Used to be a regular here, would bring in all my friends and family to eat here. The food is decent. The service is terrible. Every time I came I always ordered the all you can eat. Recently I came and left half of 2 orders. Even though there policy states "leftover food based on server judgement will be charged extra" which I understood. I had left rolls like this multiple times in the past. At the end of my meal they walk up and inform me there charging a 1$ for every piece of sushi. That price is insane! Your talking about 11-12 dollars in extra fees for a 5-6 dollar role! This place needs to get there stuff together. Very dissatisfied and disappointed. I will never be returning here. read more

I haven't been to Gin in years. I always avoided it because of how expensive the menu was back then. Recently, I went on a sushi date with my boyfriend and decided to splurge a little on the all you can eat. Normally, I can't go a third round after eating two, but to my surprise the Chefs' preparation of the nigiri was small enough to where I could get my money's worth of the All You can Eat Menu. The rice portion is small but it gives more attention to the quality and taste of the fish. The Mackerel Nigiri has becomes my favorite fish because of Gin Sushi. Went here for lunch on a Monday. Seaweed Salad: While the portion was bigger than most, the salad did not seem very fresh. Avocado Roll: Really good. I asked for the rice to be on the outside of the roll and they did it perfectly. While this is a very simple roll the avocado was perfect. Sometimes when I get this roll it can be too soft or too hard. Spicy Tuna Roll (tempura style): The size of the roll was good but it didn't really taste all that spicy. I thought the batter on the roll was really heavy and did not give any crunch. Temecula Roll: This one sounded so good we got two of them. I would say for the price (about $9) it is a bit of a rip off. It was really just a spicy tuna roll with a slim bit of avocado and a VERY sad sliver of mango on top. The mango didn't seem ripe and it had brown spots on it. Service: Pretty lacking. I never was asked if I wanted a refill on my soda and we had to figure out how to pay the bill by going up to the counter. The place was not very busy so I was surprised by the lack of service. I figure I will keep hunting for my Temecula sushi spot. This one is edible not anything I will crave. read more

I usually come here for their AYCE sushi. Pretty decent for ayce. Their regular udon was good too, however, last night I ordered the seafood udon and didn't enjoy it. They grilled the seafood to where it's dried out and it gave the soup a charred flavor that I wasn't very fond of. Other than that, decent place! read more

Where to start... I've driven pass this restaurant countless times, and never really bothered to check it out until tonight. Walking in, we were seated in a booth near the back; the ambiance of this place is casual, very lively, and a little loud which I didn't mind. Considering the type of crowd, and how small the restaurant is, I wouldn't recommend this place for families with children. I came here with one of my good friends and we ordered the following: - Pokky Gin - If you're a poke lover, this dish will send your tastebuds over the edge. Everything in this dish complemented each other very well. It was tangy, fresh and had a little spice kick to it. A definite must try. - Seaweed Salad - always one of my favorite dishes to get at a sushi place, but really good here at Gins. The cucumber and lemon were a nice touch. - Baked Scallops Roll - this roll was pretty amazing, it was fresh and also had a sweet taste to it. The only con I have for this dish is the way it was served. It appeared the rolls were wrapped in aluminum foil which I'm sure it was to keep the scallops from falling, but also had the rolls stuck together which made it messy and harder to eat. Overall still pretty good. - Volcano Roll - I was really disappointed with this roll, don't get me wrong it was really good; however it tasted exactly like the baked scallops roll. The only difference between the two is that the volcano roll had a teriyaki glaze over the rolls. So essentially I ordered two of the same thing. Overall this place was decent, the staff are friendly, the son & pop of the restaurant are really nice and try to cater to you as much as possible. I had driven by Gin Sushi in the evening and noticed a lot of people were eating there and since I was new in Temecula it seemed like a good place to try. I ordered take out the next day. Unfortunately, they got my order wrong and my Crunch Roll had no crunchies! I know I'm eating raw fish, but quality sushi doesn't have a fishy smell when you eat it. Gin's sushi smells fishy and it's mediocre. I will be searching for a different sushi spot in Temecula. read more

