Their indoor decor was plain and simple, but their floor is obviously sticky and some utensils were visibly dirty. They have both bbq tables and non-bbq tables. PARKING: They have now reduced parking spaces due to the placement of covered outdoor dining structures by neighboring businesses in the lot, so street parking is an option. They also have a parking lot in the back, but I wasn't sure if it was for their customers. IMPRESSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS: Their meats are pretty standard in quality; the brisket was a bit chewy. In addition, we had their garlic pork belly, garlic sesame pork belly, baby octopus, garlic shrimp, cheek, jap chae and kimchi jjigae. One of the tongs was visibly improperly cleaned and the grill plate was oozing out some type of grayish foam as the fire heated up before we had a chance to place our meats. We had both replaced, but the same thing occurred with the grill, to a lesser degree, so we ignored it and started grilling. The wait staff was a bit overly attentive at some point in regards to taking order, but our grill plate was never changed. MY FAVORITE AYCE KOREAN BBQ Even though I live in the city, I make time to drive all the way to the East Bay in Oakland just to eat at this Korean BBQ. I don't even know why I'm just now writing a review about this place, since I've been here countless of times, but I completely recommend it to anyone and everyone! Ambiance: 5/5 There are on-street parking and a parking lot behind the complex. There are also plenty of seating inside, some in the back, the front, and the side of their open-concept restaurant. Since they have TVs surrounding the dining area, it's the perfect place if you're craving some AYCE Korean BBQ while watching sports. It's usually busy and clearly smoky in there, but it's never an issue. Service: 5/5 Service has always been fast with their attentive staff keeping everything going. The waiters/waitresses usually come by and ask if you need anything multiple times during your visit, especially to make sure you get the food you ordered or to monitor if your grill is burnt and need to be replaced. Food: 5/5 This place has an extensive selection of appetizers and meats. My absolute favorite appetizers are the Cheese Corn, Lobster Balls, Japchae, and Fish Pancakes. Going to Gogi was my first time ever eating Korean BBQ. Could not have asked for a better first time. Gogi is what I would describe as a whole in a wall restaurant. Very simple, nasty bathrooms, but wonderful food and their staff actually behaves like humans and not paid robots. What I mean by that is they were friendly, helpful, insightful as well as direct. For example the server we had said, "She could tell this was me and my girlfriend's first time there because we didnt eat alot. She said people typically stay there for 2-3 hours." With that comment I will be going back with my game face on and my stomach ready. And probably a larger group. All in all Gogi is awesome. read more

My friends and I came by on a Saturday evening, and checked in for a table of 4. The kiosk estimated wait time of 54-76 minutes, so we went downstairs to Blind Tiger for some drinks. Drinks were great, and the wait time was a lot less than anticipated! We ended up having to chug our drinks to go upstairs and get our table. Which made us all pretty tipsy when we tried to order food! We decided to go with AYCE KBBQ outdoor seating, which none of us has had since before covid. We sat down and got our menus and began to order. The menu seemed a bit smaller than before, but maybe It's just been a while and I forgot how it was. The meat was good, and always arrived in a timely matter. For some reason they kept forgetting our sides/appetizers, and other utensils. We either got it after reminding them multiple times, or never got it! My friend was really upset about that, as she ordered cheese corn three separate times, we never got it. We still wonder what happened to her cheese corn. When we were ready to pay, they mixed up our check with someone else's. Which was kind of funny after a few drinks, but in hindsight I'm giving them a 4/5 stars because they seemed very disorganized and chaotic. 