I will never eat here or order from here again. The delivery guy was over 30 minutes late from the timeframe I was given and he STOLE $2 as a tip. Let me explain how you steal a tip: Out of the 4 orders we had, only one person had cash. Her order was $9.63. I gave him a $20 and he said he only had $8 on me and when he came in he didn't have a pen. I was to sign all of the receipts from the cards I had and he was to go get me $2 more out of his van. The Security guy at our office had a pen, so it eliminated him having to go for that. I watched him take the receipts and tell me that he would return with the $2. Okay, my mouth is watering just thinking about Golden Chick. Every Thursday for about 2 years, I ate dinner here. I've curbed my intake since because the wife is a dietitian and I feel guilty dying early and leaving her with a life insurance payout and the chance to re-marry. The Food: The chicken *tenders* are battered and fried chicken strips. They're actually pretty tasty themselves. What makes them better? The Golden Chick gravy, of course. What makes that even better? The Golden Chick spicy spice - Lotta Zing. What would make that even better? Bacon, but alas, they don't offer that. The food here is terrific. Probably not terrific *for* you, but it tastes, oh so good. What do I get? 4 Spicy Tenders with okra and mac and cheese. If you walk in to get your to-go order, you can grab a self serve ice cream cone while you wait and you're not burning gas while doing it. The roll is tasty, particularly with a bunch of butter spread and honey. Again, my mouth is watering. If you have a bunch of hungry friends, look into the family packs. They'll feed a small army. The location: The staff here is on par, maybe even a little better than average. Never had a problem with any of them, except their stupid credit card machine. They have an annoying Golden Chick Egg dispenser that clucks periodically. Be aware that their take out boxes don't have a sealed bottom so crumbs and such will fall out if you're going to eat on the couch, in bed, or over a pressure sensitive bank vault floor. I'm a fan of this place, i've been going here on and off for the past 5 years. If your like me, and .. prefer chicken tenders to fried chicken that has bones in it (basically every other type of fried chicken/ thigh/leg/breast whatever).. then golden chick is a place to check out. They have these lil combo deals with differing amts of tenders, a roll, gravy, and (really subpar crappy, often old fries lol.. in my experiences). I usually throw like a small order of jalapeno poppers ( they do theirs like, lil bits of jalapeno smothered in cheese, in this crispie breaded layer over it.. pretty badass, its shaped like a rectangle too if i remember right) Usually runs me under 10$. Serious love for the Golden Chick Their chicken strips are decent... but what always brings me back? The yeast rolls. The french fries. The gravy. Seriously, for a place called Golden Chick, I could care less about their chicken! (don't get me wrong, it's good... but once I start eating the yeast rolls and fries dipped in gravy, I forget there's even chicken in the box) The biggest disappointment for Golden Chick fans is when a location has BISCUITS instead of the doughy yeasty goodness of ROLLS. I did a drive thru, so this is my drive thru experience. First off, this location is very tight and small area. I drive a sedan 4 door and my poor tires were hitting some curves and curbs because of it's curvy drive-tight drive thru. I got the #1 which comes choice of spicy or regular, 2 choice of sides, yeast roll and drink. It was pretty quick and efficient. I ate the yeast roll driving back to work, it had a little spice to it because it was sitting on top of the chicken so that added some kick to the roll, I liked that. I came back to the office, the fries were yummy! For a "small" bag, they loaded a lot of fries. They were crispy and good. I had 2 ranch drips which was great, and the chicken tenders where nicely cooked, juicy and big. All in all I'm pleased, the location/area/parking lot can be improved but the food is delicious and well cooked! :) read more

