    Beef Chow Fun

Ahhh dim sum after Thanksgiving! So what do you do when you're recovering from a Thanksgiving feast coma? Dim sum of course! With us celebrating Thanksgiving at mom and dad's in Punta Gorda, all 11 of us trekked here post-turkey day for a family lunch. Being here reminded me of the childhood days of having dim sum as a family after a holiday or special event. Only thing missing was the push carts that we could pick the dishes ourselves! Nevertheless, the food is delicious and priced affordably. We ordered all the classic dim sum dishes which included the pork shu mai, pan fried pork buns, shrimp dumpling, spinach shrimp dumpling, steamed beef rice roll, and pan fried turnip cake. Also added the beef chow fun, lo mein combo, and the crispy peking duck. Every item was straight up fire and we had plenty of leftovers to take home. We were surprised there were no pancake rolls with the duck and instead were given the soft bao buns; but everyone ate those and probably secretly liked that version better! Even the kids ate everything on their plates (thank god)! Service is fast and the people here speak fluent chinese so you know the food here is legit! Super glad this is in Port Charlotte; this will definitely be part of our rotation when we go out for lunch/dinner!

Another update: Another great visit to Ginger Dim Sum on Memorial Day weekend. This time I went w one of my favs-BBQ combo w roasted duck and spare ribs accompanied w Lucky Buddha beer. Roasted duck was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, spare ribs were pure delight as well. The service was friendly and attentive . One of my fav places to dine in Charlotte county.

I have been planning on trying Ginger Dim Sum since I heard they opened. Finally, one Saturday, Mom and I decided to go for lunch. We got there right at opening and the employees greeted us right away. Our service was amazing as was the food. She was attentive, friendly and warm. The food was reasonably priced. The ambience was welcoming and inviting. We will definitely be back. By the time we left 45 minutes later, the place was filling up so apparently this must be a great spot to go to, if it's that busy and popular during off-season.

Aways a go to for good Asian food. The service is kind of slow clearing off the tables. Overall a great, affordable restaurant.

Shrimp lo mein with veggies. Where are you shrimp and veggies?

We got take out because it was Friday in season in Florida so I thought it might be crowded and I was tired. I had read about every review and knew what I wanted. The Yang Chow fried rice was good and colorful. The lo mein with shrimp and vegetables was cooked well, but the vegetables and protein here were minimal. It was almost as if they have a measuring cup to add the good stuff that makes the dish and they said, " nah, it's to go, just cut back. So I really give it a 3.5 but want to go in and sit down and see if you get a touch more than just a ton of noodles. They were tasty noodles but for 35.39 I can do it better at home.

I have been wanting to try Ginger Dim Sum for a while. We went tonight and it was Extremely disappointing. I have to believe the four and five star reviews are from family because although the service is polite, they are not helpful. I said I needed some suggestions and the response was a smile. I went with the fried eggplant for an appetizer because I saw it mentioned here. It was fine but plain. I ordered Kung Pao Shrimp and it was flavorful but too salty. I had to request a side of rice separately to make it palatable. Husband got chicken lettuce wraps. They were good but he had to pay for an additional four pieces of lettuce . He also ordered the crab corn soup and it tasted like a can of cream corn heated up . One and Done. Yelp friends beware.

MONGOLIAN BEEF lunch special ! This was the BEST!

Another great experience! Went for the Dim Sum lunch specials; left with a full belly ! Started off with Dim sum and Crispy pork belly. That bbq sauce they serve with the pork belly was so unique & perfectly paired. The fried pork and vegetable bun was my favorite, the texture was like a bao bun. The almonds also made the shrimp ball very crispy and nutty! Can't wait to go back and try new dishes! The Mongolian beef was the BEST we've ever had. The mango chicken was very light and refreshing- we think it would be even better if the chicken was battered and fried - like they do the orange chicken! Bistro Lo mein wasn't pictured- but still MY FAVORITE HANDS DOWN! Don't forget to get some hot oolong tea! I think it's the Perfect pallet refresher!

We ordered a variety of dishes to share, including the beef and broccoli, honey walnut shrimp, seafood XO sauce chow fun, braised eggplant, spring rolls, and the hometown scallion pancakes. The standouts for me were the honey walnut shrimp, which had just the right balance of sweetness and crunch, and the seafood XO sauce chow fun, packed with flavor and loaded with shrimp and calamari. The braised eggplant was silky and delicious, and the beef and broccoli was a solid classic done well. The only miss was the hometown scallion pancake. I was expecting a traditional pan-fried version, but it came deep-fried instead. It was still tasty, just not what I had envisioned. One tip: rice is ordered separately, so keep that in mind when placing your order. And definitely ask for the chili oil. It adds a wonderful kick and takes many of the dishes to the next level. Overall, the portions were generous, the food came out hot, and there was plenty to take home. A great option when you're looking for flavorful Chinese food and enough leftovers for the next day.

