It had bacon, pickled onion, pickled asparagus, pickled green beans, pickles peppers, celery, creamy horseradish, and several hot sauces. There were several options for the tomato juice part of the Mary: Clamato, spicy house, original(?), and secret ingredient. I wanted to try the secret ingredient but they were out :(. On this early evening we walked into the bar grabbed a table and Travis came to serve us. Drinks are expensive, but I choose the least expensive; Sangria and it was delicious. Then my search for vegan food began nothing...until in small print I saw vegan options in the pizza section! I ordered the mushroom pizza. We ordered ribs and salad the ribs were DISGUSTING! The sauce did not taste like BBQ sauce! It tasted like stale ketchup... The Alaskan Salmon BLT salad was ok at best I could've made this on my own... it's quite pricey for the quality of food. Parmesan fries were good. We sat in the bar; no lines, no waiting. Our server greeted us within 2 minutes. She was perfect. She kept our drinks full. This place is by far THE best restaurant I have been to. Visiting from the Bay Area in California, this was my first trip to Alaska. I have been to restaurants in San Francisco, Napa, Sonoma, Monterey. You name it. I was here for 5 days and ate here 4 times. The service is outstanding. It's a bit pricey but so worth it. I had fresh caught Halibut twice. Smoked salmon dip and grilled asparagus with shaved Parmesan. Salmon BLT salad for lunch. My husband had Halibut fish and chips. The chowder is ridiculous. The peanut butter pie is very rich. Enough for three or four people. All I can say is I love it here. They smoke everything with Alder wood and it is incredible. Tonight is our last night and we are going back for dinner .... again! Oh and I forgot to mention all the fabulous craft beers local on tap and their bourbon/ whisky selection. Rustic yet sleek atmosphere. Their calamari appetizer is addictive! The fried jalapeños is a perfect compliment to the tender calamari and the tasty sauce. I've enjoyed the fish tacos for lunch and the shrimp scampi for dinner and would recommend both of these as well. This place was SUPER crowded on a Saturday evening. They told us 30 minute wait when we checked in but it was more like 45. Once seated our server was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I was teetering between their self proclaimed famous pizza and the halibut. She suggested the halibut and I went with it but should have gone with the pizza. The portions were a good size but the entire entree lacked seasoning and was bland. I had to doctor it up with salt and pepper and that barely made it palatable. My husband got the seafood fettuccini and the shrimp in the entree were pathetic and minimal (there were like 3 in the total dish). Aside from the server being nice, the only other highlight was their availability to make most entrees gluten free. The Glacier Brewhouse was just a short walk from the Captain Cook Hotel where we stayed at the end of our Princess Cruise. The ambiance and most of all, the food was simply amazing! It came with six or seven little potatoes the size of large grapes and roasted Brussels sprouts that were so oily the oil oozed all over the plate. We were very excited to visit Alaska and most of all taste the seafood. We were seated in a cozy spot by the fire. Great ambiance. We both ordered the mixed seafood plate since that seemed the best option for yummy seafood. I do cook fish on the regular, so we both have a decent palate on what's good. The scallops were undercooked, the shrimp was covered with butter (when you're paying that much, it should not be drenched in butter as the go-to) and the salmon was over cooked like it had been sitting under the warmer too long. The potatoes were old and the Brussel sprouts were burnt and unrecognizable. Talk about disappointed! My meal ended with fish chowder (which was a highlight). The service was excellent, but I can't give a thumbs up for the food. Maybe it was an off night or customers are not used to quality prepared fish, but from my experience I would try another restaurant for Alaskan seafood. read more

Brew house is usually a great experience but of late I haven't had the greatest experience due to recent lack of customer care. I've been a brew house regular for years now but I feel like since recent summer season that Alaskans have been treated subpar. I want to give Brew house the review they deserve but recently my meals have been rushed and under cooked. The service was great but the kitchen was rushed and didn't give the customer the attention they normally receive or deserve regardless of being an Alaskan or not. I wish I could recommend friends and family but due to recent lack or customer respect, I will be referring my friends and family elsewhere. I order to go 2 separate times and was disappointed. First my ribs came dry with no barbecue sauce, second my jambalaya was 25$ and I got half an order which was under cooked and had 2 pieces of chicken. The chowder was good, but salty. I heard another diner say the same. The slaw was drenched in mayo/dressing. The fries were average, also battered. My husband got the seafood pasta. Oh I love seafood. I sat at the bar around 11:30 am and the place was just starting to pick up; by 12:30 pm it was totally packed. Definitely set up to be good for large groups. Sitting at the bar, I had very quick service and my food was out immediately. I had the seafood chowder which was very good but the highlight was the ahi salad. The salad was fairly large with a generous portion of sesame ahi on top. The base consisted of crispy wontons and the salad dressing had just enough kick. read more
