I arrived for my appointment with some time to spare to fill out any paperwork since I was a new patient. The young man at the front desk was very nice and throughly went over what information was needed and my copay amount through my insurance. Dr. Hwang completed my eye exam and she was very thorough. Luckily my injury was minor but I'll be back for a follow up appointment. I decided to make them my primary optometrist office moving forward since they're a lot closer to my home and I had a great patient experience. I recommend their office!

Before surgery, my prescription was around -10.00, and even with contacts I struggled to read text on my phone at night. I often needed both contacts and reading glasses just to have a chance. Less than a week after surgery, I'm seeing around 20/25 and can comfortably read even fine print. The procedure itself was completely painless, and the recovery has been far easier than I expected. As amazing as the results are, the real reason I'm writing this review is because of Dr. Parikh. Two days before my scheduled surgery, he noticed something abnormal during my pre-op exam. Instead of proceeding, he refused to do the surgery until I had my eye evaluated by a retinal specialist. Obviously, I was disappointed because I had been looking forward to finally getting the procedure, but he put my safety first without hesitation. I asked if there was any way to get in quickly, and he immediately started texting people in his network from his phone. By the next morning, one of his colleagues, Dr. Silva, was able to see me. It turned out I had a torn retina that needed to be repaired before ICL surgery. After the retina was treated, Dr. Parikh and Dr. Silva stayed in communication directly with each other over the following weeks. I didn't have to coordinate anything--they handled it all. Once Dr. Silva confirmed my retina had healed, Dr. Parikh rescheduled my procedure. To me, that's what separates a great doctor from a good one. Dr. Parikh wasn't focused on getting me into surgery as quickly as possible--he was focused on doing what was best for me. He even made himself personally available by text throughout the process, which gave me a tremendous amount of confidence. The entire staff at Furlong Vision was outstanding from start to finish--friendly, professional, and incredibly organized--but Dr. Parikh's level of care genuinely went above and beyond. I couldn't recommend Furlong Vision more highly. If you're considering vision correction, you'll be in excellent hands.

I just switched to see Dr. Cheng this year. It's very good experience. Dr. Cheng is professional and very patient during my eye exam. The staff, especially Joyce Chen, is very friendly, which makes my first eye visit with Dr. Cheng even more impressive. I went in for a contact lens fitting because my current lenses weren't fitting properly. I explained that to the doctor at the beginning of my appointment, so he knew exactly why I was there. After the exam, he gave me one trial box in the prescribed power and said it was the only box he had. That's only about two days of wear. I told him I didn't think that was enough time to know if the lenses fit well. Instead of giving me more of the same prescription, he gave me one trial box in a lower power. That also only lasts about two days, and one pair has to be saved for my follow-up visit. So in reality, I only had about one day to try each prescription. I even joked that maybe I should wear both prescriptions at the same time. He said some people do that and told me to give it a try. But I came in because my contact lenses weren't fitting properly. One day simply isn't enough to know whether a contact lens fits properly. The doctor seemed busy, so I asked the front desk if I could get just two more days of trial lenses in one of the prescriptions so I could properly evaluate the fit. The woman at the front desk said she would check. Before she even had a chance, another employee walked by and, without stopping to understand my situation, loudly said they don't give out lenses just because someone asks. She kept repeating, "You need to wear those when you come back for your follow-up." She never asked how many trial lenses I had received or what the doctor had recommended. She didn't ask me a single question before making a judgment. I came in seeking help with a contact lens fitting, but instead of trying to understand my situation, she dismissed my concern without ever speaking to me. After that, I saw her walk into the back office and begin talking with the owner while looking in my direction through the glass wall. I could hear her mention that I was asking for more lenses. I don't know what else was said, but it made me feel even more uncomfortable and judged. I asked if I could speak with the doctor again, but I was told he was busy. I then asked for a copy of my contact lens prescription. They said they would email it to me, but instead I received a link to create a patient portal account. When I opened the link, all I got was an error message that said, {"message": "URL not found"}. I tried the link in both Chrome and Safari, but neither worked. When I called the office, I was told they couldn't email my prescription and that I would have to drive back to the place to pick it up in person. I paid $299 for the exam. Patients have the right to receive a copy of their contact lens prescription. A broken portal link and another trip across town is not a reasonable way to provide it. After my visit, I learned that the practice has new owners. I also noticed several recent reviews from other patients saying the service had changed after the ownership change. I honestly wish I had read those reviews before making my appointment because my experience was very similar. If you're considering this place, I encourage you to read the recent reviews first. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I can't recommend this practice, and I won't be back. Overall, I've had a much better experience with Costco Optometry.
