I remember bookmarking Golden Gate Pho, but for some reason never got the chance to go. In the area my wife recommended to try this place out. Inside was really nice and clean. We ordered beef pho for take out: 2 small rare steak and brisket 1 small rare steak and tendon For a small bowl, it was pretty big and lots of portion. Just enough to get your belly full. On our hunt for the best spring rolls we made it here right before closing and they didn't even rush us out. So happy we got our own spring rolls because these were some of the best rolls I've had. I think it's the grilled pork with the shrimp that elevates this one to another level. I also got the grilled pork Bahn Mi which was good also but I could've just eaten another order of rolls. My bf ordered the chicken combo plate and added an extra fried egg. He was very happy with his choice and he's already gone back again since. Service was great. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. I'm really upset about our pick up order experience. My partner and I finally found a decent pho spot around our home but when we came to pick up it up the cashier said "sorry my coworker accidentally gave your order to someone else but they will be back to drop it off" when the person came back they took our order to the back and immediately brought it back out. We thought maybe they would offer to remake it but instead they gave us the same order someone had already taken. It was just unprofessional and it made us feel uncomfortable with no real manager explaining the situation. As someone in the restaurant industry it is unsanitary and unsafe to give customers food that was already given to a different customer. read more

We were promtly seated, got our usual orders, (pho, spring rolls) and it was on our table fairly quickly as well. For a party of four, it was my first time to break the $100 mark for pho. And I am not even at the infamous PhoZilla of San Mateo. Thier pho is legitimately on the pricy side. The broth wasn't 'fiery hot' or 'chilling cold'. But rather, luke warm at best. Tried this place for the first time recently and it was OK. I ordered via phone and had a nice gentleman take my order which was ready for pickup in 15 min. I ordered the shredded chicken pho and an order of egg rolls and the total came out to $25. The pho broth was OK, I'd give it a 7/10 and the egg roll order was pricey considering only 4 little pieces came with it. I would give them a 6/10 since the flavor wasn't all there. I think it's a bit pricey for what you get -- a mid meal for a rainy day. read more

I love this place. My family and I have eaten here many times. It's honestly one of my very favorite local pho joints. They have never failed to provide prompt and friendly service. Just thought I should leave a review. I do want to start this off by saying I've been coming here for some time now and never had this happen. Today I ordered a shrimp pho to-go. Once I got home and boiled my broth I added it to my bowl. Added my sauces and started eating as usual. I gave my bowl a good stir and out of the corner of my eye I se something black pop up in my bowl. I turned on my light and it was a dead fly in my food! It couldn't have been from my house because the bowl was sealed and it wasn't in the broth because I boiled it and I clearly saw the broth. I believe it was in the bottom of the bowl they gave me. I've called the restaurant but no answer. Word of advice check your bowl before you eat. read more

We haven't stopped in here for sometime. I'm actually disappointed the broth has gone back to the oily consistency it had when they first opened. To note just how oily it was I added ice to the broth, alone. Most edible items were removed from the bowl. The only explanation is the use of the cheapest cuts of bone. This should not be the consistency of a bone broth. Even so, with the use of a less quality cut of bone, skimming during the boil process can remove most of this. All other food items ordered, we have not had any issues with as far as flavor. May be what we have to stick to from now on. One positive side is of all the visits the Service is always quick and professional. But the Pho broth is just not the best. And we'll with it being a Pho restaurant you really have to up that game to being the best. read more

I really like this spot. I have tried the combo pho and the short rib combo, very good so far, especially the combo pho. the goi cuon is good too. There is plenty of parking but they do close for for their break time. The prices are reasonable as well. we've been coming here in Oakley vs eating in brentwood for our Vietnamese fix. The place is clean and spacious and customer service is great. Employees are attentive and they refill your water. The pad thai and chow fun was very sweet. I didn't like the condiments that came with the pad thai because they had an unwashed or stale water smell. I could taste it so I did not mix the vegetables into the pad thai. The pad thai didn't come with peanuts and I was I given the option if I wanted to have peanut sprinkle on top. The display in the presentation of the food is excellent. The chow fun noodles had a good texture but the sweet dark sauce overwhelmed me. Parking was easy and the restaurant had a clean feel to it. read more

The Pho here had a really good broth and large portions, but was mostly just broth noodles, and a thin slices of meat. We also got the Golden Gate fried rice combination with steak, shrimp, and chicken. It was very bland with no eggs and a little bit of onion. There was a lot of it so we took it home, added eggs, veggies, garlic, and onions. Some of the rice was hard and stuck together too. There were only 2 pieces of shrimp and hardly any other meat. It was almost $20 too! We would only go back for the Pho, but most likely won't go back at all. Maybe the grilled meat dishes are better??? The service was really good though. read more

Coming from San Jose where pho restaurants are dime a dozen looking for a for restaurant proved to be a challenge in this area. That is until we discovered gold pho which was. A pleasant surprise they were very busy because it was Christmas Eve, but they seated us right away and welcome us with warm smiles. Golden gate Pho is hopefully here to stay. They definitely massively improved the space from what it was several years back as a Chinese/Japanese restaurant. The food comes out so quick and I have yet to have one thing wrong on my order. Staff is super nice and doesn't miss a beat. But the food, the food, is super delicious. My go-to is something I try to recreate from the Pig and the Lady in Oahu's China town. Beef ban-mi dipped in ribeye pho. It's like a Vietnamese French dip. Try it, it's Phonomenal. It gets you close as you're gonna get in Oakley. Now if I could get something close to their Laotian Fried Chicken Wings i would be a very happy man. read more

To our surprised this is what we got for almost $7 I get it's a business but c'mon you can accommodate our request? If they are cheap with this what other food items are they being cheap with?
