THE MOST DISGUSTING CHINESE FOOD I have ever tasted! First off, their taro shrimp cakes stated there was pork for the single order, and the bulk order stated only shrimp, taro, and scallions... I called before placing an uber order for the item. The person who picked up said it was a mistake and to call back tomorrow. I placed my uber eats order for: Mongolian beef (way too spicy and meh meat), sizzling rice soup (which I never received the soup/broth for and a foul smell coming from the seafood solids that did arrive), taro pancakes (which were mushy yet burnt and tasted nothing like a seafood pancake), crab Rangoon (yet another extremely pungent smell with what appeared to be ravioli that was deep fried to look like a wonton wrapped), and shrimp dumpling (with an extremely thick dough and rubbery shrimp). Gross! Do not go here!

Ginger cafe is a pretty cool restaurant that offers a cool combo of Chinese/fusion food and...dim sum! If you are looking for this sort of combo, Ginger Cafe is the place for you! Food is decent, not super pricey, I would come back.

Great ambiance, very quick service. We ordered 2 lunch specials. Chicken chow mein and Basil Chicken. Basil chicken came with a choice of white rice or egg fried rice. Chicken tasted great, flavorful with plenty vegetables, but the egg fried rice was a lil bland and dry. Chicken chow mein was very well done, chow mein had right texture.

Was craving some chow mein and this was the perfect spot! We each got a lunch special and enjoyed our dishes. Our waiter was attentive, the food came quickly, all around great service.

Ginger cafe is a neighborhood family favorite! Any time I'm visiting my grandparents and we want dim sum, we head over to Ginger Cafe! We have eaten nearly every dumpling on the menu and we have tried many of the entrees as well. Everything we have tried is tasty and of great quality. The service is always quick and friendly too, which is quite a bonus! If you're looking for an Asian restaurant with excellent dim sum, Ginger Cafe is your spot!

Easy to find and easy to park here. I'm very familiar with the location in Gilroy so I was excited to try this location too. The menu looks the same. I got the crab cake appetizer which was kinda mediocre like a regular crab cake in a won ton wrapper - not really very crab tasting. The squid ink lobster dumplings were really good. Also they had lunch specials so I got my favorite shrimp dish as a lunch special and it was a good portion of food for one. I did the upcharge $1.50 to add a salad and it was a pretty generic salad and covered with fried bits so I'd probably pass on that. The soup they serve it with was decent.

We utilized Ginger Cafe's catering services and beverages package for our wedding on 1/6/2024. Their food was so delicious that everyone who attended still talks about it today. Not only was their food delicious but their service was top notch. The servers would approach us (the bride and groom) during cocktail hour to make sure we had the chance to eat the appetizers. We were served first during dinner to make sure we had enough time to eat before getting busy with everything else. They made sure that we were well fed throughout the night. (The photos in this review do not include all 10 dishes and 3 appetizers that were offered but trust that they were all delicious!) Not only was service great on the night of, but communication was great leading up to the event. Bo went above and beyond when there was miscommunication with the venue about whether they could cook on site or not. We are so grateful for that because we wouldn't have known what to do otherwise. Overall, we would highly recommend Ginger Cafe to our friends for their catering services alone. We will definitely stop by the restaurant every now and then to try out the rest of their food!

They catered my wedding at SF City Hall and I still dream of every dish. I cannot recommend them enough for their professionalism, quality of food, and service. We were looking for a family style, multicourse Asian cuisine for our wedding with 200 guests and it was challenging without hosting at a restaurant. Ginger Cafe was the answer I didn't even know I needed. We set up a tasting and brought our family. They made every dish for us to try and even when we wanted to sample different dishes from their preset menu, they were kind enough to make the dish and mix and match our menu. Day of wedding reception was flawless. I had no qualms and they executed perfectly. Everyone raved about our food, no one left hungry after 7+ courses and it was a party! Food came out hot and the guests were impressed. I highly recommend the sea bass, lamb lollipops, and their pig buns; everything was amazing but these were my personal favorites. While we didn't serve dim sum at our wedding, they let us try it at the restaurant and it was delicious (and cute) too! The price for wedding catering was very reasonable. No one comes close to the quality and amount of food Ginger Cafe provided and believe me, I checked all over the Bay Area. So happy we weren't stuck with the single typical vegetable, meat and carb dish for our wedding meal (we had crab soup, shaken filet mignon beef, Chilean sea bass, and even tuna tartare for cocktail hour. ) If you're looking for a wonderful catering company, this is it... especially if you are all about the Asian banquet style. And what's an Asian banquet without bar service? ... yep, they offer bar service with their catering too. Literally cannot go wrong working with Ginger Cafe.