This is hands down the best Sushi in the Temecula area. Never had anything that was less than fantastic. But their spicy scallop is the best thing I've ever tasted. I came here with my wife and son to enjoy lunch. My wife ordered a couple of rolls and my son who is 10 years old order a Teriyaki Bowl. I ordered all you can eat sushi and I can tell you that without a doubt this was the worst sushi I have ever had my wife and I did not eat more than a few bites and when we told the waitress she said that they have not had fresh fish in a few days and therefore it might taste a bit odd... I would say 4 pieces of a California roll, 2 sushi and a few of something I cant remember - honestly we hit the brick wall of tired...so all in all about 8+ pcs could have been 10 I don't remember- but nothing to write home about.... I wasn't over wasteful, by any stretch of the imagination and nothing we ordered was unusual or experimental for us, basically what we left could have fit into the hamburger size foam clam-shell. So we go up to pay and as we stand there with my credit card in hand saying it was another really wonderful dinner and thank you...... The lady says- "I suggest next time you order less" it wasn't a quite comment, it was regular talking voice- Personally I didn't really care-- but she said this to me with a straight face.. the guy standing next to her was a bit taken aback. What? REALLY? You said this to a customer? Really? I was shocked- I don't care what your opinion is you never say anything like that to a paying customer- with all the restaurants in Temecula I could go to and spend my hard earned money I made the conscious decision to get into my car and CHOSE YOUR establishment to drive to for dinner. Total dick is all I can say, he kept pushing a situation that was long done with and was no big deal but you can tell he wanted me to react so he can get confrontational or refuse us service, I wouldn't give the stooge the satisfaction of either. They are so small in tin foil,but since it's AYCE you can just order as much as you want. *Specialty rolls were impressive. They were nicely plated. *Quick service! The only con I have is that they won't let you order shrimp tempura only. It has to be a mix of one shrimp, carrot, and onion. But that's just a personal critique. Bad experience with the restaurant owner being my first time here. The Sushi was ok and our waitress took care of us however be careful if you order from the all you can eat menu and you can't finish your sushi even YOUR PIECES OF RICE. The owner came to our table, I thought she was coming to check how the service had been and she proceeds to point to our plate saying "if you don't finish all your rice I will charge you a dollar for every piece of rice" I thought she was joking at first and as she walked away she proceeded to say "AND DONT HIDE IT IN THE MISO SOUP" with her big attitude. First of all I didn't even order a miso soup nor was there Miso at my table. At this point I realized she wasn't joking. There was not a whole lot left over maybe 3-4 pieces of fish and a bit of rice. She ended up charging us $5 extra for the fish we couldn't eat and acted like she was cutting us a break with the over charge. The owner is rude but I didn't let her ruin my lunch. I gave her her $5 dollars so she can sleep better tonight knowing her restaurant isn't losing profit on white rice. However I will advise everyone I know in Murrieta to go to a friendlier Sushi restaurant with better management, service, and possibly even fresher sushi with reasonable prices. read more

I tried this place out when driving through Temecula the other day. Our waiter was young gentleman who was nice enough and recommended Aladdin when i asked for a sake recommendation. If you like Lemon drop you will like this he said and I did but when I tried to get another one, they were sold out...:( For appetizers ordered the kama, mussels and agedashi tofu. the kama (yellowtail collar) which was over cooked so sent it back...the owner was not pleased but I like my kama crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside. I hardly ever send back my food but it was too hard and chewy to enjoy - the second one was still overcooked but not as much chewy. Agedashi tofu was very good and the mussels were the best thing out of the three. The sashimi was fresh enough. It was a happy crowd in the restaurant - 80% were under 30 - good vibe. I would give this place a 4 star but the overcooked kama made it a 3 star....Good bang for the buck. I will try it again when I get the chance. read more