Never have I ever had fried chicken like this. I don't even LIKE fried chicken-- or at least, I didn't think I did after growing up with only Church's and Popeyes and Raising Cane's. Eat your heart out, competitors. Golden Chick is where it's at! I had never been before, so I asked the guy taking my order if the tenders or the fried chicken were more popular, and he immediately said the tenders. I got a junior combo with two tenders, a yeast roll, fries, drink, and gravy. The restaurant is shockingly clean (another advantage over Church's and Popeyes!) and has tons of choices for soda and tea. I got the apple soda and mixed in a small amount of raspberry lemonade... yummers! Ice cream is free with your meal. Service is fast and the employees are super friendly. The roll (which a sign said is "almost world-famous"-- I appreciate the modesty, GC!) was so good that I went back to the register and bought six more... and ended up eating them all within a day. The tenders were really small, but I was actually really full when I was done... so I ate for relatively cheap... score! The spicy chicken was awesome. I was texting my dad, a fried chicken fanatic in Houston, the whole meal telling him how delicious Golden Chick is. I'm already dreaming about going back, but I'm waiting it out as along as possible for my health's sake. I've come here several times for lunch during work. Only been inside once when they had the drive thru closed for some type of construction. There's usually a line in the drive thru, but it moves at a good pace. My food is always hot and fresh, and the roll is yummy. I usually don't like the way fountain drinks taste at fast food restaurants, but their Big Red soda is good. It's fast food, it is what it is. I haven't had any problems, so that's great. read more

We love golden chick and have them often. The catfish is my favorite. I usually go to a different location closer to work, but we went to this location the other day. The food we ordered was old, and dry. It had obviously been sitting out. We didn't even eat our whole meal. I was under the impression all golden chicks would cook the catfish fresh and made to order. Not at this place, it was terrible and the roasted chicken we ordered was really dry and hard. There are salad days and there are golden chick days. I had a golden chick day. Driving thru their old drive thru system where you can hardly hear what they are saying. I saw a 6 dollar deal which is 3 chicken tenders one side, drink and a yeast roll. Sounds like a lot of food but it was a snack for me. Literally enhaled everything within 15 minutes! I am a serious lover of fried chicken and Golden Chick is my go-to spot. The caveat with this though is that only this Golden Chick location offers the *best* Golden Chick food in Dallas (in my humble opinion). I discovered it when I was 7 years old after my mom brought home a box of its deliciousness from work and have been eating it ever since. If her boss had never treated them to this place, I probably would not have discovered it until later on in my life so at this time, I thank you, Dr. Chu, for making this happen. Anyway! We were so excited that they were serving Fletchers Corny Dogs since the State Fair won't open. My husband drove thru and bought 4 for a cost of $20. Golden Chick is one of the better fried chicken chains. But THIS Golden Chick is one of the best! Tasty chicken, whether pieces or strips. Good sides, especially the fried okra. The corn on the cob has always been fresh and not overcooked. Pass on the mashed potatoes. They are better than most, being closer to homemade than other chicken joints, but that isn't saying much given how institutional masked potatoes are at the other chicken restaurants. The rolls are very good. And I stop buy to get drinks just because they have that wonderful flaked ice, fresh tea, and big cups. The restaurant has recently been remodeled, so it's a nicer place to sit and eat. The main reason I like this location is the service. When I requested delivery she told me it would be at least an hour because they didn't have a delivery driver on the schedule for the day & she'd have to find someone. We went to get some golden chick, got 25 tenders and 3 sides. We got mash potatoes and gravy, both of them were almost non edible. The gravy looked like it was watered down and just tastes like gravy flavored water and the mash potatoes was basically just powder. The only thing that was good was the tenders. A truly bizarre parking lot and entrance, but there is a good product waiting for you inside. I'm not sure if the builder spilled something on the blueprint when they built this place, or if it's a re-purposed building, but once you park and get inside you're in for a treat. I chose the four tender meal spicy and a side of dirty rice, the meal also came with a yeast roll. It was plenty of food for me and under $8.00. The chicken was crispy and the spicy seasoning was perfect. The inside remained piping hot and juicy. The dirty rice was a nice side and it was a good change of pace from the usual mac and cheese or mashed potatoes. If you are still hungry after your chicken meal you can crush some free soft serve, always a nice perk. read more

