$60 worth of pure garbage. Crap at it's finest...STAY AWAY from this place!

DO NOT waste your time or money. This restaurant is pure garbage. We spent $60 and am totally disappointed . I ordered a 3 piece catfish for $24. Prior to ordering, I asked how were the portions. They said the portions were big pieces...oh hell nah! All 3 pieces equated to 1 normal piece. The fries were cold and not edible. The sauces they gave us tasted like dirt, straight from the trash. I will NEVER come back to this establishment, can't even call it a restaurant .

    So many meats! Perfect fries!

I just realized I never wrote a review for this fabulous establishment! Ok. Full disclosure: I've never actually been here. Only ordered through Uber Eats during lockdown. But everything I've ordered has been super yummy. I prefer provolone over the wiz. Sorry. The wings and fries are yummy. Still have many more things to try. This may also be an unpopular opinion, but I think the leftovers reheated in the air fryer are better than day 1. ‍

Straight cuts back-to-back. Whoever had control of the music understood the assignment. The atmosphere was chill, welcoming, and just had that cool, laid-back energy. The customer service was amazing as well. The lady at the front greeted us with such great energy that it instantly set the tone for our visit. Now let's get to the food. I had the catfish with collard greens, black-eyed peas and rice, plus white bread. My best friend had cod with mac n yams, red beans and rice, and cornbread. The sides actually came out before the entrée, and we were so hungry that we completely forgot about taking pictures of everything. The food was definitely giving comfort-food energy and was top tier overall. The catfish? Whew, so bomb and full of flavor. Oh and let's not forget the homemade tartar sauce. If I had one small critique, some dishes leaned a little more on the salty side for our preference, but not enough to stop us from coming back. We were actually too full to even try dessert, and now it's officially on our to-do list for the next visit. Overall: good food, good vibes, good music, and great customer service. We'll definitely be back.

I literally ate everything on my plate. Then we came back on a Saturday early evening. And the food tasted old. I noticed when I was checking my receipts on Saturday. The guy has said oh you don't have to tip because you're a huge party. When a party of six your tip is automatically included which is the 18%. and I was like oh wow we had six on Tuesday and I left a $25 cash tip. And he said although waiter should've told you it's automatically taken out and the 18% was already taken care of. And I was like no I handed the waitress $25 cash and she never said 18% was taken out and I didn't pay attention to my receipt cause I had children with me but then when I looked back in my car on Saturday night from Tuesday, I realize that she double charged me. So on Tuesday she got over a $50 tip. The waitress on Tuesday she was a Hispanic lady with dark black hair. She robbed me. So please be aware you're going with the party of six or more. They automatically take out 18% gratuity. And I did not like that because she should've told me that you don't have to leave cash. She knew my kids were crying and I was trying to yo leave and not distract the other guest. But on the positive note, the place is nicely decorated. And service is good. I just felt robbed, so for that fact I will never ever be coming back. If you were looking to try this place for the first time come early if you want hot fresh food. If you come later in the evening, the food does taste old.

I tell my non-Asian friends that they should leave an Asian restaurant if you don't see any Asians inside. I am happy to say we were the odd ducks in this place! Love me some legit soul food. The menu is straightforward. We ordered at the counter. The food is brought to our table. The food took quite a while with big crowds coming in after us. I suspect they cook in batches as multiple groups received food at the same time. It was mostly self-service (utensils, water) until the restaurant quieted down, then we saw servers cleaning tables, etc. The Food: Combo Dinner with two sides, $26 - 5 Stars The combo plat offers two meat choices. I chose the wings and catfish. The wings are sizable and plump. Highly recommend. The catfish was a thinner cut and a bit dryer. I liked the very thin breading on the catfish, not greasy, and it tasted good with Tabasco. For sides, both the collard greens and fried okra are excellent. In fact, I say the okra is perfection! The little corn bread is just right for me. I thought the corn bread has good flavor while hubby said it was too dry. Catfish Dinner with two sides, $24 - 3.5 Stars Hubby complained the catfish was too thin. He's not a Tabasco person, so that doesn't help. I gave him two wings to calm him down. Lol. He loved the hush puppies the best. They are huge with a wonderful crisp. I agree with him! He thought the yams are too sweet; they do look sweet in the liquids but isn't that want yams are intended to be? I think he just needs to order differently in the future. Note they have a 3.5% service charge for credit card purchases. See line on the menu photo.

The owner is delightful and engages you in conversation as she packs the food . The restaurant is showing its age, but remains one of the remaining soul food restaurants in South King County in Washington. I had the fried catfish, chicken, and fries. The thing about soul food is that it all about the seasonings. Now, I prefer the cornmeal/flour coating over batter; the owner does this well. The catfish was well seasoned and the fish was tender. This is the fine line between frying it until it's as dry as the desert or perfection as was done here. The same was for the chicken wings. Light coating, crunchy, and seasoned well. Now her cornbread is good, but she should throw her fires in the trash. They are overcooked and just a let down to an otherwise nice lunch experience. Since she only does take out or cater, the place looks more like a place of storage than a restaurant. It is quiet with mini refrigerators displaying desserts and soda. Surprisingly, the owner does not serve shrimp. A bit of a surprise and I would quickly get them for lunch if they were prepared as well as the catfish. I would rate higher, and keep in mind the the prices are higher than you would expect but happy to pay again if she smoothes out some of the edges of her space and sides that accompany such wonderful catfish and chicken.

Ordered the original Prawns for my son, they were dipped in a nicely seasoned batter then fried until crispy, jojos were seasoned so well my son didn't even eat them with ketchup. I ordered the catfish dinner that came with two sides. Catfish was fresh, well seasoned and crispy. The greens were so rich & flavorful you can tell they've been simmering slowly to create a bold hearty broth. The Mac & cheese was seasoned to perfection, this was grandmas baked Thanksgiving Mac not aunties Mac. I've had side dishes from plenty of "soul food" spots around town from Caribbean to BBQ and every place tries to do their own spin which turns out lackluster but these sides capitalized on comfort and make you feel like you just left grandmas kitchen with a plate of food.
