    seafood soup

Met some friends for weekend brunch here last weekend. Gloria's is always a solid choice (now that I know never to order their tortilla soup...based on a prior visit that I didn't write about...because it has bell peppers) for good food and drinks. Three of us ordered margaritas and we enjoyed them but the waiter didn't let us know he was bringing us top shelf margaritas instead of the house margaritas, which is what we thought we were ordering. The top shelf margarita was really good but we were surprised he assumed we wanted that vs. the house and didn't ask us to clarify. One friend ordered the seafood soup, I ordered the sopes, and the two others ordered other items. Everything was good and it was easy for us to converse it are back corner table. I know I'll be back again in the new year!

    Chimichirru salmon salad

Came here with coworkers for a lunch out, had the salmon salad with chimichurri sauce. I've never had it before and it was really tasty. I'll have it again. My coworkers had such a great time. I was the one suggesting to come here for lunch. We had the churros for desert and one of my team members loved the bean sauce that comes with the chips. I love the ambiance of this restaurant, the light comes in every corner, the food is great, and the space is terrific. I've always have the best service when I come here and that's what we had with my team this time. We all want to come back!

Just had chips and dip. The variety of diff ups was good with beans and 2 salsas. They were fairly quick with service. Open concept and good music.

Last night was one of those nights--the kind that reminds you why good food + good people + good service is undefeated. We celebrated my dear friend Christina's birthday here, and everything was on point from start to finish. Let's talk food first, because whew. The Verdes--three chicken enchiladas smothered in green tomatillo sauce, topped with queso fresco and fresh cilantro--were flavorful, comforting, and perfectly balanced. Served with Spanish rice and pinto beans, and every bite showed care and consistency. The Red Snapper Tacos were fresh, light, and delicious. Three generous tacos with pickled slaw and chipotle ranch, paired with refried pinto beans and Spanish rice. You could taste the freshness, and nothing was overpowered or heavy--just done right. The Churrasco Típico? A full plate of joy. A 10-oz top sirloin cooked beautifully, Spanish rice, black bean soup, fried plantain, yuca, and chimichurri sauce that tied it all together. Hearty, flavorful, and satisfying without being overwhelming. And the birthday girl was treated to a complimentary slice of flan--creamy, Spanish-style custard with vanilla and egg. I've had flan before, but this one? Top-tier. Smooth, rich, not too sweet... absolutely perfect. Beyond the food, the service was excellent--our server and the bartenders were attentive, friendly, and clearly knew what they were doing. The restaurant was clean, welcoming, and yes--the bathrooms passed the test (and that matters). Even better, Christina brought her daughter Gracie, and the baby enjoyed herself too--always a win. Great food, great service, clean space, joyful atmosphere. This was a night well spent, and we'll absolutely be back.

Party of 4, my first dining experience at Gloria's at the domain for dinner on a Saturday evening before Christmas. Very busy and spacious. They have some outdoor seating. We were surprisingly immediately seated near the bar area. Our waiter greeted us and took our beverage orders, then the chips, salsas (green and red) and black bean dip arrived. All those dips were delicious that we couldn't stop eating the chips! We ordered entrees that consisted of the Combination plate, mariscada soup, ceviche with orange roughy, and Gloria's super combo. Everything was delicious. The only downfall was the beef fajita that was on the combo plate was very tough. The house margaritas were delicious! We'll be back.

Shrimp enchiladas with queso instead of sour cream sauce

Gloria's Latin Cuisine is one of my favorite places to enjoy a nice meal in north Austin. Their patio location at The Domain is such a great place to enjoy the sunshine and people watch at the mall. In cooler months, they also have space heaters, and in the summer, they have fans. They also have a salsa dance scene on the weekend and very popular brunch. For my most recent visit, my mom was visiting me in early December, and after a string of cold AF days (for Austin anyway), we got some milder weather and sunshine, so we headed to Gloria's for a late patio lunch on a Saturday. They were still serving the brunch menu too. I got my usual favorite: Shrimp enchiladas with queso on top instead of sour cream sauce. This comes with 3 enchiladas and rice and beans, so I always have to-go for the next day. My mom tried something new: a shrimp quesadilla, which was so delicious I would get it next time. Our server's name was Regina, and she was so attentive with refills on our tea and water, chips, and to-go containers. The patio and inside was bumping, but she never kept us waiting. I have always had excellent service here too. My only critique is that Gloria's recently got these new pretty patio chairs, but they aren't nearly as comfortable as the older kind. It is a bit harder plastic. They are smaller with shorter backs, so I wish they had both some of the old options for #TallPeopleProblems. See y'all next time, Gloria's!

The atmosphere is great. We're sitting out outside on the patio and it's 77°. It's beautiful. We are eating some delicious food although my chicken tortilla soup for the second time now has no chicken in it. Luckily, my husband took some chicken out of his enchilada and I put that in my soup. Otherwise it's very delicious. The waiter is super nice and the service is always good but I just didn't wanna bother someone again because last time I had to do that when I came and I didn't wanna ask again for more chicken there was absolutely only vegetables no chicken whatsoever in my soup.. but I still recommend this business. It's a great restaurant. I need to add that our waiter Angel was amazing and kind and helpful and we really enjoyed having him for our server.

Conveniently located close to shopping and hotels. We were seated quickly. If the weather had been a little more warm and less windy we would have sat outside. Service was quick. The chips and salsa were good. My enchiladas were a HUGE serving and tasty.

