My wife used to eat here as a child with her family many years ago. So, on our way to Charleston, we decided to stop by so she could re-visit and eat there again. She said not much had changed, other than the name from The Dock Restaurant to Gilligan's at the Dock. We went on a Wednesday night. It wasn't busy at all, but, people did trickle in as our meal went along. We were served some of the best hushpuppies I've ever had. They were jalapeno hushpuppies which were sweet with a hint of heat. My wife got the catfish stew, like she used to. She said it was good. She got scallops for the main meal and they were tasty. I made the mistake of getting popcorn shrimp. They were good but I wish I would've tried their fried catfish. I was told by her dad that that is the reason to go there to eat! The prices weren't really that far off from what any other place would've been. The décor was that of a seafood restaurant from the 1970's but I am totally OK with that. It was a tad rainy so we didn't get to enjoy the cool scenery of eating on the river and walking out on the docks. We had a good time there revisiting her childhood memories. read more

Just got back from our dinner at Gilligan's at the Dock. We have been here many times over the years and enjoyed it each time. But this visit was not good. I ordered one of the specials - crab stuffed flounder and my husband the popcorn shrimp. We both ordered water with lemon to drink - but it had an off taste. My husband ended up ordering a soft drink. My flounder had a decidedly bitter taste and I couldn't eat it. The side salad had a huge piece of rotten lettuce in it. My husband's shrimp and the sauces had way too much salt in them. On the plus side, the red rice was delicious and we received wonderful service from Veronica. As we were driving away, we saw a sign that explained everything - "Cook Wanted - Apply Within". Wish we'd seen that sign before we went in!! read more

I'm giving this restaurant only 2 stars because the service and the hush puppies were great! Our food was not! Ordered the penne with alfredo sauce which was bland at best! Also, ordered the cheesy grits with green fried tomatoes and blackened shrimp. It arrived with a mayo type sauce on it, which was not in the item description. It was nasty! Fantastic food! Mahi Mahi was super fresh and cooked perfectly! The sauce on the fish tacos was amazing! Portions are generous. The fried okra was fresh, not frozen and hand battered. Service was good. Excellent views and easy access from our boat! read more

What can I say about Gilligan's. It has great food and a great location looking onto the river. The staff are friendly as always and did I mention the food was great. lol. The prices are just a bit high, but the food is worth it for this area. Whether your a local or vacationing here if you go out to eat you need to try this place. The Oysters Rockefeller and Snow Crab Legs were amazing! We took a 5 year break from eating at Gilligan's due to bad service and lousy food but we are so glad we have them another chance. The service was great and the food delicious and hot. My only regret is not saving room for dessert. read more

I pass this place every time I drop my bonus son off. Today we finally ate there. Well the hostess and waitress was super nice! Lovely view! BUT I was not a fan with the over all food. We found the food to be great. My catfish nuggets were yummy. We all loved the hush puppies. Cheese grits were creamy and flavorful. Fresh crispy salad. Fish and homemade chips were fresh and well cooked. Tables and chairs were all clean. Service was terrific. It is a beautiful setting right on the river. However, one star missing was for the filthy carpet. The other star missing was for the extremely greasy bathroom floors. It would take professional degreaser to get it up. read more

Not a fan of this place. I ordered the shrimp dip which was extremely bland despite how amazing it sounded on the menu. I also had the crab legs which were ok but honestly didn't seem fresh. My fried oysters were very greasy. The grits were oddly sweet and I couldn't stomach them. I'm a big seafood lover but this just seems like a place that needs an overhaul on the food, it's simply not good. Sad because I was very excited after looking at the menu. Tips to the management... food shouldn't be drenched in grease even if it's fried and sugar doesn't belong in grits. My husband and I both agreed this may be one of the worst meals we have ever had at a sit down restaurant. Positives were our waitress was very sweet and the hushpuppies were pretty good. This wouldn't steer me back to this restaurant however. This place has such potential, it's a shame how poor the food is. read more

This place was semi-difficult to find. You have to turn in like you're going to the gas station and follow the small signs. The location is good but surrounded by a lot of water that's not gated off (make sure you watch the kids). It's very pretty on the inside. There's big windows and you have a nice view. The bar is separated from the family dining area. Service was quick and the food was good. The crabs were semi-cold. The butter tasted OK because it's reheated butter. The waitress was very nice! We went here for a date night. They gave us one of those blinker things to let us know when they were ready for us. I didn't mind the wait. It was good to be away from the kids and the view during the wait was beautiful. Over looking the water and looking at the boats passing by. I ordered a few drinks. One came in a coconut and was excellent. My wife ordered fish and I had alligator bites. Before the meal came we were honored with some of the best hush puppies in the world. Honestly I could have just eaten the hush puppies and nurse my coconut drink and be in a state of bliss. I highly recommend them. They had a 25 min. wait on a Sunday afternoon, whoever it was keeping the wait list seemed a bit stressed, so we asked if there was a bar. "Yes". Lol, okay, we found it on our own and there was plenty of room at the bar to eat, so we stayed there. Unfortunately the bartender complained to the other waitress about her $h*tty tips from a large group, and apparently the staff is assumed gratuity on gift certificates, so I felt obligated to tip on a $25 gift certificate! The Boom Boom shrimp was a little disappointing, the calamari ok, but I would come back and try more from the menu. The atmosphere off the water and view can't be beat. read more

