I have to admit NOT the best soft serve ice cream on the North Shore. Sorry, but it just isn't that good. They have a great business because there really isn't anything else around in downtown Glenview selling ice cream. So they have the market. Kids and families flock to this place and the lines are pretty long in the summer. Personally, I drive by and head to Dairy Queen where the ice cream is better and the blizzards can't be beat. But I totally understand that people love nostalgia and riding their bikes into the old downtown area. Cute, but not that good and over rated. read more

I have been going to this place since my childhood and it still is my favorite soft serve ice cream. Their famous dipped cones are what to get when you come here. My favorite is the peanut butter dipped cone. The hard shell is crunchy and the peanut flavor is so amazing and strong. The ice cream is so creamy and refreshing. I also enjoy their sundaes. BEST SOFT-SERVED ICE CREAM EVER!!! I love soft-served and maybe it's because this place is family-owned that I love it so much. It's something that is unique to Glenview. It's this little "hut" and they do everything in there, such as making your ice cream, nachos, and cashiering. My favorite is the butter pecan chocolate coating on the outside of the ice cream. I believe the dip the cone in the chocolate and then flash freeze it. It creates this crunchy exterior. Parking is a little difficult during late night summers. They only have a few spots, and the parking is pretty compact. Also, I wouldn't park in their lot because the seating is outside. One of the last remaining places where you can get a nice cold soft serve (cone or cup) in the spring and summer; and even dipped too in chocolate (I think) and cherry. Sundaes and banana splits are good as well. Worth going, good for the kids, close by the Post Office that used to be and next to the Metra train station. Absolutely love this place. Growing up in Glenview, the Dairy Bar was a staple of every summer. The ice cream is delicious, it's in a great downtown location, and it's cheap. When I went to Loyola Academy sometimes I would go after school to get some ice cream. Dairy Queen may have been right next to campus but this ice cream was worth the 10 minute drive. read more

I would prefer some place that looks immaculate, is tiled with fancy granite, where the walls and decor reflect some kind of Italian gellateria, and preferably serves an amazing cappuccino. This place is amazing. I take the train out to Glenview a few days a week for the day and always pick up a chocolate cone while waiting for the train back to the city. I haven't had a dip cone, mostly because the straight up chocolate is so good, but I see several folks enjoying them each time I'm there. I used to go here a lot when I worked at in "The Glen". They have this awesome low/fat low carb soft serve ice cream here. I'm not even on a low carb diet by any means, but this ice cream is so delicious that I would get it a few times a week and not feel bad about eating it so much.
