5 Stars from a newbie in town. (A town with a teriyaki store for every coffee hut, which is every thousand feet!) Steered here from bad reviews of Ichi Teriyaki, which is closer to me but both empty and cautionary in nature, I'm glad we found Ginger just a few blocks down the road. MOUNDS of hot, fresh food, and a very agreeable price. Had both the beef and chicken... were fabulous. No leftovers, but if I weren't so ravenous, there would have been ample food left over. SEVERLY disappointed!!! We frequently get food from this establishment, we truly loved the food! BUT the last 3 times we've been we end up with gigantic portions of rice with barely any portein, as well as inconsistent flavor. We decided to give it another go round this evening! HUGE MISTAKE! I called in for 1 item 30 mins ahead of time, when I arrived the owner was behind the counter and looked up at me and walked to the kitchen. I understand she was preparing other orders or cooking, but she walked out and saw me yet again standing there. I waited another 5 mins and was still being ignored, I quietly said excuse me and she stuck her finger up and told me "YOU HOLD ON" I said well I'm just picking up a to go order! She said "YOU WAIT" I was shocked at her tone and rudeness. I said "you have ignored me for almost 10 mins" she said "you wait" what the??? I said no thank you for the food and she could keep the order! She glared at me and walled back to the kitchen!!! We will NEVER give you our business again! I didn't order anything fancy, stopping in for three orders of chicken teriyaki to go, and a little short on time. Walking in, I was impressed by the cleanliness of the store and the variety of the menu. The woman at the counter, who I assume is the owner, was very friendly. It only took a few minutes to prepare my order, neatly wrapped in two plastic bags. The owner handed them to me carefully, and then literally ran in front of me to hold the door for me on my way out and wish me a good night. One full star, at least, for the kind and efficient service. The chicken teriyaki was well-prepared and generously portioned. The fresh salad was served in a separate container. The chicken was cooked nicely and there were three scoops of rice. I'm a big eater, and it was plenty for me. A great value at $6.99. I don't live in the area, but I will make time to stop here the next time I'm in town to try some other items from the menu. read more

Best teriyaki place around or anywhere really. I've been coming here since high school (over 10 years). I think the owners have changed since then but it's still great food. Eat in and you get miso soup with your meal. The simple teriyaki chicken is my favorite. All their meals are good though. The rolls are good too, nothing over the top or fancy, just simple quality. Don't be fooled by other teriyaki places just down the street with good deals, Ginger is always better! They have lunch time specials which are always a good deal too. read more

So if you'd asked me last night after we ate the take out what to rank it, I'd have said four stars. It was good, solid cheap teriyaki style food. Ask me today, after we realized we lost a wallet in the restaurant and then dealt with the owners who found and stored it safely until pick up, I'm giving 5 stars. I was very impressed with the honesty and professionalism with which they dealt with our wayward wallet. Cash and all was in tact when we recovered it, and the lady was super nice. Also, I dug on the lunch vibe in there when I stopped by to fetch the wallet. May have to stop in for some soup sometime. For healthy eaters, the low down is that it's not as bad as Chinese (or as I expected), although it's still not eating clean. I am sensitive to MSG/sodium but didn't have ANY of the normal issues that I tend to have after eating cheap Chinese/Vietnamese food (trouble sleeping, water retention, etc.) -- nada. So I'm not sure what they are doing, but it's one of the few Asian places (other than nice sushi places) that hasn't given me sodium-related issues. So I will eat there again, would like to search out their healthiest dish. Maybe they have a veggie teriyaki for next time. We had the spicy chicken teriyaki and the mongolian beef. I liked the beef more because there were veggies mixed in (I like veggies), and it had a nice crisp. I wouldn't get the smoked salmon rolls again; sushi snob, I guess. The side salad was a simple but solid little salad; you don't come across fresh iceberg too often and the dressing was good so it was a nice change. My husband and I were in the area for a wedding and came to this place because of its high rating. On a Monday afternoon we walked in and their was only one other table with guests. The woman working immediately brought us a little soup bowl. When we placed our order, our food was out within 5 minutes. The serving sizes are huge! I couldn't finish mine, naturally, and the woman asked if I wanted a box to go. I told her I couldn't because we were getting ready to fly back home. This is your typical teriyaki joint. Located in a strip type shopping area nestled between a laundromat and a UPS shipping center kinda place. It has the air of most teriyaki restaurants and that seems par for the course. I'd like to see more fine dining teriyaki establishments one of these days but for now I guess they'll just go with what works. The food was pretty average. If individual teriyaki places were a chain, you could almost count on this type of quality across the board and for me, that is just mediocre. Nothing really stood out as being any better than anything else that I ate there nor any other place that I've eaten for that matter. The chicken wasn't dry so that was good and their gyoza were good but those are kinda fool proof. The sauce was almost too sweet and for teriyaki, that is saying something. I ordered the lunch special of teriyaki chicken and General Tsao's chicken and I can honestly say that they need to figure out how to make General Tsao's or just stop altogether. The cincher on this visit was the price. Nearly $30.00 for 2 of us to have lunch? It wasn't good enough for me to justify spending that much and because they charge so much, I won't be going back again. You can order at the counter if you want, but most just take a seat and server will come right. As a starter, they give you a little bowl of soup to keep you occupied while waiting for your main course. The chicken here is tender and the portions are pretty generous. This place isn't bad but wasn't WOW. We ordered teriyaki chicken no sauce no rice with steamed veggies. General tso chicken no rice. My teriyaki chicken no sauce was covered in spicy sauce. Teriyaki is one of my favorite to-go foods (behind maybe only a well timed pizza delivery from Papa Johns during a Hawks game) and I can easily say This is my most favorite one. I can't come out here as often as I wish since I live in Tacoma but there is no better spicy chicken teriyaki in the business than at here. I don't even know what else is on the menu because I already know exactly what I want when I come. The portions are perfect size for an adult male (meaning if you're with your family, looks like dad's gonna get some seconds!) as I've never left hungry. And if you're worried about spicy being too spicy, fear not it doesn't require as high of a pain tolerance as you would think. Just try it and be amazed. Also it's owned by the sweetest family that's been running it for so many years. I got to meet them a while back and I've always been greeted with the most welcome of arms and smiles. Talk to the mom and be prepared for a conversation of authentic kindness or her son who actually comes by after working at his daytime job because he loves supporting his hard working parents. And you'll never see Dad the cook slaving away in the back but know that the best compliment you can leave him is an empty plate. The best teriyaki I have ever had. My family always gets the teriyaki. One takeout order is easily enough to feed two people or leave leftovers for the next day. Their teriyaki sauce has just the right flavor. Each meal comes with a salad as well. Their dressing is to die for. We got spicy chicken teriyaki and it was really good. The teriyaki had a slightly sweet taste to it , which help cut out some of the spice. The sticky was good and not undercooked. The salad dressing you get with your meal was really creamy and tasty. My only complaint I have was our drinks. We got our order to go and I grabbed 2 drinks from the cooler. When we got home and opened them they were flat. My husband checked the expiration date and the sodas were expired by a couple of days. I have never got expired soda from a restaurant before but I am sure that isn't a good thing. read more
