The Glacier BrewHouse had been recommended by a friend, so my family and I dined there on a Sunday night. What an incredible restaurant. We had made reservations, and I'm glad we did. They seated us within minutes of our arrival (we were early), and our server, Kristen, stopped by almost instantly. We made our drink and appetizer orders, and she came back with the beverages within five minutes. The appetizers arrived about ten minutes later. I had a bowl of the seafood chowder, and it was amazing! Textured perfectly, and quite sumptuous. My wife and kids enjoyed the pretzels and cheese appetizer, which I sampled, and it was great. Main courses arrived not long afterwards. I had a shrimp salad with mangoes and apples on a bed of leafy greens, with grilled shrimp on skewers. Fantastic! My wife had crusted salmon on rice; excellent, as she let me sample hers. My one boy had a hamburger and fries, the other had a cheese pizza, both from the kids' menu. The hamburger was really good, and the pizza was gone before I could get a bite! For dessert, I had the bread pudding. I know: everyone raves about the Peanut Butter Pie. I was raised on bread pudding as the go-to dessert from my dad's side of the family, and they would be very impressed with the dessert at the Glacier. Thick, with a wonderful glaze, I have to admit I couldn't finish it, and I felt guilty as the last two bites sat there staring at me. Went in with a buddy. Found a place in the bar and the place was packed. Great beer selection, some of the most unique I have seen. Beer finished in whiskey barrels. Mine was great and there is a few more I would like to try. If I had just went for the beer it would have been 5 stars Besides the beer the food was probably 2 star. The halibut was over cooked and dry, the mashed potatoes were warm at best. Everything was excellent, from the pleasant staff to the delicious food and awesome beers! The atmosphere is homey yet modern (lots of wood and mellow lighting, but enough that you can see your food and the menu) and we got our food quickly, which was especially surprising considering how packed the restaurant was. All four of their homebrews that we ordered were delicious and I would have had more if I hadn't been so stuffed with yummy food and the other beers! Tip: If the restaurant is full, they allow you to seat yourself in the bar area, which is almost half the size of the restaurant section. We ended up in a shared space at one of the counters, which was just as nice. They offer the same service as if you were sitting at the restaurant, so it's a good option if there's a long wait but still space at the bar. read more

Glacier Brewhouse was recommended by a work colleague for great food. Therefore, we went there on Saturday night. We did not make reservations and were told that the wait would be approximately 75 minutes. After several time estimates that came and went, we were seated over two hours after checking in. Definitely, this is not an acceptable way to impress guests. The person who seated us apologized for the wait and said that we were being given a free appetizer. We selected the pretzel logs with fondue. This was the best part of the meal. Since it was so late, my wife opted for a Caesar salad and pizza. I ordered a Caesar salad and the herb crusted halibut. While both were good, they did nothing to create a wow factor. The service was adequate - nothing special. When the bill came, it included the cost of the appetizer. After getting this rectified, we paid and were glad to leave. Our experience was a huge disappointment. The biggest frustration was the inability of the hostesses to provide accurate information on the wait time. We were not alone in waiting this long and being frustrated with the inaccurate information. If we were to go to Glacier again, we would definitely make reservations. read more