As a place where you can pull your boat up to the dock and grab some food, this place is convenient. The food wasn't too bad. Had the salmon BLT which was pretty good. The server was quick and friendly and beverages stayed filled. Hushpuppies were really good, and it took eating several before I realized that those green flecks were jalapenos, at which point it was very good that refills were prompt. Food came out quickly. There seem to be plenty of locals that come here and a lady called out my friend on his dirty mouth, which seemed pretty rude to us since we weren't being overly loud. Made my way here after a volunteer day for work in the area. With a group of 20, I have to say- the servers and manager were top notch. Our drinks stayed filled, the hush puppies flowed like water and our meals were all really delicious. I ordered the Arnold Palmer (WITH vodka) which was delicious, as well as the flounder po boy. The sandwich was a little bread-heavy, but the fish was still really yummy. I ordered the fried green tomatoes as my side- left a little to be desired. Now, truth be told, I am just coming off of an amazing meal at Poogan's Porch, where the fried green tomatoes were served with goat cheese and fresh fruit. Poor Gilligan's never stood a chance... In all, I'd try this place again- but probably stick with the fried goodness they seem to be known for. read more

The place is clean i give it that. The staff is friendly reasonable paced. We had the gater, fried oysters, peel shrimp and a couple sam adams. Now the gater portion amount was fine but the size most of the pieces had more breading than meat. Oysters same way almost like they chopped the oysters in two pieces then breaded them and sent them on there way. The shrimp were great but its hard to mess shrimp up!! So the reasoning for the review is the price was more than should be 70.00 for mostly breading and two beers and 8 shrimp. I now see why there were only like 6 couples on a saterday night at a seafood restaurant. Sadly that was my first and last time there!!! read more

The food here is actually really good! I was a little scared just bc the inside is a little run down but I guess you can't judge a book by its cover really applies to this place. The BEST part of the meal is the hush puppies that come out at the beginning of the meal! They are delicious to say the least! I had the salmon and it was so good it didn't taste fishy at all which is what I really like. My boyfriend had the mahi mahi and my mom had crab legs. The crab legs were alright deff not my favorite. The server was very accommodating, the scenery was pleasing and relaxing. My significant other and I shared the lunch portion of a tio meal that had fulfilled both of or apitite's. This place is ideal for boat owners enjoying a day out on the river and want a nice meal. The pier gives boat owners access to the restaurant. I visited Moncks Corner for the holidays with family and friends. We make this trip every year anticipating our visit to our favorite seafood restaurant. We make it a point to sit in the bar area with our favorite bartender Tina. Imagine a family of 15+ w/children in tow, who are loud with big personalities(Sorry Tina, haha). Per usual the food was absolutely amazing and the all you can eat oysters/shrimp were exceptionally amazing. Needless to say I visited 4 times on this trip alone and got to meet Heidi the manager who went above and beyond to accommodate my family in the bar area which is designed for big parties of guest. If you want the freshest most delicious oysters, go to Gilligan's in Moncks Corner! Tina keep those babies rolling hot and fresh. We are already looking forward to our visit next year, even thinking about having a catered Gilligan's Christmas. read more

Would have given Gilligan's a 4 in the past but not this weekend. Sorry! I had my mind set on steamed oysters. Was told that one of the steamers were down and since they were very busy that I could not get anything steamed. The waitrss said that they were busy but honestly they were only half full!! Very disappointing I did get the Fried seafood platter, fish, shrimp and oysters. The portions were huge and good. That made up for my not getting what I originally went for. Wait staff nice although I think they were under staffed. All in all I love Gilligans and this misadventure will not stop me from going business with them again!! read more

All of the food was outstanding. The gumbo and the shrimp and grits were top picks. Outside is pleasant with a view and a breeze.

I've always enjoyed looking out over the river when I go to Gilligan's. Food is good..hush puppies are great and the catfish special they have going is good eating. The dock connected to the restaurant comes in handy with all the boaters during summer. read more

EXTREMELY RUDE AND OBNOXIOUS PEOPLE INCLUDING THE MANAGER! I called for a campsite for just one night and they said no problem! I got there about 1 1/2 hours before sunset and went to talk to the people in the restaurant They said they have no room even though there was only 2 sites taken! The campsite was nothing more than a glorified parking lot, no trees, shade, etc. I would NEVER trust this place and can only imagine how terrible the food must be! read more

So I try to always find something good about a place and for Gilligans they get two star average: 5 stars for the cool location, 3 stars for the service and a negative 5 stars for the food! Terrible! My friend and I both had the fried shrimp, hers with fries and coleslaw, mine red rice and a side salad. Complimentary hush puppies were cold and mushy, fried shrimp were cold, red rice was cold, crunchy, not fresh, little flavor, fries were cold and not good at all. I used to always come here as a little girl with my family but haven't been in a few years. I recently went for my birthday with my family this past Sunday. The food was great but there was an unpleasant smell from a few of the drinks that were brought to our table. When we asked the waitress about it she explained that it was from Well water and that is was highly expensive for them to have their own water line source. She quickly gave us another beverage and was nice. The atmosphere was nice, I love the lake scenery, and my family and I enjoyed the rest of the meal. read more

Stopped here on a recent boat ride with friends. We tried the gator bites and bang bang shrimp for appetizers. Both were good. They seem to have a lot of fried selections on the menu. My husband ordered the fish and chips. The batter was nice and light. Portion was a little small for dinner. I ordered the broiled scallops and red rice. Everything was good and it was a decent portion size. Our friends ordered the fish tacos, which surprisingly had battered fried fish on them. Usually, I see broiled fish on fish tacos.