We kept it small and intimate (12 people) and Michelle was absolutely fantastic with answering all my questions and making sure everything went smoothly. We reserved a portion of the outdoor area with a few dividers, and the staff were kind and accommodating. The family loved the food - in fact, it was the first time I had seen my mom eaten so much in a very long time. The noodles were my favorite :) We had come here a few times before and all were great times, but very special shout out to the staff here. They sat us outside on their lovely patio at two long tables to accommodate our group of 24. The first thing we noticed when we sat down was the customized menus they had prepared, with the name of our organization printed at the top which was a nice touch. The organizers had opted for a family style meal, so they basically just brought out several dishes of everything on the menu spread out across our tables. The restaurant was great about crafting a menu around dietary restrictions- about 1/3 of the group was vegetarian and we also had one vegan (me), and there were plentiful options for everyone. While vegan options were not labeled on the menu, the servers are very knowledgeable and let me know that out of our menu, all the vegetarian options except the roti prata were vegan (the roti has butter). As a result I was able to try the poh pia, wok fried eggplant, sayur lodeh, and kueh nagasari. They started first by bringing out the appetizers, I personally was not a huge fan of the poh pia, I really enjoyed the sauces but I didn't love the roll itself. However chicken satay was a huge hit, I think for many it was their favorite dish of the whole meal. I enjoyed the entrees a lot more, especially the wok fried eggplant which was so wonderfully tender. The sayur lodeh was also very good, however the curry could have been more flavorful- I didn't even realize it was supposed to be spicy until I looked again at the menu after the meal. We ended with kueh nagasari which was a coconut pudding for dessert, I thought this was delicious, except I think the shredded coconut inside the pudding should have been left out since it disrupted the creamy texture. Since we had leftovers after the meal the staff brought out a ton of takeout containers and we all left happily with food to take home. Overall the service and ambiance definitely made this lunch an amazing experience. The food was pretty good but nothing really blew me away, although I'm not sure if having to serve such a large group affected the food quality. I would definitely be willing to come back again to try some more of the menu.

CONS: it seems like gochi is a hot spot for family dinners and gatherings so take that as you will. it's not a bad thing but there might be some kids seated on the other side of the restaurant who you might be able to hear loud and clear because of how much they're screaming. it's definitely an ambiance killer but not a total deal breaker.

The parking lot isn't massive, but finding a spot isn't difficult, if my experience is anything to go by. Solo and duo diners are usually seated at normal tables, but large parties have the option of sitting in shoes-off washitsu rooms with tatami mats. The menu is very large, with specific sections condensing their vegetarian & gluten-free offerings. You get a paper menu detailing their specials, and the rest of the menu is accessed through a QR code (which I am personally not a fan of). True to its self-identification as a Japanese fusion tapas spot, the menu ranges from sashimi to soba to risotto korokke to pizza and so on. I recommend eating family-style with a group, as portion sizes are definitely tapas-sized, and trying a little bit of a lot is the best way to experience what Gochi has to offer. Though the atmosphere is great for a date night, the two-seater tables are set up very close to each other, so there won't be much privacy. Most of the dishes I found to be good, but perhaps not exceedingly impressive. The yuzu ceviche was stellar, with fresh fish and a strong citrus flavor, but the accompanying potato chips were a little thick and lacking salt. The sashimi was beautifully presented and fresh, but the pieces were a little smaller than I had expected. The risotto korokke was alright as well; the sauce was great, but the risotto inside was a little bland. Overall, I thought this to be a decently enjoyable experience. The atmosphere is great, the service is good, and the food is varied and interesting. The dishes range from being pretty affordable small dishes to a little too pricey to be worth what you get, so I'd definitely spend a little extra time perusing the menu. I will likely return to try some of the other items in the future.

We ordered a variety of dishes to share, and it was one of those meals where everyone at the table found something they loved. One dish I was surprisingly impressed by was the Ankimo (steamed monkfish liver in ponzu). I'll admit, the word liver immediately made me hesitant, and if they hadn't told me what it was, I probably would've been less nervous trying it. But I'm really glad I did because it was incredibly buttery, smooth, and rich. It almost melts in your mouth, and I honestly think it would pair perfectly with a bowl of steamed rice. We also ordered the Hiyayakko (cold tofu with ginger & scallions), which was a really refreshing starter. The tofu was silky smooth and delicate, and the ginger, scallions, and soy-based seasoning added just enough flavor without taking away from the freshness of the tofu. It was simple, but really well done. We also ordered the Salmon Mayo Yaki Onigiri. While it was good, I think this is the one dish I'd probably skip next time. The crispy grilled rice ball itself was delicious, but there just wasn't enough salmon mayo on top. It felt like I only got a tiny spoonful, so once that was gone, it was mostly just rice. Since my family couldn't decide, we ended up ordering all three clay pots: the Sake Oyako Meshi (grilled salmon & salmon roe), Unagi Meshi (BBQ freshwater eel), and Tori Soboro Meshi (braised ground chicken). Out of all of them, the Unagi Meshi was easily my favorite. The eel was tender, slightly smoky, and coated in a sweet-savory glaze that soaked into the rice underneath, making every bite incredibly satisfying. The clay pots also gave the rice a nice crispy layer on the bottom, which added even more texture. We also shared two of their signature pizzas: the Mentai Kinoko and the Nasu Curry. I wasn't expecting much since it's pizza at a Japanese restaurant, but they were honestly so good. The crust was paper-thin, crispy, and light, so it didn't leave you feeling heavy afterward. The Mentai Kinoko had a great balance of spicy cod roe, snow crab, mushrooms, bacon, and cheese, while the Nasu Curry had a rich curry flavor that paired surprisingly well with the eggplant and cheese. Both were huge hits with my family. The restaurant itself has a warm, traditional Japanese atmosphere that makes it feel cozy and inviting. The server was incredibly friendly and helpful, taking the time to explain the menu and recommend dishes when we couldn't decide what to order. Their recommendations definitely did not disappoint. My whole family left happy, and it's one of those restaurants where I already know I'll be coming back to try even more of the menu.