When I complimented it, the young man said they made the noodles. "We've 7 to 8 people in the kitchen on weekends." Simple and clean decor. The yellowish Jasmine tea tins are neatly stacked on the shelf, soothingly. One pot of orchid - couldn't tell if it's real. The location is convenient, right off I-75. Wish they would add two wisps of leafy veggie to the beef chow fun, which is the norm, and better vinegar. 3% surcharge for credit cards. The server also said the location opened 3 years ago, and the one in Sarasota 7 years ago. "Yummy House is ours, managed by two sisters; King by brothers." One will soon open in Jacksonville: good luck 马到成功 -:) By the way, one of the chefs from their Sarasota location left to open their own shop, named Dim Sum Kitchen. No wonder they gave me a tight face when I unknowingly asked about the names: so similar and so close in spelling. Ok, heading down to the tennis - Miami Open. Today's sunshine may be the last we see, because the weather forecast calls for rainy days.

Had lunch there recently when I visited the town for a race. Definitely the best meal I had there,…read moreand my server was one of the best I have ever seen. The restaurant has a large menu featuring different ramen (dry or w/ soup) and rice dishes, as well as appetizers. I tried their steamed vegetable dumplings and the pork ribs dry ramen. Both dishes were fantsastic. It was the first time that I had dumplings filled with endamame+minced garlic. It was savory and slightly sweet. The meat in the ramen was fork-tender and full of umami; the ramen was chewy; and it was served with a wide variety of fresh vegetables (zucchin, broccoli, carrot, onions, green onions, corn, microgreens, pickled ginger). The ramen was ~5oz. PS: the noodles are salty -- ramens are meant to be salty. Service was awesome. Several things that my server impressed me: 1. He asked me about my food allergies -- important for seafood-dense restaurants like a Japanese restaurant. 2. I asked for some extra ramen when I just got the entree. He suggested to bring me the extra when I almost finish the ramen in my entree. Surprisingly, he brought a small bowl of ramen exactly when I was about to finish it -- very precise and customer-oriented. 3. Food was served in a reasonable amount of time. 4. When he was taking the order of another table, he gave recommendations to the customers based on their dietary preferences, instead of blindly mentioning the "signature dishes" like most servers do. Moreover, when the customers ordered food, he squat down to listen what they said carefully. So, yes, I speak highly of this restaurant. Definitely recommend it. And I will dine in it again next time I visit Naples.

One of our neighbors used to live in the area and recommended anything in Tin City for lunch. We walked to Tin City from the free parking structure just off 5th Avenue and, while we found the area mildly interesting, we didn't like any of the typical joints along the water. Besides, having eaten at Dockside in Venice the day prior, we were looking for something other than seafood. In looking at Yelp, we were intrigued by Ichi Togarishi so we walked back towards 5th Avenue. Located just off 5th Avenue, this small place would be quite easy to miss. Upon entering, we realized how snug this place was. We were seated promptly and presented the menu. My wife ordered the Chicken Veggie Shoyu Soy Ginger and I had the Chashu Belly Garlic Noodle. We both liked our dishes, with complex, bold flavors. The Chashu belly was tender with sweetness and soy flavor shining thru. Its flavor profile reminded me of Pad Thai. A very nice find in Naples!

All the food and drinks are absolutely delicious…read more I didn't realize they have a different menu on the weekends than they do on a weekday. I've been looking at weekday menus, so I inadvertently brought us on the weekend when the menu was different and didn't have things my kids would eat. However, my husband and I really enjoyed the food. I tried a Matcha latte with oat milk and Ube cold foam. It is amazing, no notes. I would get it every single time. We also tried their soup, dumplings, steamed chicken dumplings, pickled vegetable side, pork bun, and shrimp and pork bun. I can't eat the buns since I don't eat pork, but everything else was amazing. One of my sons did end up choosing a chocolate croissant so I tried a little and it was very good as well. This isn't your grocery store croissant. It was buttery and flaky with a good amount of chocolate. Inside is filled with eclectic decor, and you can purchase the art on the wall. Everyone who worked here was very friendly. They have a small parking lot out front, but this place isn't around a ton of other things so I would assume parking is no problem. If I lived closer, I would come back for the Matcha latte alone. I would definitely recommend checking this place out.
