I have been trying to figure out what was wrong with my car for the past 5 years (taken it to multiple auto shops including the dealership) with no such luck as to the problem. A seperate issue happens recently and my husband stopped by this shop. He did a free diagnostic (check engine light) and was able to pin point the newest problem as well as the problem I have had with it for the past 5 years. I was having issues with my brakes and decided to take my truck here, and boy I am glad I did. Rob told me he would check out what the issue was, free of charge. I had already done my homework about the issue on google, but was in town visiting and did not have my tools to check it out myself. Rob got me in as soon as I got there, even though their was other cars on the lifts, to give me a free estimate. I ended up having rust on my routers which was causing the smell. On our way back from Tahoe with my family, my 2004 Suburban started shaking violently. We got off the freeway, and stopped at Golden Eagle Automotive. Within a few minutes, mechanic Pedro was lifting the car, checking wheel bearings and then taking a test drive to try to diagnose the problem. It was quickly identified as a partially separated tire, and Pedro offered to install our spare tire on the spot. Since all the tires were the same age and milage, I was interested in getting new tires instead. Owner Rob told us they didn't sell tires at his shop, but if we wanted, he could call around a and locate a set that would fit my truck. Within minutes, he found a nearby vendor who not only had tires in stock, but would install them immediately. He even haggled with the tire shop to get the best price for us. When he was done, Rob would not accept any payment for the help and service provided. This is a shop I would patronize regularly if I lived in the area. She told them what she thought was wrong and they could have taken advantage of her and they didn't! I would not recommend. I took my well maintained Toyota in since the check engine light was illuminated, and minutes after having the code pulled the tech let me know that I would need a new air fuel ratio sensor that would run me $460 for the part. When I asked about labor cost he said don't worry it's just the part I'd be charged for. I did a little homework and called another shop as well as Roseville Toyota to get a quote on that specific part. Roseville Toyota said they sell the part for $190. I called this shop back to let them know the massive price difference and immediately they said "I was just going to call you back- we misquoted you! It will be $274.99 for the part plus labor." Hmm. Now labor charge is important. I said go ahead with the repair. 4 hours later I receive a call saying that the censor cannot be removed so I need to replace the whole area, which will take 9 hours of labor at $85 per hour plus part costs as well. We're looking at $1200+ total. I said forget it I'm coming to pick up the vehicle and ill take it to a shop that's further from home but that I trust. Upon picking up the car no more than 15 minutes went by when my engine started making loud noises and the car was shaking as I was driving it. When I pushed on the gas and the engine roared but the car barely moved forward, I knew something had been messed with under the hood or not everything was put back properly. At that point I had to have my car towed to the shop I trust way out on Roseville Rd. I will be never return to Golden Eagle Auto, despite my love of my hometown and everything golden eagle. read more

Rob was concerned about my safety when I didn't have the $838 until payday next week, and took a post dated check, risking the effort of collecting on a mechanics lien if my check wasn't any good. Don't do it!!! Took our Jeep in for a coolant leak. Was told it was the radiator...after $400+ to replace it it was still leaking. Took it back and they told us it was the water pump. This all seemed a bit shady so we took it someplace else to have the water pump replaced which they did. it still leaked occasionally so now months later we took it in again and was told it was the radiator that was bad. BAD EXPERIENCE to be sure! wish I could give less than one star because I'm livid right now! read more

Huge head ache. I have learned my lesson. I will never go back to them. I am not one to ever write a bad review but I had to go back there 4 times after the original time I got my brakes looked at. I paid over $300 to get the front rotors and pads "fixed" and now I have to go somewhere else because honestly, after the 4th time, I finally realized I don't think they know what they're doing. I'm sure they are great at other things, but I would NOT take your vehicle there if it has to do with brakes. My fiance and I had just started a cross-country move from CA to DC for his new job. About 3 hours into driving, a metal rod kicked up from the freeway and drove itself into my car! Some sort of green liquid was leaking. We were panicked and definitely didn't need this expense. We found Golden Eagle, and explained our situation and how we couldn't afford any non-essential repairs but wanted to make sure the car was safe to drive cross country. Golden Eagle checked my car thoroughly (they even took off the front plating to confirm that no vital systems were damaged). They explained how the liquid was freon and only my AC was damaged by the metal rod and quoted us a price to fix it. A typical mechanic might have lied and said an essential system was damaged, but not these guys. They were honest and really good at communicating with us despite our lack of auto expertise. Since we couldn't afford to fix it but wanted to thank them for their amazing attitude and understanding, we got an oil change. But here's the kicker! Despite the time and labor that went into checking my car, they waved our money away and said the diagnostic AND oil change were all free of charge. I seriously could not believe it! I thought friendly, honest, (and generous) mechanics were only a myth, but Golden Eagle has proven me wrong. When I do get my AC fixed, I know where to come. read more

I've been taking both my 2010 Toyota Yaris and 1992 Toyota Pickup to these guys for a few years now. It is always a pleasure to work with them. The first time I went, my pickup was running too high, and making a strange sound when driving. I had taken it to two other mechanics in SF both who charged, but neither really fixed it. Rab opened the hood and worked on it a bit, managed to fix it. It's never had that problem since. And he didn't charge me. Since then I take the truck back to him. We do what is necessary and he lets me know when it's not, or something can wait. I never feel he is out to make a buck, just a good customer. And the little truck just keeps running better and better. I always take both cars for oil change and maintenance. Recommended by a co- worker. First time I've used a shop outside of dealership. Rob and his crew are awesome. Took my GMC Sierra there for some general maintenance as well as all major fluid exchanges. Everything was done correctly and timely. Rob was super friendly and honest in that he only charged me what it cost him plus labor, rather than a set price dealerships charge. In the end Rob saved me @ $300. Also, a few weeks later my headlamp went out. Dealership quoted me $149 parts and labor per headlamp ($300 total) as I wanted to swap out both sides. Per dealer access to bulbs for 2012 Sierra requires removing front bumper! Sensing bullshit, I found the H11 bulb needed at auto parts store for $20 each. I stopped by and Rob showed me a work around. Took him about 20-30 min and both bulbs were replaced. He charged me nothing! Super honest and helpful. Highly recommend this shop. read more

We were driving down I-80 when our power steering went out around five o'clock on a Saturday afternoon. We limped into Loomis not expecting anyone to be open, let alone able to fix our car. We ended up at Golden Eagle, who were open late because they were extra busy that day. Owner Rob Koya and all of his staff were very friendly and helpful and went the extra mile to try to get us back on the road, calling multiple places to locate parts. It turns out that nobody had the parts we needed at that time of day, so we were forced to rent a car. Unfortunately, all the local agencies were closed. Rob had one of his colleagues drive us all the way to Sacramento airport at no charge! Throughout the process, Golden Eagle gave us accurate and detailed estimates of the cost of the repairs. We were so impressed we had them do some scheduled maintenance on the vehicle while they were under the hood, for far less than the dealer was going to charge us.
