The food is amazing! My wife and I were recommended by a friend, but hesitant about doing so once we saw the reviews. We decided to give it a shot, and I'm glad we did. Save your time and money. My advice is to find somewhere else to get your "Jamaican Food" fix. The food is awful and the staff at this location need some soft skills training ASAP. I have been to this location a few times to see if they have improved, and the answer is....they haven't. Golden Krust is an awesome company and this store is an embarrassment to the entire brand. So I did read the reviews but I was hungry for Jamaican food and it was the closest one to me. I wouldn't say both girls had attitudes, one of them was quite nice. She greeted me and said hello. Now the other, who was supposed to "help" or "serve" me, I can imagine all the "attitude" reviews are about her. She had about 6 different colors of eyeshadow and rolled her eyes in every way possible. I wasn't that hungry for Jamaican for me to stand and be treated like that. I didn't go to this one, but i can't find the location i went to on here. The one in Austell was awful. Their service was horrible, the girl acted like she was doing us a favor and we were inconveniencing her by her having to take our order. Food portions are not consistent! They are still serving burnt plantains, The beef patties were dried out, the curry goat is too spicy. The oxtail gravy is watered out. There is no supervision of staff who sometimes don't wear masks and gloves! The one on Old National is much better with portion sizes and consistency! The food is ok. Not one of the best but for the most part it will work. What I've noticed though is the inconsistency with the portion sizes. One of the things that disturbed me the most was their bun and cheese sandwiches. I bought two the other day but when I unwrapped it and looked inside I noticed that there was hardly any cheese in between the buns. When I looked at the unwrapped one I see that one part is visible with the cheese and the other side is wrapped tight so you as the customer won't notice that the sandwich only has a small piece of cheese in it. For almost $5 I think the sandwich should have a proper piece of cheese in it. Moreover I think that's deceptive. Okay, I went to this place 3 times before I wrote this review. I really LOVE Golden Krust food, and I was happy/sad one was opening near me (sad because I usually go nuts and buy way too much) but this one is NOTHING like the others. I haven't tried anything that was good it was edible but not tasty. They must have come up with their own recipe for the patties, because these are NOT up to par. The cake slices are comically cut into very small pieces. I think these owners are taking shortcuts and using lower grade ingredients thinking that it will help their bottom line, but so far this restaurant is a HUGH FAIL....I pray the owners read these reviews and start to do better, but you only get one chance to make a first impression...idk I may try again in few months. read more

Arrived ten minutes before 10:00 pm tonight while customers were in the store and was met with a locked door. A woman with very short hair and glasses told me that they closed at 9:00 pm even though the website and door said 10:0 pm. She said, "Oh no! Those are our weekend hours." Continued to smile and flirt while letting male customers out of the restaurant. Thanks but no thanks Golden Krust of Douglasville. Today was my first visit to this location. I've been to several other Golden Krust's locations and love the food. I ordered the oxtails and stew chicken small. All of the food was sub-par and lacked flavor. Perhaps, this location has not mastered the Golden Krust recipes. I'll be driving to the Stone Mountain location. read more

This place is a mess! Their Ackee & Saltfish dish was enough to feed a toddler and they don't allow your to substitute without a charge! And most importantly it was no Saltfish in the plate for $11.22 I returned my plate and won't be going back there. read more

