward to recently I had service done on my other cars using a super nice mechanic nearby. He told me he can also do battery replacement for German cars for less than $250. Now I feel really ripped off by this shop and will not give my business to them again!! Makes me feel even better that my other mechanic can service German cars too...he did a full inspection, fixed check engine light, oil change, filter change, coolant flush for only $382 total. Now that's value! My advise to all others is to request compare estimate before using this shop. This place seems overpriced with services not worth the value. read more

I spent 1600 for repairs and my car is still has the same issue I originally went in there for them to fix. I took my Audi in for 1 issue, and they sold me on everything else but what I needed. It's an auto shop with your address, and not a beauty school that I have receipts for. You can get hung up on the color, tell me, I'm confused as if I hit my head and wandered into another auto shop spending money on repairs. If you want to continue to try and discredit my customer experience with your shop, fine. I have $609 I spent and paperwork that says otherwise. So thanks. 2. I didn't make the initial post after I left, I'm too busy for that. I posted it the next morning. ;) You spoke with my husband on the phone. HE made the decision to give y'all a third chance, not me. He wanted the codes you stated you would give him on the following Monday. 3. We did arrive at your shop at 5:30pm that Friday. Not sure what to tell you about the door being unlocked. Perhaps it was because you still had customers inside? My husband and I both arrived at your store after picking up our child and arrived at your shop at 5:30pm. There was a gentleman at the counter talking with two other male employees. Two ladies behind your counter, NOT MAKING PHONE CALLS. An older female customer to the right of me and another woman sitting on a bench/chair by the door when I walked in. You act like I'm a Karen who just wandered into an auto shop. I have worked with many wonderful mechanics and worked on vehicles before with them. Sadly, my trusted mechanic retired, and I simply didn't have time to shop around for another. So yeah, I took advantage of the free service that GAS proudly advertises down the street from me. Keep in mind I understand that diagnosing a vehicle is not often a simple task. The issue was not that it was taking too long for you guys to arrive at a diagnosis. It's that there was NO communication on next steps or indication your team was going to communicate anything for that matter. Your team made it seem that with appointment you had the time to diagnose and follow up same day. When my husband brought the vehicle back, you quoted around $1100-$1200. Coils est at $330e same parts located at a local commercial auto shop at -$120e. Coils, sparks, mount, etc. repairs were completed at a fraction of the cost. ;) Sure you can say that your parts are cheaper than the dealership, but the reality is my repairs were done without your inflated mark up. Regarding the vacuum hose, my husband did mention not to complete any repairs until the shop had contacted him back. He was not informed of that fix until he asked about it. So, once again, no one communicated that work was going to be done. Also, if it was such a burden then perhaps you should've charged for that repair. But I guess that would have required picking up the phone to inform us that was going to be the case. 4. Reading some of these reviews another SMART owner called you out and you said that you didn't get a "thank you" for "free service". If GAS is burdened by that "Free service" then don't offer it. No one is forcing you to provide the service. That burden is yours, not on the consumer. You're in the wrong industry if you're in it for gratitude. Especially when your shop lacks customer service skills that are deserving of that thank you. It saddens me that a shop owner would rather argue semantics with a customer to save face, rather than own up to the mistakes made by your team and utilize the experience to better your business practices. It's shows a thin skin and a lack of integrity. You may praise the positive reviews you receive from customers, however it's acknowledging the faults and failures with equal weight that better impacts the community you claim you serve. I have an older Mercedes that i purchased about 7 months ago. I have been to this shop twice now. The first time was for a head light that had gone out. When I went to pick up the car, Gino says no charge, it's just a bulb. Now I have a service required notice on the dash board. I take the car German Auto Service. I tell Gino the car doesn't ride right. The ride feels spongy at freeway speeds. I leave the car. Now I get a call from the shop and it's the required service, 2 front struts, new filters, a belt and a pulley and 2 lower control arms. . Now I sit down and wait for the price. The price was beyond fair. The work was finished in a day. When I went to pick up the car, Gino offered to show me the old parts. Nice touch but not necessary on my end. I leave and when I get on the freeway to come home the car ride is exceptional. The car seems to hold the road way better. The car went from grandmas car to a more sporty feel. Took my BMW there as I had a good experience before. I wasn't aware it changed ownership. My car wouldn't pass smog for some odd reason and the air condition was blowing hot air. I had to tow my car there. It sat for 3 days then I was told I needed a hose and Freon and the cost was 1200.00. I called the BMW dealer and asked if he had ever heard of this so-called hose my car needed and