1/29/25 Last night I ate here with my girlfriend and cousins. It has to be the worst experience with kbbq ever. Last time I went here was back in 2021, where every staff was attentive to all customers, last night was beyond terrible. There was about 3 staff members on the floor last night 2 female (short and mid tall) and 1 male (with a hat). We had the short hispanic girl, she is the worst server ever!!! She took our orders and took off. I remember we were asking for ice at some point not once but twice, and she never came. Had to ask the other female, thankfully she gave us ice for the water. When it was time to change our grill, the mid tall female asked if she can change it, while changing she asked us (the customers) to help her put the meat on the new grill, never had i have that happen before. I remember a big group of people just got done with their meals and it took them 30-45 mins just to clean the table, and it was not busy during this time. In the end it was obvious we were done eating, never did they ever come to check up on us or ask if we need anything else, i had to flag them down and ask for the check.. And as for the garbage on our table? Its still there!!! They never even cleaned up our table. Worst staff ever!! Appreciate the guy with the hat letting the short girl know "that table is ready" even tho she never did anything about it..... The staff members did not look busy at all, they were always chit chatting in the back. We made a reservation for 8 and were seated quickly to our table. Upon being seated, I made it clear that I was vegetarian and would not participate in the all you can eat bbq. The server said it wouldn't be a problem and kindly pointed out the vegetarian options on the menu which I could order a la carte. I ended up ordering the tofu bibimbap which was honestly bland and awfully proportioned. There was way too much rice and too little vegetables. The tofu on the dish was literally JUST fried tofu and the vegetables were barely seasoned. I relied on the gochujang sauce to get through the dish and had to ask for extra sauce to mask the blandness and lack of flavor. When our check arrived, they had charged me for the all you can eat bbq AND the bibimbap so I asked them to fix it which they did but the total came out to be similar because they adjusted their fees which was not cool. 7 all you can eat and a bibimbap plus tips and fees came out to over $300. There is plenty of street parking and also a parking lot near the main entrance of Gogi Time. I didn't find this out until later but it didn't matter because it was Sunday and I didn't have to pay the meter. I checked in with the host outside. He gave me a choice to sit in the booth or in the shade. It was very nice out so I chose to sit in the booth. We ordered from the ala carte menu: I picked the Korean fried chicken and fried king fish. I've been to plenty of Korean BBQ spots and when it came to the sides, we only had 4. Bummer. The chicken was good and we loved the king fish. My only complaint was the service. Not once did our waiter check on our table. The one time he did, was when i flagged them down for the check. I like the new outdoor seating set up they have. It seem private and secure, even tho I wasn't lucky enough to get a booth but I was able to get a bench seating next to it. It's block off from the sidewalk, so I felt secure and lots of privacy with my company. The food was good and the place was pack. I came at 1pm on Saturday, and glad to see it was pack. The food was pretty good and the service was great even though it was super busy. The waitress returned to checked on us a few times, and came back fast with any of our requests. For anyone curious on what kbbq is like during this pandemic, it's actually pretty easy. Workers are wearing masks at all times, utensils are disposable (with the exception of cooking utensils such as tongs and scissors), and the menu is QR code friendly. Dinning is not yet indoors. They constructed an area that has a plastic covering and a wooden structure that separates customers. There is also a canopy area that has tables that are moderately distanced. Had some very minor hiccups such as tongs that had food/residue on them - perhaps it was from the dishwasher and it was missed. Had a few items that were missing from the order even though we asked a few times. Honestly not a huge deal, it was very apparent they were busy and the workers were really nice. Overall, if you've been missing the experience of kbbq and feel comfortable to diner out I would definitely recommend coming here! It's as good as we remembered from all of our previous visits. Post-event Korean BBQ for the win! I usually hit Oghane when I'm in Oakland but this was right around the corner and we were starving. I'm glad to say that Gogi Time absolutely hit the spot. We of course did the all-you-can-eat menu with some Soju. They brought out a huge bowl of steamed rice, ban chan, fire gyeranjjim and kimchi jjigae as sides. We mostly focused on beef brisket, ribeye, galbi, bulgogi, and spicy pork belly.  