My wife invited her boss to join us for dinner. Like me, he enjoys good food and utilizes Yelp to look for good places to eat. Since he left the decision of where we were going to dine up to us, it fell on my shoulders to find a decent restaurant. Since I kept reading positive reviews about Gin Sushi, I made the command decision to try this place. We visited on 07/19/13 around 7:30 PM. The place was half filled with patrons, with several empty tables scattered around the room. We were greeted after a few minutes of waiting at the front counter/entrance area which was really cramped and non-conducive to the flow of patron traffic entering and exiting this establishment. For some reason, we had to wait several minutes for the staff to wipe down 2 tables, which were already cleared and join them together, then add the place settings. We were only a party of 5, so my wife's boss and I both mentioned to each other, why the restaurant was having such a difficult time seating our party size, since there were so empty tables. I watched one of the bus boys grab some paper napkins, then drop one on the floor. I also observed him to casually place that dropped napkin with the others that he used to prepare another table that had diners sitting at it already. With this kind of start, I was starting to get worried of my choice for dinner. But the minor misfirings were soon soothed over by our friendly waitress that patiently explained how the ordering process worked for the ACYE sushi dinner which was $24.95 per adult, and $18.95 per child, 11 and under. The ACYE menus included miso soup, salad, tempura, nigiri sushi, specialty sushi rolls, and a few sashimi items. All of the items on the ACYE menu is printed on a sheet of paper that you keep marking after each round of items ordered is served. The miso soup was pretty decent, as was the tempura shrimp. Our sons ordered a noodle dish with chicken which they both enjoyed. Since I'm not a big fan of any type of specialty sushi rolls, I ordered the basics. All that I ordered were pretty good, keeping in mind that these were all ACYE sushi orders. The fish seemed pretty fresh and not unlike fish and seafood I have consumed at other sushi establishments, like Ken's in RC etc. The amount of seafood/fish was decent as well. We all liked that they served you two pieces of the sashimi and nigri types so, if you didn't like something, you were not stuck with them and this allowed you to try other types without filling up on a specific order. I did try the baked lobster but at the end of four rounds of sushi, with each round consisting of 3-4 different types of items, I was quite full. I did try some of the other specialty rolls because they did look appealing to me, and they were all pretty good. We like this place also, because we did not feel rushed to finish or had that one hour time limit to do the ACYE dinner. In fact, we stayed to almost closing time, and yet even though staff were refilling the empty tables' condiments, we were not handed our check, even after we were asked if we wanted to order another round of sushi. Our pre-tip total which also included 3 large Sapporos was $107. We have already made Gin Sushi one of our keepers! read more

I waved the waitress over, pointed it out. She immediately apologized. At that point I'm done. Asked for a check. Came at full price. Let me start off by saying that the food is amazing , but the reason why I gave it a 1 star was because it's service . We had a party of 9 and we sat in the front table right when you walk in . The older lady that I believe owns or manages the place keep coming up to our table grabbing our plates when we weren't even done . She keep telling us she wanted to make more room. She also keep grabbing our napkins she grabbed my husbands napkin at least 4 times and we keep having to ask for more. As we were still eating she would come to the table and just start cleaning up are stuff when we weren't even close to leaving and we weren't even finish . All you can eat! Need I say more? Ayce was $18.95 for lunch and included a lot of the menu. None of the no rice rolls but a good variety. Arigato closed down so I had to find an alternative quick and this is just across the street from the Promenade mall. Service was great and the sushi was great. The baked rolls were a surprise. This sushi restaurant is very pretty, but that doesn't make up for the weak points of the experience, and there were a few. First of all, the wait to be seated was a bit ridiculous. About 30 minutes to have three families finish eating, because they don't have any tables for couples, and they were not asking if we'd like to sit at the bar. Then, after about five minutes of waiting for the server to even bring us our menus, I got up and walked to the hostess, who I assume is the owner, to ask for menus from the pile of menus she had next to her. She told me to wait, that my server would bring them. Okay. Another five minutes and she finally came over, but only with half of the menus, and each time she tried to bring another one, she realized she had forgotten another menu. Anyway, so we make our decisions quickly, it takes her a while to come back, she seems sort of apathetic or uninterested in making conversation, fine. Everything was moving very slowly. I watched as they were training a new employee, who I saw give the wrong order to customers a few times and called our rolls by the wrong names. Honestly, they should have made her memorize the sushi rolls by pictures before they started training her with customers. The fish was fresh but the rolls we had were a little unimaginative and flavorless. Beautiful presentation, though. I am very interested in coming back next time I'm visiting and trying the AYCE sushi, but that won't be until summer. Hope they stay in business that long! Mama Gin is the absolute sweetest lady you could ask for, she owns this beautiful establishment & runs it very well. My fiance & I are constantly ordering + coming in when we both have a day off, she always takes care of us & takes time to come visit us at our table & say her hellos. Due to COVID obviously no one is allowed inside but, when it's all over, make sure you check out the amazing anime inspired artwork inside. This place is so quaint & so yummy!