the BMW dealer said no they've never heard of it. I called back spoke to whoever it was and he said so are you calling me a liar I said I'm telling you what the BMW dealer said they've never heard of this hose before we'll come get your car. I said that's fine. I will come get my car. I had to get my car towed home. They would not even help me start it. They told me they had put free on in it. This was probably at the beginning of the year. Fast-forward to this week car has been sitting in my driveway for a year because I can't get it smogged,. I finally get it to the BMW dealer. They looked at the car called me and told me easy fix. There was one hose line that was wide-open. There was one hose line that had a screw stuck in it to plug it up. That's why my car wouldn't pass smog and that there was a little tiny leak at the port of the air conditioning unit and that was it Ok these people knew that had the car three days , they tried to get me to buy a part that the car didn't need and charge me $1200 for it The BMW dealer diagnosed it within a hour, They had it for three days. I am appalled and totally believe they did this because I am a woman and they thought they could get away with it. I believe the original owner would not appreciate what this business has turned into. I would never ever take my car there again. People who wanna charge you for something you don't need and actually charge $1200 for it when it was just a loose hose they knew it they seen it but didn't tell me they wanted to charge me $1200 for a hose. I didn't need , unbelievable. They're not the only ones that did this the first repair shop I took it to is the one that did this in the first place so I wanna expose both of them for what they've done if you're a woman beware they think they're smarter than you and they're not. Side note both repair shops German auto and you save auto the ones that first of all did this to my car and then second of all covered it up and tried to make $1200 off of it. Both wanted to buy the car yeah they wanted to give me an unbelievable amount for the car. I may be a female, but I'm not stupid like obviously they are. It's sad, but it's true. This is what they are doing and so my advice to everybody would be take the car into the dealer. They don't lie cheat. You don't need out an outrageous amount of money when they knew the hoses all they had to do was be put back on but they didn't do it and they didn't tell you they wanted $1200. What a shame people will do anything for a buck. Won't they ? And yes to you who asked me if I was calling you a liar the answer is yes because you are a liar. I have proof it was verified through BMW.. You also are a crook trying to squeeze money out of people for parts. Exceptional service! This mechanic shop deserves every bit of a 5-star rating. They replaced the fuel injectors in my Mercedes CLA 250 which fixed the rattling engine issue that I was dealing with. It was so much easier to deal with the mechanics here than the dealership that kept trying to upcharge me on every little thing. Saved a bunch of money and it was convenient. I'm no car expert but the rattling is gone, the engine light is gone, and I paid way less than what the dealership wanted. Took a used 325i on Friday to have it checked out and make sure the check engine light being on was not a major issue prior to purchasing this car for my Daughter (her 1st car). Well they stated the Car is in real good condition and charged me a nominal fee plus topped off my fluids. 5 days later (Thurs) light comes on again. I return to have them check it out. Young childish girl said they couldn't see my car until next week monday or tuesday. Drove over to German Auto Doctor (Saw me immediately), and within several hours told me there are several things wrong with the car. The cost is about $3,100. Brought my 2008 SmartCar in because the AC motor stopped working. I had a new fan motor installed a year ago, so I suspected the problem was caused by something else. After "diagnosing," the GAS folks told me that the AC controller unit needed to be replaced at a price of $350 and it would take two hours to install. That came to $600. I thought the price was ridiculous, so I drove to my old mechanic (40 miles away). He found it was the #4 fuse and replaced it. (I also looked up the part online and found it to be about $40.) So GAS gave me either (A) an inflated price because they did not want my business (old guy driving old car... could be), (B) they are incompetent, or (C) they are overpriced. The shop is spacious and spotless; the floors where the mechanics worked was highly polished and there was BMWs on all the lifts. So I think reason (C) is most likely. I've been taking my car to my trusted mechanic in Alhambra for years only to find German Auto Specialist has been right under my fingertips for years. My mom mentioned she saw a German auto shop near our gym, so we decided to stop by when my diesel fluid low light went on. We were greeted by Gino. He was extremely nice and helped us right away. I let him know what was going on and if we needed an appointment. He immediately took care of us, whizzed my car around, and resolved the issue in minutes. Just got my car back from GAS (German Auto Specialist). Gino, as usual, took great care of my car. It needed its 5,000 mile oil change (synthetic) and was due for some other services. I asked them to do a full brake fluid flush and coolant drain and flush since it has been a few years. I am always impressed with their service and friendliness. They care about you as a customer and they care about your car! Price was very reasonable and I will continue to give them the highest rating available.
