Glo's is a small wedge of a space which aims to remedy empty stomachs. Any more than one waitress working the floor is a recipe for disaster. The space slows the service down a bit but proper organization lessens catastrophe. I've waited longer in other establishments so the wait time that everyone else experiences is not much of an issue to me. I figure if one is meeting up with friends than the time it takes to eat really shouldn't be that much of an issue. Talk to kill time. The waitress was nice and the food was decent. I can't really ask for more, but the prices are fair and that just makes me happier. Being a breakfast enthusiast, a well executed first day meal puts stars in my eyes. And of course, Glo's is good people watching too. A variety of people stroll on in for breakers in a variety of clothing choices. I could go on about scenesters but that really isn't the case here. My buddy and I came here last Sunday and were stunned at how super duper uber delightful our server was. He didn't do anything extraordinary and I didn't get the sense he went out of his way for us - he was simply a really great server with a generally awesome, pleasant energy about him. Yes.. a wait.... You will most likely have to wait to sit and eat. But, with very good reason. The place is tiny and the food is awesome! Sure, there will not be a wait at ihop or Dennys, but there is a good reason for that.. Couldn't find the place as I drove around the block twice because the sign wasn't that obvious, but maybe it's just my eyes cuz I could rarely see signs from afar anyhow. But my friend had already gotten us a table as she arrived before me and she said it was easy to get one surprisingly since they are usually really busy. When I arrived, there were groups of people waiting outside, but were all seated when we left. The resturant is a bit small, but I always had this theory that the smallest and most "rugged" looking restaurants were always the best tasting ones. Maybe that's just my theory though. =) I ordered orange juice, french toast and hash browns while my friend ordered an eggs benny. Their orange juice was really refreshing, french toast was marvelous and the hash browns were perfect! I couldn't have been more happier with my order, especially since I'm a hash brown fanatic. The only thing I didn't like about the place was the fruit flies that was around our table. Tiny tiny tiny! Three of us waited more than a half hour to be seated for a late lunch on fourth of July. Once we were finally seated, we were crammed into a back corner right next to the bathrooms and in front of a storage closet. Watching people squeeze past to enter the bathrooms wasn't really appetizing, but whatever, I can deal with that. The server was really friendly, though some of the other people working there didn't really seem to care much about what they were doing, and the clothing of the employees wasn't just casual, it was inappropriate. Bare midriffs and greasy, unwashed hair? Not cute. The food was good. Nothing to write home about. I can't even remembered what I ordered, if that says anything. There were several odd things about the place (like the fact that the bathroom was used as a dual storage space, with vacuums and chairs in it), but one thing that stood out in particular was that they didn't have ice. I asked for ice in my drink and they told me they don't have an ice machine because it wouldn't fit in the kitchen when they bought the building. Seems like maybe the owner could have re-thought the design or purchase, since ice seems like a pretty standard part of a restaurant. It was an okay restaurant. Would I wait again? One of the finest corned beef hash breakfasts I've ever had... and I've had a lot. Me and my sweetie stopped here on a whim for breakfast and it was absolutely perfect... my only complaint is that our stomachs aren't big enough to eat everything on the menu, including the ruthlessly decadent sounding marionberry stuffed french toast. So so good and worth any time you'll wait for a seat or your food. And a side note: this place has easily the most delicious hot sauce I've ever had in my whole life. called Secret Aardvark. It's kinda famous in the region, it's made in Portland and it's flippin' delicious. read more

While a bit of a wait, was well worth it. Split a stuffed French toast and California eggs Benedict with the wife. Hash browns were among the top I've had, perfect amount of avocado in the Benedict. My friends and I stumbled upon Glo's two years ago on a trip to Washington and I am so glad we did. Glo's is a family run, charming, tiny little restaurant in Capitol Hill. There are about 8-10 small tables inside so come early, I have always had to wait outside for a table, but it's worth it. (Wait is normally no longer than 30 minutes) The wait staff is kind and helpful, and the food is just fantastic. I have been to Glo's four times (whenever I'm back in Seattle I make it a point to eat at Glo's) and I have never had a disappointing meal. The waffles and pancakes are cooked to perfection as is the Glo's Original Scramble. The scramble is made of four large scrambled eggs, tomatoes, green