In town for a concert. Friends told us this is the place for chicago deep dish. Food: greek salad was tasty, but looked sad and small. Leaves were bordeline wilting. My travel buddy said it looked terrible. It tasted pretty good. Tbey charged me $2 more than the price listed on the printed menu. $8 for a small sad salad, felt like insult to injury. 3 stars for the salad. The boneless wings seemed to be from the frozen aisle. 2 stars. The Deep dish pizza. We did half special and half Hawaiian. FANTASTIC! Both halves were very good. The only critique is that the veggies (mushrooms, onions, peppers) would probably taste better if they'd been sauteed in pan first. He told me h'd keep my glass full. Approximately 5 minutes after i had emptied both my and my companion's glasses (he had a water bottle, Antonio got the hint and sent somebody to come check on my water regularly. Inside, we were greeted warmly, and despite showing up with a party the size of a small fleet and no reservation, the staff had a "no worries" attitude and got to work setting up a big table. While we waited, we admired the retro diner-style decor and spotless restrooms (always a sign of good things to come, in my book). Once seated, we met our waiter--equal parts charming and hilarious, with enough brotherly love to make a Philly native proud. He walked us through the menu with personality and pizzazz, suggesting the Trio Sampler and calamari to keep us satisfied while we waited on the star of the show: the deep dish. The Trio (bruschetta, chicken fingers, and fried mozzarella squares) was... fine. Comfort food with no frills. But the calamari? Lightly battered, perfectly crisp, and served with fried banana peppers and lemon slices. I could live without fried lemon slices for the rest of my life, but hey, points for creativity. My mom and nephews also tried the chopped salad. Our server Thomas was WONDERFUL! We were in town and of course we had to try out the pizza, it was recommended to us. I forgot the name of the appetizer, it was a combination of the appetizers which was pretty good. We ordered a thin crust, pepperoni pizza with pineapples on half. This is in no way or shape to deter you from trying the pizza out, but in my OPINION, the pizza was ok, I'm not a big pizza eater, and the crust was good, but I just couldn't lie and say it was the BEST pizza. Server Svetlana hailing from Russia was my server and she had time to have short conversations with me before the dinner rush started in the dining room. First and last visit was for a carryout deep dish sausage special. I gave them more than the necessary time needed. The carryout team prepared the pie, viewed it then handed it to me. In retrospect, wished I too would have had a look. The top of the pie was barren of any sauce. Whatever was put on had dried onto the top layer of breading. First time seeing a dry pie at Giordanos. Have heard of this occurring and seen enough negative commentary online but bummed this happened. The pizza was too dry to enjoy. Ended up having to make our own sauce to go with. With receipt in hand I send an inquiry to management ten days ago. If I decide to go with Giordanos again, it would only be from my local or the Dempster location. I got take out from Giordano's Pizza and I I think I just like thin style pizza better. Don't get me wrong. It was still amazing and super filling but I thought it lacked a lot of meat and too much dough. I could barely taste the sausage in the pizza but I like that it was stuffed with veggies. The tomato sauce was also piled on thick which is probably the one thing I love the most about deep dish, I loved the crispy and thick crust which I think is a 10/10. I understand the hype around deep dish pizza and it was good but I wouldn't go back. We arrived at O'Hara airport and decided to try the famous Chicago's deep dish pizza. We found Giordano's in Yelp and decided to try it as it was also near the airport. Even at 2pm, the place was crowded, the servers were good & got us a table within 15 minutes. We learnt that the deep dish pizza has a wait time of 45 minutes. We decided to order some food first, we had the Italian beef sandwich, it was piled with slices of beef that comes with au jus. It was yummy, beef has a great flavour to it. When the deep dish pizza arrived, the server was kind enough to serve us the pizza. There's a certain way of serving the deep dish pizza. That pizza was not for the faint of heart. We ordered chicken sausage with mushrooms & spinach, the pizza was good, it was so rich that I can only manage a slice. Overall a very good experience of Chicago's deep dish pizza with Giordano's. The ambiance of the restaurant was lovely with a great atmosphere with lots of parking available. If you ever go to Chicago, check them out, this is a chain restaurant. read more

I started with the Calamari & More ~ Tender calamari tossed with lemon rings and banana peppers, lightly fried and served with our house-made marinara sauce. The deep dish pizza takes about 45 minutes to bake, so I thought I needed something to do while I waited. This was absolutely the most tender calamari I've ever eaten. Perfectly fried. And while I loved the fried banana peppers, the fried lemon rings were a little much. The bitter/tart combination just didn't do it for me. But still, some of the best calamari I've ever had. For my pizza, I ordered the Special ~ sausage, mushrooms, green pepper, and onion. Oh. Emm. Gee. This was incredible. Now, I'll confess, ordering the calamari to "bide my time" was a mistake. I could only finish two small slices of the pizza. But holy cow. This was SO GOOD! The best pizza I've ever had. So thick and luscious and just absolutely packed with fillings. The cheese just OOZES as you work your way through a slice, and the crust is both crispy and chewy and just holds everything together perfectly. I CANNOT recommend this place enough!
