I been in and out to Reno many times. And I'm telling you guys. This place is the best vietnamese restaurant in Reno I ever had. We order most of the specialties that the restaurant can offer that include the drinks. I even analyzed the food itself. The calamari they score it and fried which is great technique. Sauces good also. Pho not oily and it's have refine clear broth. Fried rice both duck and yang chow rice are amazing. I highly recommended the place. We got to the restaurant around 6:30PM, and it was completely empty, which was kind of surprising. The owner is the son of the guy who ran Golden Flower, his dad, and back in the day that place was a hit in Downtown Reno, but now that his son has opened this new restaurant, the food just doesn't live up to the same standards. We ordered bánh xèo, mì bò kho, bún bò Huế, nước mía, and gỏi cuốn, and unfortunately, the bún bò Huế and bò kho were really bland, with almost no flavor, and the colors didn't look like traditional Vietnamese food either. The gỏi cuốn was disappointing as well, tasting like it had been made ahead and stored in the fridge, with rice paper that was really hard to eat. I wanted to get nem nướng, but they didn't have it, which made their menu feel kind of limited. The nước mía was also a letdown, definitely not fresh, because I saw the server pour it straight from a bottle, so it was clearly pre-made or from a supplier rather than freshly pressed. The bún bò Huế had a thick layer of unskimmed fat, which made it really greasy, and the service wasn't great either, even though the restaurant was empty. The server forgot our hot water and the nước mía, so I had to remind them, and on top of that, another staff member came over and asked, "Do you need anything else?" in Vietnamese, but the way she said it made it feel like she just wanted us to leave, even though the restaurant wasn't busy and she wasn't our server, which was a little annoying. The only thing that was really good was the bánh xèo, which was crispy, not too oily, and had the filling just right. The restaurant itself looks nice and modern, so they get points for the atmosphere, but compared to Golden Flower back when his dad ran it and it was loved and popular in Downtown Reno, this new spot just doesn't compare. The food and service both fell short, and I don't think I'll be coming back. Vietnamese: Anh ghé quán khoảng 6:30PM mà trống không à, không một bóng người luôn, thấy cũng hơi lạ. Chủ quán là con trai của người trước đây làm Golden Flower, ba của chủ quán, hồi xưa quán đó nổi tiếng lắm ở Downtown Reno. Nhưng giờ con trai mở quán mới này thì tiếc quá, ăn không được ngon như thời ba quán đâu. Anh gọi bánh xèo, mì bò kho, bún bò Huế, nước mía, với gỏi cuốn. Nói thiệt, bún bò Huế với bò kho nhạt lè nhạt lét, hầu như không có mùi vị gì cả. Màu sắc món ăn cũng không giống kiểu truyền thống của người Việt mình. Gỏi cuốn thì cũng thất vọng. Nhìn và ăn kiểu như đã được làm sẵn rồi để tủ lạnh, bánh tráng cứng, ăn rất khó. Anh muốn gọi nem nướng mà quán không có, thấy hạn chế quá. Nước mía thì càng thất vọng hơn. Không tươi tẹo nào. Anh thấy rõ ràng em rót từ chai ra ly, chắc chắn là nước mua sẵn hoặc pha sẵn chứ không phải ép tại chỗ. Bún bò Huế còn có lớp mỡ dày không hớt, ăn ngán muốn xỉu luôn. Dịch vụ cũng không ổn, dù quán vắng. Em quên mang nước nóng với nước mía, Anh phải nhắc lại mới đem ra. Có một em nhân viên khác hỏi anh "cả gia đình cần gì nữa hông?" nhưng nói kiểu như muốn chúng tôi về. Quán không đông, không phải server chính, mà cách hỏi khiến anh thấy hơi khó chịu, kiểu như em ấy bực mình chúng tôi vẫn còn ngồi ở đó. Chỉ có bánh xèo là ngon, giòn rụm, không quá dầu, nhân vừa đủ ăn. Quán thì trang trí đẹp, hiện đại, đó là điểm cộng. Nhưng so với thời Golden Flower còn do ba của chủ quán làm, khi mà quán được nhiều người thương và nổi tiếng ở Downtown Reno, thì quán mới này của con trai không thể nào so được. This place is unreal. I pulled up and my boyfriend and I immediately thought "Wow this place looks nice" without even being inside yet. We got inside and were immediately greeted by two sweet women at the front and got told to sit wherever we'd like. Once we sat down, the two women brought us water with straws!! Recently I've had to ask for straws everywhere I go so just that small detail was enough to leave a good impression on me. There was no music blasting in my ears, the lights weren't bright fluorescent white and there was yu-gi-oh playing on the TV. A server came to get our appetizer order and the food came out so quick. The food was so good that I expected the prices to be higher, but the total came out to about $50 for two entrees, an appetizer, a bahn mi, and a boba. This used to be a Pho 999. This is a totally new restaurant. They have a special menu every day with a lot of unique options which are extremely flavorful. The food was excellent. Some of the best Vietnamese food I've ever had in my life. The service was also extremely good. Huge portions of fresh vegetables, which was one of my favorite parts. Lots of mint and fresh lettuce. All of the meats were very lean. The sauces were extremely flavorful with many options. Bbq chicken Bahn mi and bbq pork were excellent. Portions were good and so were the prices. This may be our new favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Reno. Can't wait to go back and try some other other options. read more

I had decided to stop by for my first time and I say this, the broth was a little light, what I mean is that the broth wasn't dark enough, the bowls were huge and food was great, but the broth once you start adding your condiments the broth flavor goes away and it starts to water down. I had have some good pho in the city where you add the condiments and the broth you can still taste along with the condiment. The service was amazing and atmosphere was clam and relaxing. BBQ meat was so salty could hardly eat so they gave me a soda really **never offered me something else . i will try one more time. Staff brought me lots of water for the salty food , egg rolls way over cooked would not recommend or just back off on the salt. read more

This new restaurant has amazing Vietnamese and Chinese food. The owners previously owned the Golden Flower, back in the day when there was always a wait because of the great menu and food. Golden Dragon is clean, the service is attentive, and food is authentic. We had the seafood noodle soup (I requested the egg noodle and they happily obliged) and the pot stickers. The soup was the most flavorful I have ever had and the pot stickers was delicious, not greasy. You can find Long, the owner, cooking in this wonderful restaurant. Our party of 4 ordered pho, all of us were disappointed. The broth had little to no flavour. The pho lacked in meat portions and veggies. The noodles were quite good, the server was outstanding. There were a couple of kids running through the cafe, loud, playing noisy foosball and arcade game, this went on through our entire meal. Location is sketchy, had to sniff horrible permanent hair solution from the salon next door as we ate. Atmosphere lacking. Prices average, but no value for what we received. Visited Reno and found this hidden gem. The Pho broth was so good and the bowl was savory and flavorful. The chicken BahMi was traditionally made and so so good. Waiter was very nice to us and attentive. The inside of the restaurant is very clean, spacious, and well decorated. There is plenty of space and can hold large parties.
