It was by pure chance that I discovered this Golden Corral, a place I've visited many times before, while driving through Orland Park. Although one of the dining sections was closed, it didn't detract from our experience. We ended up seated a bit too close to the dessert bar for my own good, but I'll move past that! I been told that this place was a place avoid. Broke down and gave a try the other day. This location is definitely different than the others. I definitely prefer to come here when it first opens so you get the freshest pick of food. I don't know what this salad is with the raisins and broccoli but it is sooooo good! I wasn't a dame of the bbq baked chicken, the sauce seemed a little off to me. Great service from Laila!!!! We see her all the time and she is such a sweet lady who checks on us often! It's much quieter in the morning hours on the weekday but it can get pretty loud in here with larger crowds. Otherwise it's what you would expect at a buffet. First, my whole experience was bad. once I started to eat my first plate I found a rubber like substance in my mashed potatoes. I always loved going to Golden Corral as a kid and being able to walk around and get whatever I wanted. But as you grow up and realize that the food is mediocre at best but the time is always a blast. I'd say Golden Corral is for a place to have a good time over good food. If I could give 0 stars, I absolutely would. Decided to try the breakfast since I've heard so many things, from good to bad. Also to mention upon entering for brunch, make sure you specify you'd like soda because god forbid you don't, and you'll get your drink snatched up from the table. Instead of their juice options, which they don't have many, I decided to go with a coke, mind you, they use coke products from their Minute Maid juices to lemonade. I sat down unbeknownst to me, I wasn't allowed to grab soda in a clear cup, when the waiter seen it, she had a heart attack. Very rude, she asked if she can remove my drink, and I was a little confused? I had already drank half, and didn't understand why she wanted to take my drink just to dump it? She snatched my drink and dumped it right in front of me, and proceeded to bring me a new cup, offered to put some juice but I had already a bad taste in my mouth from the nasty encounter. She made the whole table turn their heads, instead of telling me politely, or asking if I wanted to just pay the difference? I had lost my appetite and stood quiet, embarrassed. So because it was a huge deal for soda, I quietly got up and served myself juice, I didn't see the difference in what I wanted, but ok. I guess at 11 they shut the drink station off, so now what? I was given the nastiest attitude from the waited, you can get water? What's the problem? My problem is how rude and nasty you have to be about it, I can understand a miscommunication and being friendly about it, but now guess what? NOW I'm not leaving a tip, and I'll never come back to this specific location period. Manager was as nasty as the waiter. Mind you I wasn't even finished with my juice and she took my cup. Very unprofessional and mean, I don't get what type of training they go through, or how much money gets taken out of her check for a glass of soda, and mind you I wasn't planning on refilling my cup. Lunch is $9.99 a person with no drink included. They have a great selection of food and it's not very busy during the weekday. I really enjoyed the pulled pork, it was absolutely delicious, and I never eat pork. They have food for all cultures. They have American, Mexican, Chinese and even vegetarian. The dessert bar has a great assortment. My favorite dessert is probably the sugar free strawberry vanilla cake or the 14 K gold carrot cake. Tip---Lunch time is the best time to go. This was my first time coming to this Golden Corral, and my experience was relatively poor. Once I walked in, the cashier had such a terrible attitude! If you're gonna have someone working in the cashier, they should at least smile. The food selection was just "alright" but it was really messy. I don't think I've ever eaten more food in a single meal than I did here. I ate a slice of pizza, a piece of chicken, some meatloaf, mostaccioli, mashed potatoes, fries, macaroni & cheese, etc. All of it was good, except for one piece of meatloaf a bit overcooked on the bottom. Every time I went back, I found new things on the buffet that I missed on the previous trips. I was there for lunch and for only about an hour; 6 hours later, I'm still full. They also have people come around to the table to clear plates and refill drinks. They were removing plates almost as fast as I could clear them. The women were nice enough to always ask before taking a plate. They also had my water refilled before it ran out. The only reason it's not five stars is because they had employees going around yelling at everyone that was walking around about masks. I understand it's the governor's order, but enforcing the order is quite silly when the masks have to be taken off to eat, so most people didn't have them on while sitting. read more