First off let me say that I have waited for this place to open in my neighborhood for months. I have been to the different loctions in Queens NY and Jonesboro GA. This place never disappoints with the flavor of their food. I was disappointed with the cashier and their pricing. I order a small curry chicken with mac and cheese (as a substitute for peas and rice), the cashier tells me the mac and cheese is a side and I said the peas and rice is also a side. She then says she has to charge me $2.99 extra for the mac so I said okay, then she puts one spoon of mac on the plate so I ask can I get another spoon of mac and she says that will be another $2.99. All in all one small plate of curry chicken and Mac cost me $19.24 (Wtf I aint neva) As I said before I have been to the other locations and I have never went through anything like that before. Worst customer service ever. The ladies didn't even tell me that only fountain drinks come with the combo yet had the nerve to get an attitude when I asked for a non fountain drink. And then on top of that one of the cashiers put my unwrapped beef patty on the counter. My recommendation is just save yourself the trouble and dine elsewhere. I have been to other locations and Im a regular at the Old National location. This is my 3rd time to this location and every time I go I kick myself for making the mistake. This was the last time. They nickel and dime you for EVERYTHING. I got oxtails and was told that FOUR pieces come in a small plate for $14+! If you know the size of oxtail pieces then you know that's insane. Then they don't allow you to substitute sides. And the service? Pitiful! The food is just ok. I will continue to make the drive to the southside location where I get double the food with better service. I found the restaurant, the food (patties, curried chicken, curried goat, cakes) and the customer service to be at the top of the list. The only drawback was that some foods run out at times. Isn't that a good sign of the taste of the food? Anyway - go for lunch and there will be plenty of food. I am trying to support this place because I like Caribbean food, but they need a new staff. Period. Serving food then handling money and vice versa. They also need to wear gloves. Yesterday a lady was fixing my food with long nails. I looked down she had a bandage wrapped on her finger and as she was handling my plate one of her nails touched my rice. Happy to see a Caribbean restaurant in Douglasville. We make curry at home but it is good to know we can order out so the curry aroma doesn't linger at home. Small size was more then enough. I was overjoyed when I saw Golden Krust coming to D'ville. I'm from Fl and have been going for years down there. Up here I had to drive 30 minutes to College Park. So I was very happy about the Douglasville location opening...well...joy turned to sorrow because this one misses the mark of the great reputation this franchise upholds. The customer service is less than par, the efficiency of service is not good. Then, the quality of the patties are less than average to mediocre. Not what I'm used to!! These parties are supposed to be so fresh and flaky that the crust is sold by itself-hence the namesake!! Come on guys! Then if that's not bad enough they are consistently out of menu items. I arrived at 11:50am and ordered the red peas soup only to hear that it won't be ready before 1:00pm...ok we'll take down the sign. So I asked for a second choice option and there were no more green bananas...really? This place is so new and the buzz went from excitement to disappointment very quickly. Disappointed...attempted to call in an order for King Fish but was immediately placed on hold. After driving while on hold I arrived after almost 20 minutes later still on hold. When I arrived there was only one person in line and one person in the lobby. No complaints on the food. The lunch specials are reasonably priced and the food is seasoned well according to my tastes. Now that I have that cleared up, the one thing that I do not like is this ----- My first time visiting a Golden Krust was on another side of town ---not Douglasville. Because I arrived at that location after the lunch special cut off time, I just decided, I would look for another location on a different day. Luckily, I happened upon the one in Douglasville, and so the next day --- I went. As I stepped up to the counter, I told the lady what I wanted and was greeted with a "WHAT ??!!!" from the short, chubby woman with the short braids in her hair. I repeated my order and received a "HUH ????!!!!!" with a very nasty, snarky look on her face like she just finished sucking on a lemon. I just advised her that I would just wait for the other girl. I did and placed my order with that girl. A few days later, I returned to order again and the short, chubby lady with the braids served me ---rudely, I might add --- (I asked for extra gravy on my rice and she gave me a look like she was trying to burn a hole through me with her eyes and just slapped the gravy on the rice so hard, it splattered) and was insisting that she did not hear me on our previous encounter. ---- Seriously, she's STILL thinking about this ???-----Well - my opinion---it was just as simple as her just saying---"Excuse me? I did not quite hear you." --I got the impression of plain nastiness and I took the opportunity to tell her so. She started this 4-5 year old back and forth argumentative nonsense , I guess trying to convince me (unsuccessfully) that she was not rude and what I realized in all this back and forth blabber from her was----- I NEVER heard an APOLOGY out of her mouth. What I did advise her was that, as a Christian, I don't hold grudges and quite frankly, I had forgotten about it because it was so trivial and childish. However, I have a problem when I solicit a business (especially one of my own culture and background that I'm trying to support in these trying times) and I get treated like garbage, like I'm not important or like they don't really want to come to work to serve their customers. When I walk, my money walks with me and so do my referrals. I doubt that I'll be back to this location. To me, customer service speaks so much louder than the taste of some food and I can see why some reviewers say they won't be back because of it and I stand with them on that. I didn't even order from the first location I visited and they smiled from the time I came in until the time I left and even went so far as to say "Come see us again!"--- I didn't get that same treatment from the Douglasville location. Ok! So let me first off say my food was GREAT!!! I had the Brunswick chicken ... (I think that's what the server Said) With beans and rice/cabbage. I've eaten from here before, but only at the one in lithonia! And it was BOMB! That's why I decided to try this new location. the staff here in douglasville were nice.. The restaurant is very small compared to the one in lithonia, but still nice. Rachel a server appeared to be a little defensive when I asked ... Was this location ran by the same people in lithonia... Not knowing I only had something good to say, but after that encounter... I kept it moving!! Anyway!! The One thing I did not like was the size of my tray! Granted I ordered a small and it did fill me, but I'm just use to the tray sizes in lithonia... Excuse the repetitive comparisons :) but they showed me so much grace ... Every time I've went, and no I'm not a regular and other customers plates before me were fixed the same. Now back to my only issue! The tray size is horrible. I know it's a business and franchised... According to Rachel, but shesshhh! Can we up the plate size, or maybe I should up the amount I'm willing to spend. anyway, If the tray size was as nice as in lithonia this would have been a 5 star rating! I would give this place a solid three stars. Customer service was good and food was okay. I had chicken and beef patties with cocoa bread.
