i've eaten goji many times growing up and it's very good. i had it recently so that i could write this review and i will say it is on the salty side for their chinese dishes. when ordering vermicelli bowls, get the regular ones not the combo. i find you get more meat and the three shrimps are not worth it to me. potstickers are always a go to but their crispy tofu starter s9 is always a hit. the seasoning on the outside is perfect and crispy and super good. they have great options for vegans especially the vegan spring rolls. they marinate the veggies so it keeps it interesting. i also really like their vegan pho, veggie clay pot rice, and almond chicken. i tried the five spice chicken and it is marinated and falls off the bone. service can be iffy especially on holidays. they also train a lot of new workers so sometimes it's not always consistent either. they do their best to accommodate customer's dietary restrictions and needs and have many gf options. they're doing their best and it's tough as small business owners. read more

This is one of my fiancés favorite Chinese food places. Unfortunately, I have a seafood allergy so have to be very careful. After matinee movie on our date night we dined at Goji Kitchen. WOW, it was amazingly great! Seated immediately in the back, away from drafty front door, and got our drinks right away as we cruised the variety menu. Our choices were all good: Shrimp & Pork Spring Roll, delicious Wor Wonton Soup, Swiss Chard with Fresh Shiitake Mushrooms and so good Mongolian Beef! Best Pho in Santa Rosa! The only complaint I have is that they are sometimes so busy with To-go orders that they turn down walk-ins. We had a party of 9 and they had tons of tables to sit us, but they had so many to-go orders that they told us they were closed for dine-in. I'm not a huge fan of Asian fusion, but this is a nice little restaurant on Mendocino ave. They have a very detailed menu that highlights many traditional dishes. Back for the first time in a long while. Food and service are still as excellent as always. Very very tasty. Less vegetarian than there used to be but plenty to make us happy. It's one of the few places I eat tofu because soy isn't that great for women. Theirs is organic and cooked so well I splurged on the lemongrass tofu. It was listed as "spicy lemongrass tofu" and wasn't spicy really so if you like it spicy just ask. It was delicious. My husband got fried rice and we shared. Fresh veg in the rice is nice. My son got a protein extravaganza of pork chops and crab cakes and rice and veg. He was in heaven and ate every bit. Good thing he's a bike commuter! If you're thinking of trying them GO! One of my go to places for Asian food here in Santa Rosa. I have been going to this place for years and enjoy the dine in experience. The staff are friendly and the service is good. Sometimes they get busy and are short staff so there will be wait time. I know some reviewers complain about their higher food cost but given the economic situation of high inflation, food prices is going to be higher. When the pandemic hit, I was concerned that the restaurant would close but kudos to them for hanging around and hopefully everyone supports their local businesses. read more

Asian Fusion. The word derives so many connotations in my mind that labeling a restaurant as such makes me annoyed right away. Why does an "Asian" eatery that tries to cater to Western palates get categorically labelled as "fusion." Why doesn't an Italian ristorante nor a French café nor German biergarten receive the same designation when it comes to labels. Well I guess because there's no "fusion" going on with those cultures I'm guessing (note sarcasm). Anyways, I digress so going back to my review of Goji Kitchen, regardless of what others may call this place I appreciate the authentic flavor that the kitchen provides--a little taste of the cuisine that a third of the world's population would be familiar with. Let's start with the space. Some may call it crowded, I call it intimate. There's no getting over the fact that your neighbors will be fairly close to you. But then again this is the kind of set-up that is seen all over Asia. Next the décor: simplistic, unpretentious, straightforward. Finally the food, in short, delicious. Started the meal with house made pot stickers that were so large I would consider them a dangerous weapon if I were to throw them at anyone that might try to steal some. The sweet and juicy meat filling were held together by the equally juicy outer shell that was slightly seared to lock in all the flavor. The crispy Chinese egg-rolls were generic, but scrumptious nonetheless. Now for the pièce de résistance the Pho Dac Biet--rib eye, brisket, flank steak, tendon, and tripe--marinating in a delicate broth that was both aromatic and inviting. Portion sizes here is certainly not an issue as after downing half of the bowl, I had enough leftovers to fill my belly the next day. To sum it all up, is this the most authentic Vietnamese, Chinese, or Asian restaurant that I've been to? Well no, not by a long-shot. Does it serve up delicious eats that will cater to Western and Eastern palates? I believe so. After getting off to a rough spot where the staff ordered my family meals from the dinner menu and pricing (thus charging me $10 more than I could comfortably afford and giving me more food than I knew what to do with) I was ready to give them a one star review. What made me angriest is that they seemed absolutely NOT motivated to make it right by adjusting the order before I got my food. What rubbed salt in the wound for me is that I'd already tipped generously on my credit card before getting the food and finding the error. Once I got home, however, and tasted the food, I was so pleased I couldn't give them less than 4 stars. The food itself, DEFINITELY worth 5 stars. The Sonoma Goat Cheese Spring Rolls are to die for. The rest of the food (we ordered Mongolian Beef and Sweet and Sour Chicken) were also very tasty. This is hands down the best Asian food I've had in several years, and definitely the best I've had outside Chinatown in SF or LA. The food is FLAVORFUL, not mushy or bland, but definitely not too spicy or too "hot". I can't say enough about how good the food actually is. We had been a regular customers for many years so it hurts me to give this review, but in true honesty we are very dissatisfied. We went in person to make an order at 5:30pm, huge wait line... (it didn't matter much as we know food tastes good). Were told to come back in 45min and food wasn't ready. Told us to come back in 30 more minutes, already bother here. Called back after the 30 minutes, no one answered, and just to be clear, since 5pm we had called several times and NO ONE ANSWERED THE PHONE! After a long 2hr wait the food was ready, and only to have it wrongly made. You can imagine how frustrating and mad we were at this point. We will not be coming back, nor referring anyone to this place. We will do the contrary. If they want to run a business that is based in TO GO ORDERS due to COVID, at least answer the damn phone!!! read more

Growing up in esj we would compare pho54 to tk as kids and then the competition started rolling in and I thought we were the place to eat til I tried organic Pho in Santa Frickin Rosa. Wow just wow. I also got Papaya salad with shrimp, a light appetizer with halves of shrimp laying on bomb papaya. Yes that's good papaya ya papa! We got really nice servers, they give great hot tea. They serve Pho and they have nice restrooms we're definitely not in Esj. This place is particularly gorgeous with fancy decor. Never been, ordered takeout one night for my family of 4, it was the best Chinese I've had in a long time ESPECIALLY in Santa Rosa. Everything was incredibly fresh, full of flavor, and most importantly not greasy at all! All their sauces (even the little sweet and sour cups) were made from scratch. This is probably my favorite place In Santa Rosa right now. I've been a regular since about 2012 and am so happy when i see Dennis! He's been there a long time and always smiles and is so friendly! The food is really delicious; super fresh and many organic items (check my facts, it might all be organic). I'm a vegan (but wasn't in 2012) so now order differently than I used to, but typically order tofu bun (I think item G6 or G7) or garlic eggplant. They have outside dining too and have created a nice space to dine despite being close to the parking lot-they really know how to create a nice experience. Never visited Santa Rosa until this evening and relied on Yelp for a trusty restaurant. Goji did the trick. We ordered the chicken/shrimp chow mein, cashew chicken, two different phò, and the claypot tofu. Right when we sat down, waters were immediately brought to our table followed by complimentary edamame. The meals came one by one and it would have been great if there were to arrive at the same time, but we didn't have to wait too long. The food tasted fresh. I esp liked the tofu.