We ate there last week, unfortunately one of us has a shell fish allergy, but my mom decided to join us anyway. The assured us that her food would be prepared in a safe and separate environment, and it was no issues at all, thank you! We all had different beers with 3 very different pallets, all were wonderful my favorite was the oatmeal stout. Mom had pizza to play it safe as she dose at seafood restaurants. The seafood chowder was off the hook. My wife had the salmon, as it was coming out the manager stopped our waitress and sent it back to the kitchen and said it wasn't up to his standards, there's something I don't see ever day. When it did come she couldn't stop talking about it. Now my turn, all I could think about was King Crab legs from the minute I walked in, and boy was I not disappointed! They were wonderful and a full serving of 4 legs! A+ in my book. So many great places we have eaten at on our time in Anchorage. Had the best service and food!!!!! Everyone from being greeted at the door, to when we were leaving. Tyler was our waiter and he was awesome!!! Had a cup of Seafood Chowder and garlic prawns to start. Chowder was so good, my husband is from east coast and said it was one of the best he's had!!! The garlic prawns were tasty! They are in a creamy garlic sauce with artichoke hearts and rosemary bread pieces. Then we had the Cod stuffed with shrimp and the Pesto halibut. We shared our fish so we could taste as much as possible. Lol. So to be honest the Cod was ok, but not as wonderful as I expected. However their garlic potatoes are wonderful. Now for the Crusted halibut, it was amazing!!!!!! The pesto crust is light but flavorful and the halibut is great! Comes with garlic potatoes and spinach salad. I usually don't care for restaurants spinach salad because they always want to welt them with hot bacon dressings. But this was not wilted and not a lot of oil. I really enjoyed it, had flavor of herbs and balsamic not bacon grease. If your looking for bacon flavored salad this is not for you. So everyone really should go and try this place. This was our last night's meal in Anchorage on a wet and chilly day. We were so glad to get in out of the rain and into the welcoming atmosphere inside. As others have mentioned, it was packed, with long waits for the dining area, but my boyfriend and I went to the "seat yourself" bar area and got a table easily. On a Friday night no less! Our server, Jeff, was great. Very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, he made suggestions but didn't push anything on us. The food was definitely the star of the evening for us. I've eaten a lot of great restaurant food in my time, and I thought the food at Glacier Brewhouse was excellent. I had the sockeye salmon with grilled asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes, seriously delicious! My boyfriend had the Alaska king salmon which was tasty but not as tasty as my dish! After, we were still a little peckish (read: greedy for more delicious food), so we also ordered a bowl of the seafood chowder to share. This was honestly the best chowder ever, it was so so creamy and tasty. Finally we finished up with the bread and butter pudding for dessert, which was quite sweet but so yummy. The beers we got to go with our food were pretty good too! It is an expensive place, so be aware of that going in, but honestly, it was all around an amazing meal. Front told us to check out the bar seating as it was open, but we found that full and discovered an uncleared table with a bench on one side, so we fit in there. I ordered a open-faced bacon sandwich.. it was TOP. My wife was a little displeased with what she had- a salmon pasta dish. Fun place, a bit over priced. Food was decent but pricey. We most enjoyed the fried calamari that came with little bits of jalapenos that had also been fried - really yummy! My salmon was fresh and tasty but my husband's halibut was dry and overcooked - gotta be careful with that kind of fish! Overall a good stop. I made reservations 20 minutes wait, upon arrival we encountered a long line, we went around and headed straight to the bar...found two seats at the bar...only open seats in the house, a good sign. I ordered king crab, 1/2 lb $$$ $32.00 Good, but not great, wife ordered salmon well done, wasn't cooked through, 2nd. one the same. Salmon was comped...as should be. Walked up thinking this was a small dive, as it was located in a small trinket mall, but was totally impressed once I walked in. high ceilings and exposed beams gave the place tons of charm and Alaska feeling. Wait was 40 minutes, but tables around the bar are first come, so we grabbed an open one. Started with the local brew and salmon spread. Both we excellent. I have the fresh salmon special with wild rice which was good (had better in Kenai). My friend ate the ribs that fell off the bone. He loved it. So food was good and service was great. Downsides are the price, it was expensive even for Anchorage, and the bathroom are outside int he public mall. read more

I stopped by Brewhouse twice during my visit to Anchorage. It was conveniently next to the hotel I was staying at and Yelpers seem to love this place. We came on a Tuesday night and it was surprisingly packed for a weeknight. We were told that the wait would be 40 minutes. Our party was starving at this point, but decided to endure the wait to see what all the hype was about. After only 20 minutes, our table was ready. Whew! Turns out we didn't have to wait too long. I was very excited to try out their crab legs. It was on my bucket list to get king crabs at least once while I was in Alaska! By the time it came out, I was ready to dig in. However, I was disappointed after a couple of bites. The crab legs were overcooked, giving the meat a rubbery texture. It was also extremely dry. My colleague also got the crab legs and she thought the same thing. I really wanted to like the dish, but was left unsatisfied. Definitely not worth the price. Thankfully, I got the peanut butter pie for dessert and that saved the night. My second visit here went a lot better. I started out with the calamari, which had a really nice kick from the jalapenos. For my entree, I got the herb crusted halibut - simply delicious and perfectly cooked. The crust on the halibut was outstanding. They also have a nice selection of beer. The Blondie was on point! If I ever find my way back to Anchorage again, I'll probably come back to see what else they have to offer. read more
