My girlfriend and I had just had a very hectic and sad day laying our canine companion to rest after fourteen and a half years . We hadn't eaten and needed something to fill our tummies and hopefully lighten our spirits. We actually drove several miles to get to this restaurant because their website made it look very comfortable and appetizing. We were wrong, dead wrong. The orange peel chicken was a little tiny piece of chicken with so much breading on it you had a hard time finding the meat. The war wonton soup had very little flavor, and looked like something that was ladled out of the bottom of their dishwasher. There were absolutely no condiments on the table, salt, pepper, soy sauce, or any other condiments you might expect in what is billed as an upscale Chinese restaurant. The yummiest Chinese food! I stopped by on a whim last night. The outside looked super sketch and dingy but it was really nice and authentic inside. The staff might have been all family - so so so nice. There was an older lady that walked around and talked to every single table which I love. The food was amazing! We've eaten here twice with family friends. Both times were excellent. I've had to go gluten-free recently. They went above and beyond to modify 2 dishes that weren't gluten-free. They made the Mandarin Hot Beef without the soy (my favorite dish). We never even knew it was gone. The Aromatic Shimp was made without the breading (so yummy). This must be the friendliest service I've experienced! Everyone treats you like family, even from the moment they greet you when you first walk in. When the hostess led us to our booth, I saw her check in with other customers, and it was obvious that many people there were regulars. The dinner for one combo is a reasonable price, and the egg rice reminds me of my mom's, which is a bonus for me. I love it when I get the home-cooked meal feel. The egg rolls were really big and a bit too oily for me, but everything else was great. I enjoyed my Mongolian beef. I also tried my boyfriend's shrimp in lobster sauce, which was good too. This is our go to Chinese restaurant! It's a little far from where I live but it's worth the drive. We always get the orange chicken and honey walnut shrimp. It does not disappoint. The sizzling rise soup is also delicious. When I come with a bigger group we add on egg rolls and friend rice. This is a small family business and mom is always there to hug and great you. The restaurant is decorated very nicely and it seems they have some regulars who frequent the restaurant, but unfortunately I will not be one of them. My partner ordered the broccoli beef and I ordered the chicken chu mein. We both got the dinner combos which comes with wontons, wonton soup, an eggroll, and rice. I'm not sure how to explain this, but all of the aforementioned items tasted stale and dirty. The meat in our dinners were undercooked and uncomfortably soft so we sent it back. The food is mediocre at best, however I want to share with the patrons of the restaurant and potential patrons what I observed. One of the employees was getting napkins and silverware ready for the following day. He dropped a spoon on his shoe which ended up on the floor and proceeded to pick it up and put it back with the other spoons instead of taking it back to the kitchen. I don't even know where to start. The mama of this place is so kind! So sweet! So effectionate, and she makes sure you get great service. I saw her greet ALL her costumers. The dining room is huge! And there is a bar off to the side with ample bar top seating n more tables. All the staff are in black n white with aprons. The food, drinks, and clean moves fast! The egg rolls, my husband said tasted like they were old and fried in bad oil. The ribs were doused in bbq sauce to compensate for how dry they were. Overall the food was just not good. The ambiance was very relaxed and seems like they had a lot of regulars. Definitely the older crowd. The service was great but I would have liked for them to at least discounted our bill when it was obvious that we didn't like the food. Most of our plates were practically full. Bad Yelper! No photos! We had a 90th birthday celebration here and it was a huge success. Can't thank the manager, John, enough. We communicated via email and phone calls but I didn't meet him in person until the day of our party. What a nice guy! And fun and accommodating and easy to work with! Good service too. All we had to do was ask and they brought it. Everyone enjoyed the food. We brought in our own bubbly and wine and were charged $12 service fee for each bottle. Not bad. The restaurant doesn't have much curb appeal and inside is the basic Chinese restaurant look but the banquet room worked out great for us. Perfect size for us. We had a great party! We held my mom's 90th birthday party today at Golden Dragon's banquet room. It all worked out really well for us! The banquet room seats up to 80. There were about 65 in our party, which seemed like the perfect number for the room. We had some room to maneuver around, had a small dessert and party favor table, and had some space for my sister to perform a hula dance. We had dined here two times before to taste and select the dishes that we served. We were very pleased with the family style meal of several entries. We were worried about having enough time to set up--our party started at 11:30 and the staff doesn't arrive until 11! However, the manager was nice enough to arrive early. They got everything set up and the room looked pretty good. There were a few unsightly items laying around near the back of the room and hidden behind screens, which would have been nice if they were stored elsewhere, but not a big deal. The staff and service was very good. High praises to the manager, John (I think) for going out his way to be nice and accommodating! To be honest, the first time we visited Golden Dragon I was not impressed. The outside is not much to see, and it was hard to visualize having a nice event in the banquet room. Today was my first visit at Golden Dragon I really wanted to like Golden Dragon I read the reviews before arriving and for the most part they were good. As soon as we walked in we were greeted very nice and seated immediately it was not busy just 1 other table party. The server was on top of making sure we had all that we needed we ordered the crab cheese which was super delicious and 2 combination one with orange chicken and the other with chicken loe mein both came with soup. I was really enjoying my soup until I saw a bug in it then I just pushed it to the side I did not want to complain. Than our main dish came out and I ask for soy sauce and poured some on my fried rice and a bug came out of onto my rice, switch spoiled my appetite. I couldn't finish my food knowing that it was the second bug I ran into. I couldn't come back to Golden Dragon without thinking about the bugs. So I had a pick up order from here.. had never tried it before.. I ordered the egg drop soup which literally had no flavor at all. Bummed to say the least.. I also ordered what is pictured... This shrimp tasted like it was reheated for sure. It was the honey walnut shrimp but it just was horrible. I literally had to throw it away. Such a waste.. I spent a lot of money here by the way..
