Hello, I was visiting my best cousin in New Orleans. I reside in Memphis, Tennessee and I am currently employed as an Operations Shift Coordinator in a warehouse for a multi-billion dollar beauty industry. I have also worked as a food runner, hostess and a back of house specialist in hotels and restaurants before my current job title. My group of friends decided to make one last stop at Ghost Bar for a late night snack and last call for cocktails. In the first instance, the atmosphere was inviting, welcoming & the crowd was a mixture of races and cultures. Our group sat at the bar & asked the bartender for directions to the restroom. The bartender informed us that the restroom key could not be released until an identification card was held as "insurance." We obliged without complaints using the restroom we noticed that there was not any hand soap available to wash our hands or the employees hands. We asked the bartender if they had any soap to spare in the back. The owner of the bar was in the kitchen with dishwashing Dawn soap highly annoyed and argumentative. The owner was in intoxicated and under the influence of alcohol. The owner was defensive & never apologized for the inconvenience. The owner would not release the dishwashing soap until after we released our identification cards as "insurance" again. My group ordered a cocktail beverage and the owner picked up the ice with his bare hands. When we expressed our issue, the owner drunkenly went on for 15 minutes about how it's safe for him to touch the ice with his hands before serving. read more

Went there for a few beers on football Sunday. When in Rome, root for the Saints! Especially in the Big Easy. The folks in NOLA are very friendly and we had a blast just chatting with the bartender about beer and watching the game. The whole bar was into it and that's always a good time. The specialty cocktail menu is epic. They pay a lot of attention to detail and take great pride in their work. I loved the experience and I'll be back next time. Four of us walked in at about 4pm on a Saturday. About 6 people were at the bar and we sat at a table. After a few minutes I popped over to the bar and ordered the famous cereal martini. They didn't have the ingredients. So I asked for the s'more martini. No ingredients. Tried the Slimer. That's a no. Can't do it. No ingredients. 20 minutes and three no's, no drinks with no order taken for food and zero interest in a table of four. Epic fail. Had a great time here this weekend! It's a smaller bar but it was very easy to get seats when we went. Bartender was cool, he was playing punk rock/pop punk the whole time and it was a great vibe. They were playing football on Sunday but popped in the next night to catch the end of the monday game and all the TVs were set to the bar's logo instead. Every drink we tried was awesome (Cereal Killer was not overly sweet, Tombstone Tea tastes like an alcoholic Arnold Palmer, and the Spicy Pickle Bonito is perfect for anyone who loves pickles--I was doubtful but it was my favorite one) and the pizza was delicious! After reading the reviews we we're excited to make the walk to the ghost bar. There was only 1 other couple there. The bartender acted as if we were bothering him. Tried to engage in a conversation that he was not interested in. Once there he ask what we wanted to drink. I expected to see a menu of the specialty drinks from the reviews. I had to ask for it. His 1st words when handling over the menu was I'm out of this and out of that. I ordered a drink off the menu hoping it to be fun. Dry ice, booze and a gummy worm that was hidden on the bottom. I was surprised when the other couple ask for a food menu because I didn't know they had food. I would have expected a bartender to start off with would you like to see our drink menu or would you like to order some food. I guess he couldn't be bothered. His girlfriend was setting at the end of the bar so I guess that was more important. In short we were looking for a fun experience after reading the reviews but instead had one drink and moved on. read more

Long time frequenter of New Orleans for 25 years and had walked past the bar many times and decided to go in for a change. Got our first drink and finished it and waited for service again. Guy totally ignored us and then finally came over and had the nerve to say. "you stiffed me on the last round." I stiffed you? I'm still standing here aren't I? I explained to the guy that anyone that knows me knows I over tip, you get better service the next time you come in the bar, and by the way, I tip when I'm leaving. He's like "I don't care about that". Let me explain that a tip is not mandatory, it's a privilege. If you serve me satisfactorily I may tip you. It's not required and it's not a right.
