It's been quite a while since my wife stopped here to dine... probably 5+ years. I've noticed that in the 17 years I've been in Gettysburg y this restaurant is #1 still here, and #2 continues a level of food service that both the locals and tourists enjoy. My wife and I both had the shrimp baskets and two soft drinks for lunch. The shrimp baskets were $17 each and the soft drinks $3 each. With tax and tips the total bill came to $50. The shrimp were obviously pre-battered and frozen but they were pretty tasty. The french fries had some kind of a nice crispy coating and were excellent. The coleslaw was pretty tired. The service was cordial and quick. The decor is as I remembered very nice. There is free parking behind this restaurant, but not many people know it is there. The only reason I gave four stars instead of five is because I think that the cost of the luncheon was a little more than it should've been for what we received. Had the shrimp been coated with a batter and fried from scratch (instead of being taken out of a frozen bag) I might've been able to award five stars. But... All in all this restaurant continues to hold its "very good to excellent" reputation for food and service over many years. I would die there again and I would recommend it with no reservations.

This was the first time my husband and I went to this restaurant. THAT A GREAT PLACE!! We like to sit at the bar. The downstairs bar was too busy so we went upstairs to The Jewel Box Lounge Bar. You can I order food at the bar, plus they bar top tables. Christian F. was the bartender and waiter for the entire upstairs. Boy, did he do an amazing job making sure everyone had what they needed. The food was great! We will definitely be back. Go check it out next time you are in Gettysburg.

Dined here on a busy Sunday night. Parking lot was very difficult to find a spot for a pick up truck. Found 2 seats at the bar & ordered drinks to start. Bartender was friendly & informative. Seemed they were out of a lot of things on a Sunday night so that made it a little difficult to figure out what to order. I would up with a small side salad that was decent & the wings. My husband had a sandwich & we then shared the homemade peanut butter pie without whip cream. The dessert was excellent. Not a bad choice when in town!

It's been many years since I've been here and I saw they had new owners from 2022. I was pleasantly surprised by the meal! I went with the tacos and shared the wings. We sat at a high top in the bar area and our waitress was very nice and attentive. My only complaint - this is supposed to be a baseball bar and not a single tv had any baseball!!

Thank you to our amazing and helpful server, Cassie. She suggested the quesadillas and they were just as incredible as she promised. The crab cake sandwich was really good and was not a regret. The side of potatoes were incredible. The chicken tenders were a good portion and also great. All of the cocktails were very flavorful. There is a nice sports bar area in the back. This was a delicious last minute find. Would love to come back.

The bar itself.. cool, authentic Irish pub

The bar is a cross between a sports bar and a a hometown Irish bar. The bartender was polite and engaging. The food was amazing! Everything we watched come out of the kitchen looked great! Quantities and the size of the sandwiches were above average! Highly recommend!

A burger in one place is much the same as a burger in any other? Ha!…read more The Blue & Gray Bar & Grill, right in the center of historic Gettysburg, goes one better. We'd spent an entire day touring the battlefield, it's a Saturday, and the town is full of tourists. No surprise we had a thirty minute wait for a table. But once inside and seated, it was clear to us that the B & G was no ordinary bar & grill. The burgers are themed for generals, both Federal and Confederate, who took part in the battle. Each burger is characterized by the general it's named for. The General Buford, for example, is served with bleu cheese crumbles and horseradish (he's a cavalry officer, get it?) and the Robert E. Lee features a slab of Virginia ham. I ordered the General George Meade. Meade was a Pennsylvanian, so naturally this burger comes with a pile of Philly cheesesteak. A carnivore's delight, to be sure. No complaints here. And if I'm ever back this way, I'm curious to try the General Longstreet: it's served with carmelized onions and peanut butter. That's gotta be good.

Lots of different wing choices too. Very little choices for entrées. More like an afterthought. Our waitress, bless her heart looked overwhelmed. I asked for a specific type of beer. "Oh im a girl, I dont know beers" say what? Then hands me a hand written list of beers to choose from. Also she totally forgot to put in one of the orders, for a table of 7. Yea, how do you miss a whole meal??? I asked for a medium burger, got medium rare. Along with cold fries. Who eats rare burgers??? The burger was delicious, but too rare for me (got the blue cheese one, named after some general) Overall I wouldn't recommend this place unless all you want is burgers and wings. Cause thats all they have. Oh and expect to wait in line with everyone else for a table. The place is smaller than it looks.

First, half the tables were empty and there was still like a half hour wait. It just seemed not staffed enough, but once you're here (they don't take reservations) there's not a lot of places nearby to change your mind to. There is a small merch shop to browse as you wait. The tables are nicely spaced out. The Bavarian pretzels were great, but they only come with mustard and cheese is an upcharge, which I've never seen as a pretz connoisseur. It was an interesting thicker cream cheese-ish dip which required spreading with the knife. The website lists a "weekly steak special" but none was to be found when we went. So we got the gyro which was decent and the Philly cheesesteak which was extremely salty to the point of being almost inevitable. The homemade chips (the only non upcharge size) were thick and crunchy. Both sandwiches were around $20 which felt overpriced for the quality. Other sides were available for an upcharge, which seemed not worth it on the existing bill. The service was good, the bathrooms were nice, and there was plenty of parking. The food was just disappointing. If you're more of a drinker, you may be able to overlook that.

My uncle ordered a cup of chili to start. It was served hot which is always a bonus. Not too spicy even though it had a spice label next to it on the menu. The presentation was nice as it's served with 4 tortilla chips. My Aunt opted for the babyback ribs served with fries. My uncle's main dish was the soft shell crab tacos while I went with the brisket mac and cheese and side Caesar salad. These items, with exception of the salad, were on a separate menu, likely seasonal. The servings are large (even the side salad)! I barely put a dent in my Mac and cheese. I was a little disappointed that the brisket that was "folded" within my MAC and cheese was playing Hide-and-seek. I would prefer more protein in that dish based on the quantity of pasta. The salad was well-dressed. At most restaurants I have to add caesar dressing to the salads. I washed it down with a sweet tea while my Uncle tried the White Birch beer. My aunt thought the baby back ribs were dry, and had a bit too much sauce on it. It would have been nice to have less sauce on the ribs, with additional sauce on the side. My uncle did not think the soft shell crab tacos were all that (although novel), which is probably why he ordered. It had more batter on it, and one can barely taste the crab. He said he would not order it again. As residents they will not go back to this restaurant anytime soon, and can't really recommend it unless someone just wants to try give it a try. I'll have to try the root beer on my next visit. Our waiter was very attentive and the volume in the restaurant was reasonable enough to have table conversations. I definitely recommend stopping at one of these locations if you're visiting or passing through.
