I usually like going to this chain, but this specific one was just all around bad. Its the same as all the other ones, but what made me dislike it was the one who was cooking my bowl. When he cooked it, he told me, "there's not enough sauce to cook it. It will just stick to the grill." I told him to add a bit of oil or use water, which is what all the other chains do without having to be told. Mind you that what I added in my bowl is exactly the same thing I do in all the other chains. This was never a problem. So he then took it upon himself to drench my bowl in terriyaki and house sauce. Looking at him, I can tell he is not much of a chef. Water would have suffice in cooking the bowl, but I guess you need "a bowl of sauce to make something taste good." I just had a bad experience in this Mongolian BBQ. Stockton is way better. The chefs are older and knows what they are doing. This one. The cooks are just college kids making some quick buck and doesnt really know anything about cooking. This post can be removed, due to it being more of a complaint. However, in this restaurant, there is not much to review. You go in, grab your bowl of whatever you want cook, and they cook it in front of you. So the cook makes or breaks this restaurant. You don't need to drown your food in sauce to add flavor, you just need the right amount. Apparently mines wasn't sufficient wnough for him. Photo of the food will be posted. This is one of the dirtiest restaurants I have ever been in. When you first walk in the two glass doors were covered in handprints and fingerprints as well as the inner two doors. The carpeting was so dirty. It was actually black where people are walking. The floor around, the Mongolian bar lineup was littered with food from the buffet bar. When I arrived at my table, the seat was dirty. The table was dirty, and the sauces on the table were so crusted and dark on the lids. I was afraid to use the bottles when I got up to pay, I went to the cashier kiosk and it was absolutely filthy and grimy. The food was good but everything else was a bad experience. I hate to leave bad reviews, but I've been to this restaurant three times and it's been this filthy every time so I couldn't not say anything. read more

Honestly... if you're in Turlock and want Mongolian BBQ just go to the mall in the food court... it's so much better! I've given GK a few tries purely because it's conveniently close to me,but every time I'm disappointed by the burnt flavor. Very disappointed. I ordered four of the build your own meals. We asked for no noodles and it was nothing but noodles. I asked for meat and chicken and it had one piece of each. I have always been a fan of your restaurant and try to go once a week. This was very unsatisfactory. The pot stickers were good however. This Location used to house my favorite Chinese restaurant. Decided to give the new Mongolian food a try at lunch. Walking in, we were confused as to what to do, there were no instructions and we were not greeted by any staff. Followed a couple other patrons who had been there before. Self serve from a help your self line, which was so messy, disgusting, had not been cleaned up since they opened that day. Still, no instructions either written or verbal. We just followed like sheep, and it looked and smelled like sheep had been in there all day. Finally a staff member says sit where ever you want. We'll, I didn't want to sit anywhere. The carpet was the original carpet from previous occupant and has NEVER been cleaned, its filthy, and smelled. Booth seats all have big worn holes, and rips. I could not find anything clean anywhere. Only good thing I could say was the food was edible. We only had a small flimsy fork to use as a utensil, no knives to cut the tough pork. This is such a great idea for a restaurant, but We will never return to this location. read more

One employee cooking while there's eight people in line, and there are five employees walking around doing nothing. 3. Service is slow and snappy. Can you eat it the meat is so old tasting the soup was bland the rice came out kind of day old hard at least make the vegetables taste like fresh. I had to wait for my utensils when I told him I wanted chopsticks he said I have to go get it myself and then he tried to charge me for $2 and then he saw that no I didn't go for second act I didn't finish my first left that. The order had everything that I ordered except the ingredients of my two dinners were completely wrong. I would've eaten it if it was good but it wasn't. When I made my complaint to door dash, I received a $6.60 credit to my door dash account. 2 dinners alone is a little more than $20-. Friend and I finally ate here after hearing a wide range of reviews from people we know. Both of us agreed that we'll definitely be back. Lots of meat/veggie choices and an endless choice of sauces. Is the line a little "dirty" at times? Of course it is because people try to overfill their bowls and are slobs, but when the lined slowed down the workers always cleaned up, so this is not an issue in my book. Food was great. Meat and veggies were very fresh and it was cooked just right. I especially like the fresh sliced jalapeno option. Getting steamed rice and egg flower soup was a nice treat. They have beer here if you want a cold one. Two of us ate until we were stuffed and had two beers each and our bill was only $39. Like I said above, we'll be back! read more

I just found this place today..... And wow, What a great place!! When you walk in go ahead and pick up a Bowl and fill it with everything you like. They got Beef Pork Turkey and Chicken. Pick how much noodles you want, and then add the veggies and the sauces. When your done hand over the bowl to the cook. Then they pour your bowl onto the flat round grill table. We weren't there during a peak time though so I'm sure it gets a little messier during those times. It's self serve with the meat and veggies so it's really customers who are making the messes. I love the concept of choosing your own meats, veggies and sauces. It's so customizable. I just wish they gave bigger bowls! My eyes are always bigger than my stomach though. I was SUPER full from my meal so I shouldn't really complain. The complimentary eggroll and soup they give is NOT good-- don't waste stomach space for it! Went in tonight with my boyfriend and the waitstaff were amazing and attentive. The cooks were blank didn't talk. No greeting! We asked for certain thing that were empty the workers used their bare hands. We said please and thank you and got nothing a single word from either one of the males on staff. The guy that took my bowl and gave it back his finger nails were disgusting. We need to re teach servsafe. The food was ok. The cabbage was black on the ends, spinach was wilted like it was spoiled, the bean sprout pm hasn't been changed in awhile there's grey standing water in the pan, the baby corn tasted rancid as well as the mushrooms, onion, water chestnuts, our pork was just alittle undercooked. I really wish gk would make their service and quality of food better like the Stockton hammer location. The hammer location has been the cleanest and service is amazing and the cooks are great and the food is never ever rancid in taste. We even asked for a towel to clean the counter for them because it had obviously been neglected for along time. Oil stained my boyfriends shorts because it was spilling on the floor from the counter.