Visited Gloria's in The Domain with a large group, and it was super easy to get a reservation. Even without one, the weekday wait before 6 pm wasn't bad at all. The food was pretty good, and the service was solid. Our group was overall pleased with the menu options, though a few of the dishes could have used a bit more flavor. The atmosphere was lively and enjoyable, and the staff took great care of us. Overall: 3/5 for food, 4/5 for atmosphere, and 5/5 for service.

Gloria's is an incredible Salvadoran restaurant! The food, drinks, everything is always so good and the drinks are strong if you're into that kind of thing. (: They also serve chips and salsa with a black bean dip, which is simple, but to die for.

We were super hungry after shopping at The Domain, so we just walked in and were seated instantly indoors. The ambiance is very relaxing bright during the day and dim and cozy in the evening. We went for dinner, and the curtains near the windows were half-closed, which made the lighting soft and easy on the eyes. There is plenty of indoor seating, and they also have a small outdoor area. If the weather's nice, it's definitely a good option. As soon as you are seated, they bring chips with beans and salsa. I ordered the house margarita on the rocks, and my partner got the spicy mango margarita, also on the rocks. The house margarita has a limit of two per person and it is strong but still tasty! One was enough for me. We told our server we wanted to take our time enjoying the chips and salsa with our drinks, and he was great that he didn't rush or pressure us to order right away. When we finally did order dinner, the food was delicious and came in perfect portions, especially if you pace yourself with the chips and salsa. Highly recommend!

Sopa de Pollo! Hot and delicious!!
    Camille A.

Had a random craving for soup when a light cold breeze hit and Gloria's did the job!! Our server recommended the Sopa De Pollo and it was my favorite against the Chicken Tortilla Soup. My bf also ordered the tamales which were fresh and hot. Their complimentary chips, salsa and bean dip are always a hit. The service has always been consistently good and the restaurant is usually very lively! Interior is also clean and the dining area is huge. Gloria's is a great spot for a quick lunch or dinner.

    Wendi K.

I am surprised this spot is not rated higher! We came on a Thursday for dinner, and my boyfriend mentioned it was one of his favorite restaurants. In a city full of small, expensive-plate restaurants, the food here is very well priced and generously portioned! The menu features both Latin American dishes (such as ceviche and sweet plantains) and Tex-Mex options (enchiladas, burritos, etc.). The margaritas are strong, and the complimentary chips, salsa, and bean dip are wonderful. I had the chili relleno stuffed with shrimp ($19), and it was fantastic! I actually appreciated that it wasn't breaded and fried like the usual chili relleno. It comes with a side enchilada and a choice of sauce--amazing! Be sure to get the queso sauce, so good! The staff is very attentive. My only minor complaint is that the interior is just okay; the tables and chairs don't quite fit the space and feel a bit old. Never mind that because this spot is still wonderful :)

Interesting to see on the table, but to each his own.

Yes they do, they beef fajitas and chicken and combination of beef, chicken and shrimp.

How is the night life here? Does it get too crowded Sat nights?

The last time I was there were only allowed 25% capacity & it was not too bad. Since they are allowed 50% capacity it will probably be a lot busier. I would definitely get there early.

Met up with friends and one of them loved the authentic vibes. When we're the only non-Hispanic people in a relatively full restaurant it's a good sign! Usually "authentic" when on the cheaper side means that it's cheaper quality but full of flavor, as people with lower incomes know how to make great tasting food that's filling for a lower cost - hence how ox tail and po'boys got created and has becomes staples. I can definitely attest it's authentic, however the taste and food quality is a tad lacking. Carne Asada - my friend said... I'm still chewing it when I asked how it was. Definitely low quality piece of beef, however not made any better by the flavor or the way it was cooked. Fried Fish - definitely the star! Slightly overcooked, but still juicy and tender, the fish had an excellent flavor. Warning it can be a lot of work to avoid the bones! (one friend had a tough time, while the other had it eaten in just a few minutes) Papusas - Mediocre. Good enough to fill the craving, however not the best showcase for the famous El Salvadoran dish. Good amount of filling and with ok taste. It could use more salt and be cooked a little crisper on the outside. Make sure to ask for the cabbage topping in case they don't bring it out - it was nice to see that the container for the cabbage had a prep date. Chicharron - Overall a little overcooked, but I feel like this is typically the case every time I've ever had it at any restauraunt. Chewy and overall good flavor. Tortillas - Thick!! And homemade! Yucca - I wish now I had known they had fried yucca, as it's harder to find than one would think in Austin. Make sure to ask for this fried treat, as it's 10x better than French fries!

It was pretty packed inside so a server had us wait outside on the porch until a table opened up. Soon after, we were seated and looked through the menu. We decided on two pupusas with a tamale to share. We got one revuelta and one chicharron & queso pupusa. The revuelta was hands down our favorite - the meat was so tender and it was amazingly flavorful. The chicharron & queso was good too but we would probably just get 2 revuelta orders next time. I was not too impressed by the tamale and next time would probably just order a third revuelta instead! Our server was kind and attentive throughout the meal. We mostly spoke in Spanish so would just be aware of that if you visit - would help to be able to place your order in Spanish! The room was moderately sized and good for either bigger or smaller groups. They had some really cute Salvadoran decor. I would certainly come back here when I'm next in Austin!

I can't forget the chips and salsa... normally, I don't have any reason to write about either, but the chips were fresh and the salsa was really unique, chunky, mildly spicy, and extremely flavorful. I had to add some on top of my pupusas as well! The service was fantastic - the food and drink came out in a very timely manner, and the server was super friendly, making sure that everything was delicious.
