Yes, the food tastes great, but it's not worth the aggravation. The wait was excruciatingly long (over one hour, sitting at our little table with nothing but iced water), the service was surly (like being waited on by grouchy, sullen teenagers), and when the food finally did arrive we couldn't eat it because... they didn't have enough clean silverware to provide us with knives and forks. I was here on an early afternoon when they were not really busy. The service provided by the hostess was sub par. Speaking from experience in the service industry, I'd expect someone who is working for more than just their hourly wage to be slightly more welcoming. On the next note I felt a hint of coldness coming from here, maybe that's because she was having a bad day? or maybe because I was black man, but they way she poured my coffee and very carelessly slung the coffee pot in front of me s dripping it everywhere without even bothering to look back to see if she spilled, kind of rubbed me the wrong way. The food was excellent. Although that same waitress failed to bring me the extra syrup I asked for because immediately after dropping of our food in what seemed to be a rush, I look over and see her engrossed in a txt message. Then her co worker walks in and she has the biggest smile I think her face could probably make. Where was that smile when you were greeting your customers? As I finished my food, I hear them playing hard core rap in the kitchen (mind you this place is about the size of a studio apt so the music was well heard). My whole take on that is, a restaurant should be blaring rap music using the "N" word and other vulgar language, especially when everyone in there is white. That I found a little awkward. Ok I went in having read other reviews. I was prepared for a wait. Unfortunately the wait was fine but the service was unreasonable. We were seated relatively quickly but then promptly ignored. It took 10min for anyone to even acknowledge us to get drinks. Water was brought out but the coffee we ordered was not delivered. Our waiter disappeared for most of our time there, so we flagged someone else down (who was so nice and helpful) and she amazingly brought it right away. We then ordered food and one orange juice with the meal. The food came, 45min after we ordered it, but the orange juice never appeared, even after 3(!) requests for it. My in-laws got the eggs Benedict. And yes they said it was the best they had ever had, which at their age is saying something. The coffee was also nice and strong. I moved to Seattle from NY a decade ago. I must be spoiled my the classic NY borough's 'luncheonette' culture. You want HOW MUCH for breakfast, I thought??? I come from a world where a plate of eggs/bacon/toast should cost about $6 bucks, TOPS. Hearing young hipsters talk about the privilege of waiting 20-90 mins for a $12 plate of French toast or Poppyseed pancakes or EggsBenendict in a cramped & claustrophobic little room w/in eye&nose/shot of the stinky bathrooms, served by attitude-adjustment failures is a crime against restaurant culture. I don't care HOW hungover and grateful for food you are. I ate here ONCE, years ago and have never been back b/c the experience was so very UN-memorable. Small place so the wait can be a tough one, especially Sunday morning. Because of this, there is a possibility of you being sat right next to the doors of the restrooms. Right next to them. The food selection is likewise somewhat small, but competent and satisfying. (How many types of breakfast foods do you need, anyway?) Years and years ago, Glo's was a go-to breakfast spot for my friends and I. A week or so ago, I was driving past and it occurred to me I should stop in sometime...and so I did. Though a decade has passed since I'd walked through their doors, the quality of food and service remains just as superb as I remember. Had been meaning to try Glo's for awhile, but the line was always long during my normal 11AM weekend breakfast time. Got up early this Sunday, and now I understand why there's always a wait. Really tasty breakfast and the menu had lots of vegetarian options. I found the food more flavorful than many other "fancy" brunch spots in Cap Hill. When it comes to eggs Benedict, I'm with Bourdain: there is so much potential for things to go wrong, eating them is an act of faith and trust in the chef. I eat them here. It looks like a greasy spoon, but the food is delicious in a way I'd expect from a cloth-napkins joint. They have ridiculous lines on the weekend. There's a reason for that, and it's not just the small number of tables - the food is that good. They put out coffee for the folks waiting, which is a nice touch, as well. Food is just OK (tried their egg breakfast combo and their French toast) and too expensive for what you get. The coffee is pretty good and not too expensive, though. Don't wait if there's a line. Went here this morning with a friend before hitting Emerald City Comic Con. Very tasty food but the pancakes were a bit small. But other than that minor quibble, a great place to have breakfast. The place itself is tiny so we had to wait a bit, but nothing too major, at least it wasn't raining. I prefer this place to Lost Lake (which can get incredibly loud) for breakfast. read more

As far as Seattle brunch at a small intimate hole-in-the-wall spot goes, this is my favorite place. I really can't ask for anything more than fresh diner coffee and their amazing Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict on a warm Sunday morning. The eggs are always poached perfectly. The hash-browns are always crispy (something that some of the larger breakfast spots can't seem to do no matter how many times I ask). And don't get me started on the side of fruit. This isn't your typical soggy canned melon based fruit cup. I'm talking about a super fresh, hand selected assortment of premium berries. Who does that?! When I eat at Glo's I feel like I'm are eating at a piece of historic Seattle. It reminds me that there are still a few places in this city where the soul hasn't been fully sucked out and handed over to big corporate interests. I usually state state the positive things first in my reviews but one of the negative things has been pretty glaring, and that is the slooooww service. If you don't mind waiting for 45 minutes to get your food then it's a great place to eat. I always get the glo's original scramble which comes out fresh and hot and is delicious! One other negative is that the place is small and cramped, but I guess there is not to much they can do about that. Weekend mornings (and early afternoon) is always very busy so call ahead to get a spot in line (often 45 minutes). I would recommend this cute little restaurant to anyone who visits or lives in Seattle. The food is plentiful and quite tasty. The first time my husband and I ate there we had so much food on both of our plates we decided the next time we went (which was two days later) we would share a breakfast. The staff graciously brought us our shared breakfast and even commented that patrons often share meals. We were not charged a splitting fee (which of course we would have happily paid) as I thought we would be. I was very impressed on how the staff was attentive to all who ate there and we lacked for nothing. I am very in tune to the quality of service I receive when eating out and I cannot say enough of the staff at Glo's. I came here today for lunch with my friends for the first time. Not even 5 minutes into the restaurant they put us at a large table with two occupants already seated. We were uncomfortable to sit five nearby the door and with people already seated. The host was rude when we politely requested to move the table slightly, the host declined loudly. I used to live a block away from Glo's and decided to give it a try one day since its always packed and crazy lines would form outside every weekend. I must say, I wasn't very impressed but rather disappointed. The place is in need of a serious makeover, is a big small, food was decent but I can count on two hands of others that exceeded Glo's and at a better price. Can't say enough about this iconic Seattle spot. The food is outstanding. Want to bathe in the Corned Beef Hash. Waffles with copious amount of fruit is a huge hit with the kids. Very large potions.
