Every drink was so unique yet complimentary to each other being created on the spot, he and Engie worked diligently to put out nothing but the best! PLEASE do yourself a favor and do the Bartender's Choice and be open to taking a suggestion, this place knows what they're doing! The vibe here is so fun and lively! We sat next to a group of gals out on a girls night and another celebrating their birthday, there was a man taking a couple clients out and everyone was having a great time! Serving caffeine by day and debauchery by night Gin & Reel is a hidden speakeasy in the back of The Stir coffee shop on High Street. Find the password to enter in the caption of the pinned post on their Instagram page. Then, pick up the payphone, give the password, and be transported to a 1920s speakeasy. I've been to many speakeasies in town and this has the real feeling of being hidden, with other flappers, in a small cozy joint. After a good run with Phantom of the Opera, the current menu is Chicago inspired with drinks named: Roxie Hart, All that Jazz, Amos, and Razzle Dazzle. I started with a gin based cocktail called Cellblock Tango that was too sweet for my palette, but ended with a bolder Old Fashion type called They Both Reached for the Gun. Adam and Robert made this experience great. I have loved this place since 20/20 and last night had the best mocktails I've ever had. Robert you are very gifted with flavors. I highly recommend trying his thin mint mocktail...it was to die for! He also made me a very tart mocktail that was the best I've had. He even topped it with a rose. Perfection! I do find the mocktails to be too expensive, even more than the cost of our friends alcohol-based drink so I would suggest lowering the prices to enticeus in more often but it was still a wonderful evening and well worth the Indulgence. read more

Very cool spot that requires a password but don't worry the hostess will help direct you on how to find it. You enter through an old school telephone booth. Once inside, the place is very small and intimate. Don't be afraid to go off menu. Simply tell the server what you like, fruity, sweet and creamy, etc and they will put together a drink. If alcohol isn't your thing, don't worry, they offer mock-tails. While I didn't get the chance to enjoy the bites, they looked delicious. There is a time limit, the drinks were amazing. The only reason for 4 stars was the food was not the greatest. I was starving so it didn't help. Parking can be very limited, there are some areas with valet. We lucked out and got a space as someone was leaving. 3 hour time limit there as well. You have to know the secret password before they let you in too. Once you give the password you go to the phone in the wall whisper the password the phone and open the door. Very cool little speakeasy in North Scottsdale. The place is not a secret, so plan to get their early or expect to wait for a seat on the weekends. Staff walked us around a corner, through the entrance, and into a cozy space with a beautiful backbar, good music, and friendly bar team. Only one server in the space, so it took around an hour just to get one drink and fully check out. We wanted to try more beverages but didn't want to feel trapped in the location. We went early and had no issues getting a seat. The cocktails were incredible and the service was great. We've ventured to other speakeasies in the area and while some of the others may have slightly higher end decor, this one has the best overall vibe by far. We had to wait to about 45 minutes for our party of 7 to be seated, but that's okay we just went and walked around the area until we were texted that we were next in line. It's a great walkable area with a lot of restaurants and other drink spots. We were seated and promptly greeted by David who is probably the best server I've had in a very long time. Very friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating during our entire visit. We even spoke briefly with the manager at one point who was also great and friendly. The atmosphere here is really cool. Good music but not so loud that you can't carry a conversation. Old timey decor and kinda dim but that Jeff's itself to a really relaxed vibe. Cocktails here are very booze forward so keep this in mind when you're picking things off the menu. Staff are friendly and very personable, some are dressed in flapper wear and fedoras and vests. I really appreciated the fashion as it helps to really sell the prohibition era speakeasy vibe! I opted for the Raspberry Chocolate Martini and it was like a decadent dessert in drinkable form. I really want to go back and partake of more libations. It was so cool just to see the bartenders make the drinks since they're so fancy and complex. I got the angel of music - it was okay, a little too sweet for me, but definitely strong. My other drink was the chandelier and I loved this one! The foam was so good (this was a drink that lit up). This is one of the coolest speakeasys I've been to from the valley. Located in North Phoenix, the set up here takes you back to the prohibition era. It's a pretty tight space so I wouldn't recommend coming in large groups. The drink menu had a decent selection for everyone's type of alcohol choice. My favorite was the prohibition punch! It is a bit on the pricey side where drinks vary between $12-$18 in price range. I would have liked to see more food items on the menu, that's just me. However we all thought the drinks were amazing. It is pretty small in there and a little crammed but not too bad. I ended up getting some sort of gin daiquiri drink that had grapefruit juice and banana alcohol in it. Not sure what happened, but this place has gone completely down the drain. My friend and I came in on a Friday night a little before closing and they told us that they would be closing soon but they're doing last call, so my friend and I ordered drinks. 10 minutes went by nothing 20 minutes went by nothing. Meanwhile the waitress was giving everybody else around us a second or third round of drinks. Sure they may have ordered them before us, but we didn't even get any drinks at all. A group of 4 come in way after us and ordered way after us and they also receive their drinks. We confronted the staff and instead of being apologetic, they basically just blew us off. I don't know if it had to do with the fact that my friend and I are woman of color or what but there's no reason for us to be ignored and for our drinks and our orders to be dismissed. I highly recommend not going to this place because the service and the people that work here are terrible. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU EXPECT GOOD SERVICE. You will be ignored and dismissed. Always a fun place to take a date but be warned this place can be packed and bit loud on the weekends. Best come in during the weekdays if want avoid the crowd.