Love the flavor and crunchiness of the chicken and the buttermilk biscuit is to die for too. Since we came home from a short vaca and no food at home, closest chicken joint to home is Golden Chick. Heard and read great reviews plus delicious rolls, family went there for a try. Well..... Rolls were sooo soft and great especially dipping it into the gravy. Chicken tenders and wings were great too. Since this is our first time here, Golden Chick put dried seasoning on the spicy chicken. Since we cut back on salt content in our food, many eating out food is salty. Next time, we will request the dried seasoning on the side and dip it when needed. Rice wasn't bad,but the consistency is what you'd expect at a fast food restaurant. Rolls were good and sweet tea was average. Not a bad place for a quick inexpensive bite. Bruh...I love chicken strips. Absolutely love them. And by God, does Golden Chick rule the roost. I plan on reviewing other places I've been to, but I want to get the best out of the way because I'm here to help you. Why would I want you wasting your money on another place when you can go to the Shang-Ri-La of chicken. Don't ask me about rotisserie chicken, or their sandwiches or catfish filets. Sorry dog. Just ain't in the cards. First, the place is clean. I've been to a lot of Golden Chicks but this is by far the cleanest location. Tables are always wiped down, countertops are wiped down, and the trash cans usually always have enough room to slide your trash in. It isn't that annoying crap where you open the little chute door and you have to cram your refuse in. Nah man, they empty it regularly. Second, the service. It's spot on. Attentive, orderly, quick. When your number is called, they don't mumble and you have to guess if they called you or not. You hear the hell out of your number. Third, the chicken. I've had tons of other chicken strip choices and Golden Chick is the best. They have different number count options (I prefer the 6 piece). Decent sized strips, not too skinny and chincy...not too fat. The breading is always crisp. Doesn't get soggy and doesn't just peel off. It stays attached to the strip so you know they took time to develop their breading recipe. The thing that sets them apart is the spicy version. Son...if you haven't had their LottaZing seasoning, you're missing out. It isn't hot to where it takes your breath but it has a decent heat to it. And they liberally apply it. There's no cheap skate application of this either. You want it spicy? BAM!! Your chicken strip is covered now. Oh, congratulations dog. If you like the LottaZing you can buy a plastic container to take home and season with. I mix some with the gravy to dip fries and the chicken strips in. My personal favorite though is to get the spicy strips and drizzle some honey on them. Lots of places have good chicken strips...but GC's strips are well breaded, well cooked/fresh, come in different number combinations and also have a spicy version. That's a superfecta to all you horse racing fans. Fourth, their drink station. Ok. Yeah yeah yeah, blah blah blah. Nothing too extravagant. It isn't one of those fancy-shmancy drink machines with the touch screen display where you have 100s of different flavor combinations. But they have Big Red on tap (how often do you see that?) and their ice is the really awesome small chip-like ice cubes like what you get at Sonic. The only drawback is their sweet tea, is SUPER sweet. It's like cocaine and you need to cut it with some unsweet tea to avoid becoming hypoglycemic. They also have a soft serve machine where you can get a small cone of vanilla ice cream to go. I'm a renaissance guy so little ice cream cones, take me back man. It's a great touch to a good meal and they're complimentary. Lemme tell ya brother, you want awesome chicken strips? Go to Golden Chick. You want the BEST Golden Chick experience? Fried chicken liver is a heart stopper, but it's pretty good. There's a hidden menu. Just ask the workers and they will help you out. Be prepare for some ghetto-ness. The cook lady that was working the night I went to Golden Chick was mean and impatient. She used the intercom to yell at the customer that was standing in front of her. Don't expect the best service there. Another funny story... make sure you get the "free" ice cream with a cone. If its in a cup, then the workers might charge you $0.58 for the "free" ice cream. LOL!
