I moved into a fairly old house and when we went to swap out all the light fixtures we found that the wiring had been tinkered with previously and we didn't know what to do. Martin came over and swapped out 3 light fixtures and fixed the issue. He even got the track lighting that was giving us the biggest headache installed to our relief. He was so nice and courteous and worked efficiently. He wasn't able to get a plug installed for our microwave in the time we had him booked but he walked us through what installation would look like and what our options are for doing with our too big bridge cabinet. Martin is amazing! I moved here from Texas and sure enough my AC. In Texas, AC is equivalent to air, you can't live without it. I was nervous looking for a repair person in a place that's not home. I called a few people and sent out a few messages, Martin was the first to respond, probably within 10 minutes. I told him that I thought that the AC needed freon, and he told me that if it did, there was also a leak somewhere because an AC unit is a closed system. Well, that was the right answer, so I picked him because I knew in that moment that he knew what he was talking about and that he was not about bull. On the scheduled appointment day, he was prompt, efficient and reasonably priced... unheard of these days! He finished the job in under an hour and my house was cool again shortly thereafter. These days it is nearly impossible to find good help, especially in a situation where you know just enough about the problem to be dangerous, but not enough to matter. I was completely reliant upon Martin to tell me what was really going on and he did. He gave me good information and a fair price. We contacted the company on Saturday and they came out same day. He identified the problem quickly and told us that we needed a part for our outside unit. Since it was a Saturday, they couldn't get the part until Monday. That was fine and we scheduled for the repair on Monday. Monday comes and the man comes, slightly late, and is outside for an hour. Then we get a phone call that they got the wrong part and will have to come back the next day with the correct part. We said okay that's fine. Things happen. So he said they would call or send an appointment time for us. We said okay. We didn't get a phone call in the morning so I called around lunch time. It didn't seem like anyone remembered or was told to call us, but we got an appointment at 7:00pm after I called. I confirmed it and so we waited. It was a few minutes after 7 so we called and he picked up and said that many people were out so they weren't able to come and someone should have called us. They didn't. So then he apologized and said that we would get a discount and they would come on Wednesday at 4:30. Wednesday comes and we never got an appointment confirmation so my husband called to double check that someone was coming. They said yes. So 4:40 comes on Wednesday so we call and no answer. We called a few times with no answers. Then he sent my husband a text that he would call back in ten minutes, this is at 4:45. Then it becomes 5:15, he finally calls and apologizes and says we would get a bigger discount and that this isn't how they do business. At this point, we just want our heat fixed. He said he would call by 7 on Wednesday night to schedule on Thursday. He calls exactly at 7:00 and we schedule it for 4:30 on Thursday. Then comes Thursday, it is 4:40 and no one came so we called. They said the technician was on his way and he would call to see how far away he was. Then another 15 minutes go by and we never get an update so we call again. He said he should be about 30 minutes away and that the technician was supposed to call us to tell us that. He didn't. Then we wait and no one comes so we call again. Eventually the technician calls around 6 and says he will be 30 minutes or longer. Then 6:30 comes and he comes up. He then goes around the back to work on the unit. He comes in and out to see about the heat then goes back outside. He tells us at 8:10 that something isn't right and he can't get the frostboard to work (the piece that it needs and they were replacing) so he will have to come back the next day. The next day (Friday) is here and no one has contacted us so my husband calls over and over and then calls the main company number. He tells the woman what has happened and she says that Martin will fix it and that they can get in contact with the technician that came last night. Martin comes and my husband explains the wires in our inside unit have been disconnected so Martin fixes that then goes outside and looks at the outside unit. He fixes everything in about an hour to an hour and a half. We finally have heat after a week. We had our emergency heat running for 7 days. This is expensive and shouldn't have taken so long. I give two stars because it was fixed and everyone was polite throughout the entire process, but this whole thing was very inconvenient, timely, costly, and frustrating. read more

My apartment was not getting as cold as I would have liked, so I scheduled an appointment with Gilbert Enterprise to have the A/C unit serviced. Scheduling was easy -- I did it online and received a confirmation the day of the appointment. Martin showed up on time and was very professional. He examined the unit and explained that the unit was functioning properly, but the apartment was not getting very cold because of how and where the unit was installed. Martin showed at appropriate time with call prior to arrival. Martin diagnosed and showed what to do for next time (a huge plus in my book). Estimate for fix ended up being fine. Perhaps only thing I would suggest (for all companies, including Gilbert), would be a request for detailed info prior to arrival. Mr. Martin Gilbert is not only the most honest and fair electrician I have ever dealt with but is one of the most honest business owners or people I have met. I have used him twice now, once when a home inspector made some suspect accusations during a home inspection. Martin came and assessed the accusations/opinions of the home inspector which were entirely incorrect saving me significant money for unnecessary work. The second time was today when an electrician during an estimate for a hot tub install, stated both my panels needed to be replaced asap and quoted me 5k. Martin inspected both panels stating they were wired correctly and completely up to code, there is no issue with each panel. If you want an honest, professional opinion without the worry of a tech trying to milk some unnecessary cash for some unnecessary work call Martin. I will be using this company from now on and can not recommend them highly enough. They came multiple times to fix several complex problems and each time were on time, reasonably priced, and did an excellent job figuring out the issues and making things work. Today our heat stopped working and they fit us in same day when I asked if we could be seen sooner rather than later due to a freezing home. Not only did the technician stay an hour to diagnose the problem, but he ran to three stores to obtain the right part to fix our system so that we would not have to freeze this evening. I really don't like giving a bad review, especially since Gilbert Enterprise came so highly recommended. Maybe there have been some extenuating circumstances of which I am not aware. I spent a good deal of time talking to Martin and got an estimate from him for a residential project. After getting the estimate I remained pleased but made some changes to what I needed done. Those changes might have significantly reduced the cost of what would have been provided, as the job was smaller. Several efforts to reach Gilbert Enterprise were unsuccessful, as in no response to several text messages and web site messages. I was ghosted. I ended up giving the job to someone else at a cost less than Gilbert Enterprise estimated. Very unfortunate as Gilbert Enterprise would have gotten the job had they just responded to my communications. Now I have confirmed the electrician I will use for all of my small home projects and it is not Gilbert Enterprise. read more

My coop has super old wiring that doesn't quite make sense, and an outdated fuse box system. So - I blow fuses often and am used to just swapping them out. Tonight however, almost every outlet (including the fridge and AC) lost power, and swapping fuses didn't make a difference, and I couldn't figure out the fuses in the basement. I asked 6 other electricians and most couldn't come for 2-4 days - but Martin made the time to come tonight. He was patient and thorough - and helped explain to me how the wiring and fuse system works for our building - so I could troubleshoot better by myself. His rates were also more fair than the others I was quoted - and those other rates weren't even the same day service. He is knowledgeable, thorough, prompt, helpful - I will absolutely use him for all future electrical needs and recommend him whenever asked.