onions, garlic, cheddar cheese and avocado and comes with toast and hash browns. Best hash browns I've had in a long time! First a note: I rate it as good for late night because on Saturday and Sunday they open at 12 AM. That would be Friday night and Saturday night. With so many of the bars in the area being open as late as 2 AM, that means you can roll out of the bar and stumble into Glo's for the best post-drinking experience possible (well, other than one that becomes more difficult to execute after drinking): a giant plate of breakfast food. I have been once, so my five star rating is based on a very small sample. However, I am fairly confident of the rating. The service was excellent. I had the one-egg breakfast with meat. I asked if their bacon was crispy, and the server responded, "It can be if that's how you want it." Ok, that earns a star by itself. And the bacon was crispy. It was perfect. The coffee cup was bottomless, and the roast is of good quality. The egg was poached exactly to order: on the light side of medium. I received a thick stack of good hash browns. The service was attentive but not intrusive. I was writing and they left me alone except when they noticed that I needed something. They kept my coffee cup full without me having to twitch a muscle. The place is very small, but it has that delightful hole-in-the-wall diner ambience. The decorations are cheesy posters of 50s era Hollywood, the cliched Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn motif, but it fits, and it works, and it's wonderful. My breakfast was less than ten bucks before tip. Prices are always a bit of a shock for me, but it's not the 1980s anymore, so according to the modern restaurant price scale, Glo's is more than reasonable. The portions were ample, but not excessive. Value is good. On my way out, I told the server, "You made a new customer today." He responded cheerfully. Folks complaining about the wait are complaining about something the restaurant has basically no control over. It has a wait because the food is AMAZING and word spreads. You can (AND SHOULD) call ahead! A 40 minute wait time is a lot easier if part of that wait is spent at home or in commute. The Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict are my go to. Hands down they make the best Hollandaise I have ever had. They are quick to fill up a half empty coffee mug and friendly. My husband and I have never tried anything here we didn't absolutely love. This is my favorite breakfast place in Capitol Hill, I just wish I didn't have to wait as long to get in. They've got a complete menu of your traditional American breakfast fare. As someone else mentioned, the hash browns are delicious, as is pretty much everything else on their menu - even the more unusual combinations. Those combinations are there for a reason - they are damn tasty. I used to get the regular stuff like the normal breakfast or pancakes, which are awesome. But, the truly outstanding items are the benedicts. Yum! They're always made perfect with the proportions just right between the egg, muffin, and everything else. Another nice touch they have is the fruit that comes with each plate. It helps offset the grease. (-: Practicalities: If you're not an early riser, expect a long wait on weekends. Dudes, I really do not like this place. First of all no matter when you get there for brunch the wait is going to be about a hundred thousand hours long. Yeah sure you can drink coffee while you wait but this is little consolation to me as I am VERY grumpy when I am hungover and hungry. In other news, I hate eggs benedict. They are so jiggly and terrifying and having everything on my plate soaked in shiny yellow goop is just not my scene. It should come as no surprise then that I have never tried Glo's apparently wonderful version of this abomination of nature. Their vegetarian biscuits and gravy dish is not good. I just don't like it. I know plenty of people who do, but I am not a fan. The gravy is a bit too sweet and the scallions only serve to intensify the sweetness. Blech. Get here early as the line gets long quickly. Seating capacity isn't more than 10-15 people so if it's late, and you're really hungry, I'd suggest going elsewhere. That being said, we've always had a good experience. They do a great job keeping your coffee filled up, the food comes out fast, and it's fun to be able to see the kitchen staff working hard on your breakfast treats! They always have a great variety of vegetarian options and lots of choices for different styles (sweet breakfasts, savory breakfasts, lighter meals, etc.) Be sure to check out the daily specials written on the white board on the wall-often the best meals are up there. My only gripe is that one of the hostess/waitresses (their roles overlap) wears a very strong perfume, which gives me an instant headache the minute I smell it. I was always taught that perfume and food don't mix- I wish somebody would teach her, as it's nauseating. Also of note, most of the tables are 2 or 4 tops. A-OK for a diner in CH. The food was a touch better than average, but isn't most of it in Seattle? Glo's is what it is...a hipster diner with a long wait on the weekend. Service was fine, prices are average, food was A-OK. My only issue is the mis-appropriately told wait times. Basically everyone that walked up to put their name on the list was told about 20 minutes. Yet realistically it was almost an hour. We saw many a couples doing this same list checking over and over during our hour long wait. Capitol Hill gem when it comes to breakfast. It's small, so be prepared to wait if you show up later than 10am, when all the drinkers from the night before crawl over for some yummy breakfast. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are generous. The quality is consistently good. The menu is pretty basic with a few creative sweet choices. I've lived in Seattle for 4 years and find myself coming here at least a couple times a month when I'm craving a simple brunch that I can trust to be tasty and filling. We looked on Yelp for quite awhile for a breakfast place which wasn't too pricey and served somewhat of a simple breakfast. We walked from the downtown area here. We surprisingly got seated right away, albeit right next to the bathroom doors. We were hungry so we didn't care. Service was friendly and we ordered breakfast right away. I tend to like places that have sustainable or organic food, and the menu hadn't stated about any of that, and we were hungry. Coffee was ok too. I had the veggie omelette and my boyfriend had the eggs Benedict. He was over the moon about those!! Said that they were the BEST ones he's ever had. My omelette was tasty too and the hashbrowns were done right, though I couldn't possibly eat them all. We were content! We would probably go back if were find ourselves in the area again. read more

OK so this place is small and they take along time. We did read the yelp reviews and learned what to do. We called in 1 hour in advance and went in on the later side of breakfast/lunch. We found a parking space directly in front of the restaurnat....Yahoo! and then we just had a 10 minute wait. It still took a while for the food to come, but the food was really good. We had the following: 1) Huevos Rancheros (w/o cheese and minimize the sour cream for calorie control) ( 5 out of 5) This was delish with black beans, avocado, eggs, and salsa accompanied by a beautiful array of fruits. 2) Salmon Benedict (5 out of 5)...the salmon was very tasty and we asked that it be served over whole wheat toast instead of an English Muffin and it still tasted good along with tomato and hollandaise. This was accompanied with hash browns which were also good. 3) Stack of Pancakes dusted with powder sugar for daughter (4 out of 5) The concensus was that they had a wonderful kind of fresh donut taste to them without the grease. 4) Service was very friendly, concise with the orders but really slow (3 out of 5) ...I'm sure this would have been worse if we came earlier or didn't call ahead. Hands down one of the best breakfast spots I've ever been to! I had the stuffed french toast with marionberry jam and cream cheese, and my partner had the Eggs Californian. AMAZING. I don't even know what else to say. Everything was cooked perfectly, including the hash browns, which for me can always be hit or miss. Waited 40-50 minutes to eat here. Not sure why. The food isn't bad but it's definitely not worth the wait. I also thought it wasn't worth the price and surprised to see all these 4-5 stars. SO true about the slow table turn around. They seem to not understand that the faster they turn tables around, the more mouths they can feed and hence the more money they can make. Pretty much agree with the review below... So far i've only had brunch at Glo's once, and the service was atrocious. We waited for well over an hour for our food, people seated after us were leaving before our food had arrived, and worst of all: the waitress refused to even acknowledge that anything was wrong, though we were clearly annoyed. That being said, my scramble was taaaasty. I don't even know what was so good about it, but i don't think it was just the long-ass wait. My friends seemed to genuinely enjoy their dishes too. What a great restaurant! My wife and I went here on a Friday morning and there was still a line and a wait of at least 20minutes but totally worth it. Glo's had Perfect sized portions and with phenomenal flavors. I ordered the Benedict with bacon and was blown away by flavor! The service great and very friendly and with good local coffee. Ambience was a bit lacking but then again the food was more than able to make up for this minor shortcoming. My wife got the Belgian waffle with fruit and whip cream and it was exactly how a waffle should be. Great hot chocolate, very good orange juice, taste like it was just squeezed. Ordered short stack pancakes and vegetarian biscuits and gravy (mushroom gravy). But I'm more than willing to get up early on a weekday for it. Also, everything you've heard about the mouthwatering coffee cake is true. But be warned! If you are going to complain about waiting for a table or sitting really close to other people or having to sit by the door, then you should just go to a Shari's or Denny's out in the suburbs.