The service was amazing. The quality of service at a KBBQ can make or break the experience. Our servers were quick with orders and always had meat coming out to us + refills. I also liked the size of the meat portions. Some places will try to overload you with one meat option, but Gogi's sizes were clutch to sample a bit of everything risk-free. Pricing: $37.99 for the AYCE, $14 for Soju. Was about $170 OTD for 3 people including tax and 22% tip. $55 a person, welcome to 2022. The value is great if you can eat a lot. Always great for a big party celebration. They take reservations. We like to sit in the back when it's a big party. Although the price got more expensive I appreciate that the higher price now means it includes the LA Kalbi. Always a good experience. LA Kalbi, spicy pork, pork belly were all good. Quarantine review: Gogi Time was the first restaurant we went to when outdoor dining opened up, and since then, we've gone A LOT, so I thought I should update my review to 5 stars. The outdoor dining setup is really great, and has only improved throughout the pandemic. They now have individual wooden booths with twinkly fairy lights, and if you go early, you can snag the booths with heat lamps. Staff wears masks, and you can pay for your order online. One of the safest setups I've seen. The a la carte bbq options are excellent, and I don't think I would have discovered this if it weren't for the pandemic. The quality of the a la carte bbq is actually better than the quality of the meat you get in AYCE (especially the galbi), and it's still a lot of food - definitely enough for 2 people. My favorite is the galbi, but we also enjoyed the fish and spicy pork. We've also tried the seafood pancake, bibimbap, and fries - all of which were crispy in the right ways, flavorful, and delicious. We did get AYCE once during pandemic, but I think from now on, we'll stick with a la carte. They've partnered with blind tiger, so it's a good place to get drinks too. Great food and great selection of AYCE. We got plenty of their appetizers and meats. We had to stuff down the last round the best thing here was their steak options. I believe it was their short steak that had an amazing flavor. The corn cheese deserves its own standing ovation here. It is served on a hot skillet with stretchy cheese, so good! The soft tofu soup has a seafood flavor with clams and flavorful soup! Eat it with the mountain of rice that they give you! It is amazing on its own. Let me tell you about the soju cocktail we got. Gogi time is my go to spot for Korean BBQ when I'm in Oakland and a great place to bring a group. They were understaffed this weekend but our server did a good job checking in on us to make sure our order came out correctly. Our meat order kept getting sent to the wrong table but things were fixed quickly and they comped us a pitcher of beer. Of course, we did all you can eat. The all you can eat menu is on the slightly pricier side but there are a lot of options. We ordered an array of meats and seafood. I think the spicy pork or bulgogi are my favorites. For appetizers we ordered tofu soup, corn cheese, fried gyoza and a kimchi pancake. I always like getting the purple wild rice and rice paper as sides. For drinks we had a pitcher of beer, soju and Sapporo. They're open for outdoor dining and they have portable grills set up now so you can have a true Korean BBQ experience. It was al la carte earlier during the pandemic. Would recommend a reservation, you can make one directly through Yelp. You could end up waiting a bit for a table especially on the weekend. Gogi Time used to be the spot if you wanted both AYCE hot pot and Korean BBQ, now they only offer either a la carte or AYCE KBBQ. There is a small parking lot in the back of the restaurant with security, so your car is more safe and secured unlike before when you either park in the small parking lot in front or park on the street and risk at broken window (there was always someone in my group that ended up with a broken window on each of our visits). They have a good variety of appetizers, soups/stews, rice/noodles, and other sides you may choose from if you want. I feel like they used to have more meat options. I did AYCE KBBQ because I thought I was more hungry, but honestly a la carte would had been better - I ended up filling up on the appetizers/soups/rice, etc. instead of the meats like I should had. We came here regularly before the pandemic. We returned for the first time today for outdoor dining. The outdoor experience is fun and well decorated. We enjoyed the atmosphere. From where we were sitting, it was a little tough to stay out of the direct sun, so we kept scooting around the booth. The food remains good and a good value for the price. Don't skip on the cheese dip - it's delicious. The service can be disappointing. For example, we ordered Cokes at the start of the meal. Halfway through the meal, a different server came by and we asked about them. After checking our order, she said "The Cokes you ordered... an hour ago?" We also never got an extra order of cheese dip we asked for. We did get a dish of garlic pork belly and a dish of sautéed eggs that we did not order. It took over 20 minutes to get our check, then over 15 to get my card back. Overall, I'd say it's a fun experience with tasty food. I'm so happy outdoor dining is opened again. Trying this place for the first time. Each table is properly sanitized and separated by makeshift walls and each party has their own heat lamp (this is where I got seated. Went around 1, not busy at all). Theres also a section with wooden picnic benches underneath tents, not as secluded. I went during lunch but they have string lights so I'm assuming lighting won't be a problem once it gets dark. They also have roofing so you'll be good when it rains. Might get a little wet since you're not fully protected like you would be dining inside. I'm not sure if they did hot pot and KBBQ pre-Covid but they're only offering KBBQ. They leave waters out on your table. Insulated cups but the water is room temp so if you like your water cold like me, I would ask for a cup of ice on the side. They have paper menus, they should get on those digital ones that you scan on your phone. They don't automatically serve banchan to your table so you need to order it. Banchan comes with kimchi, picked radish, bean sprouts, broccoli, and pickled cucumbers. Servers were wearing masks and gloves. Food came out quickly after ordering. Service was good except my waitress kept forgetting things. She didn't have a tablet or paper to write stuff down and was doing everything by memory so she would forget a few items. In terms of the meat, the brisket and pork cheek were cut thicker than I like it. Kalbi, garlic & spicy pork belly is a must. Lots of sides to choose from but my favorites were the kimchi pancake, cheesecorn, and soft tofu stew. Had a wonderful dinner tonight with 4 friends! Made reservations in advance and were seated right away. We all got the AYCE, and it didn't disappoint. The service was amazing, which is important with KBBQ. We all remarked at how quickly we went from first sitting down with no food/drinks to all of the sudden ALL the food and ALL the drinks. It was like a kings banquet! Servers checked in regularly to ask if we wanted more of everything & each one was super efficient & on top of it. The kimchi pancake was unbelievable. One person ordered it & the rest of us were kind of like "hmm, ok. You do you!" but when it arrived it was easily one of the best things on the table. It was so crispy with a juicy interior, it disappeared right away, which says a lot for a vegetarian dish when there were unlimited mountains of meat dishes to be had. I thought I knew what a kimchi pancake was but obviously I had never tried the real deal. The regular chicken (non-spicy) was also a dark-horse standout. It was seasoned really well & we were all surprised at how yummy it was. We had a delicious amazing experience! Will definitely come back. (Not sure if the owners look at these reviews, but the only improvement would be if there were maybe purse-hooks at the table. Lots of times these are installed under the table very close to the table's edge, to the side of each chair, for ladies to hang their purses at their knees so they don't have to put their purses on the floor, under the table, or hang them on the side of the chair. Very good quality of workers and food. It is an all you can eat place which you order off an iPad and eat all you want. The drinks are not free other than one sparking water. The one thing that I have a problem with is the prices. For kids above 10 it's $32 and kids 4-10 it's $22 then kids 0-4 it's free. I mean it is pretty expensive, but that is my only problem. Parking can be difficult to find. Park on the street if you can find any or if you're lucky, there's a few parking spots near the restaurant. I was highly disappointed in my experience here based on all the good reviews. Service was pretty decent considering that there was only 1 main server. Why are all the meat slices so thick? Everything from the brisket, belly, pork jowl.. and the quality of the meat was average. If you want dipping sauce, you're going to have to ask for it. We asked for sesame oil and brisket sauce that came in small togo containers. I did really like their corn cheese and my husband liked the tofu soup, however for kbbq, this place was just average. read more
