I have to say, I was very disappointed in the tiramisu that was delivered to my house for my father's 81st birthday. We also ordered a gluten-free tiramisu as I am gluten intolerant. The traditional tiramisu was one big serving of heavy cream and not enough ladyfingers. You couldn't cut into it and get a nice piece on a plate. It was more like a pile of mushed up ladyfingers and heavy cream. The flavor of espresso was overpowering. The gluten-free tiramisu was even worse. All of the espresso pooled on the bottom of the tray, and when I went to go serve myself it again was one big slop on a plate as opposed to a nice piece of cake. I'd read about this tiramisu on the infatuation and being Team Dessert I was super stoked about trying it. I had inquired weeks in advance via their request form asking when the next delivery date would be and entered my phone number and address. I was given a date in June, which seemingly worked out for me since I wasn't ordering this for a special occasion, solely ordering to try. I'm not often just sitting around the house, if you know me I'm typically out especially on a weekend. This girl needs to be outdoors. I wasn't given a specific time frame for delivery and this was a bit different. I started my day super early in an effort to be home, and told myself I'd keep myself busy at home with a long bike ride. As Saturday began to tick away and afternoon approached, I began to wonder why this hadn't been delivered. I did have evening dinner plans and would be leaving. I emailed them to ask but never received a reply. This is when I began to tell myself, oh no... thank goodness I didn't order this for an occasion because this delivery and communication strategy is not up to par for a business, large or small. I hadn't paid for the dessert and delivery yet, which felt like the only saving grace. Sure, maybe some time waiting around was wasted but I hadn't lost any money yet. Then, a text message came into my phone saying my delivery would arrive in 5 minutes. I was soooo excited! Hopped off my bike, and received another message the driver was here. But... when I tasted it, I did not like it at all. I've enjoyed tiramisu's better at the little local Maria's Italian Kitchen which is saying A LOT, if you catch my dwift. I've also traveled throughout Italy with a girlfriend on what I began to call our Tour De Tiramisu because we were literally having one at each and every meal, all so delish. I've had them in Paris at Italian restaurants and they were superb. When I say, this was the worse tiramisu I've had I nearly feel bad (keyword: nearly, because if there's one thing she is it's honest folks!) but that's what Yelp is for, personal opinions/experiences - different strokes for different folks. I need to realize when everyone thinks something is incredible there's a good chance, I won't see it or be impressed even if I'm looking forward to it and assuming I will. It's been nearly a week now and the remainder of it sits in my refrigerator uneaten because my friend didn't like it either and my son took a peek at it and didn't seem willing to try it. I love supporting a small business and a rather cute idea, but I can't in good faith say I enjoyed the taste or texture of our dessert. I feel I wasted $40 (via Venmo, which is convenient) because I'd rather pick up a slice in a container around the corner for like $7bucks. Honestly really bummed with my experience with Giovanni's. I ordered a tiramisu for Father's Day, that Friday I got a text it would be delivered two days early, which was obviously unexpected. Then I waited around my house all day Friday to make sure someone was there for when it was delivered. I kept texting the phone number to get updates with little to no response. Friday ends and nothing was ever delivered, nor did I get any updates. The following day I texted the phone number saying it was never delivered, and they responded saying they sold out. I do have one recommendation though.
