The food was incredibly good here. Broad selection of both Thai and Chinese cuisine. They claimed Japanese as well, but I found there to be only minimal choices. That said, their teriyaki was one of the best I've had. Their fried silken tofu was absolutely delicious. Thank you YELP! We do not live in the area of this restaurant and we have no good Asian food near us in Lucas. So, we were looking for a good lunch spot and thought we would try this place. Good call! Very clean. Excellent service and wonderful food at reasonable prices. The owner and his wife came to our table to welcome us and thank us for coming. They are doing a fantastic job and we will plan on this being our number one choice for Chinese / Asian food. It will be worth the 15 mile drive to get this kind of food and service. Most of our requests were ignored and we had to ask multiple times for certain things, the food did not match what the prices were going for and obvious favoritism was shown to other tables. We have ordered from this place before. Tonight, we ordered 2 entrees, one soup, and 3 spring rolls. This totaled $37. THIRTY SEVEN DOLLARS!! The entrees were $11 each. They charged EXTRA for an extra sauce, and they charged EXTRA for FRIED RICE...you know...you choose either steamed or fried rice with your entree. They charged extra for it being fried rice! What a wonderful surprise! Based on its Yelp reviews, we expected to enjoy the Golden Pot but were surprised at how good it was. The service was attentive but not pushy. The menu was interesting in how it allowed you to customize your entree. The food was excellent. The portions were just right, the food was served hot, and everything was very fresh. Best of all was the taste. The seasonings were just perfect. I had a little kick which I wanted and my wife's sweet sauce was not overpowering. Golden Pot has become a regular for us and one of our favorites. It's tough for me to try new dishes because I like my favorites so much, but every new dish is a delight. The service is great. When our waitress saw that I poured some excess sauce into a side dish, she said that next time she'd tell the kitchen to give me less sauce. I'm getting hungry just writing this. read more

I have been ordering takeout from this restaurant for nearly two years. Always delicious! Today they accidentally forgot our eggs rolls. I called to let them know and they offered to deliver them. I assumed a delivery driver would swing by while out on another delivery. To our surprise the OWNER showed up with two fresh (and still warm) egg rolls. I can't stress how much different Golden Pot is now than on my first review a few years ago. They have been good for some time now but I just haven't been on yelp for a while. I feel I should apologize for keeping their rating down. We probably go here once a week. Every week. As I stated in my first review, they needed to hit their stride and work out the kinks. They certainly have done that. The staff is always pleasant and they have gotten to know my family well. The food is now consistently good and surprises are almost non-existent. My family runs the gamut from standard fried rice and mei fun noodles to more adventurous dishes like the different spicy curries and shanghai noodles and basil fried rice. The point being, if I didn't believe in how they were doing things in the back, I would not try something different and my kids would never get off sweet and sour chicken or beef and broccoli. We really like the food, atmosphere and especially the staff. The only reason I don't give 5stars is I'm kind of a snob about that. I have had better Chinese food. But, NEVER in Rowlett. I'm a huge fan of Golden Pot. I have lived in Rowlett for many years and I don't know why or how I missed this place but it is my new obsession. We would eat here 3 times a week if we could! The best part is they offer delivery and it's very prompt. We typically order egg rolls, egg drop soup, the chicken friend rice and Mongolian Beef. So often, many Chinese restaurants just fail at Mongolian Beef. Golden Pot gets it right! It's served on a bed of crispy rice noodles with fresh green onions and a flavorful, slightly sweet, brown sauce. The chicken friend rice is loaded with white meat chicken. I mean it is chock full! The egg drop soup is good too. I like mine with just broth and egg whites and this is how Golden Pot makes theirs. I'm not a fan when other restaurants add a bunch of junk to their egg drop soup like water chestnuts, carrots, peas, etc. The egg rolls are small but crunchy and full of veggies. YUM! You can order online and, like I said before, they deliver. It's always been very quick - typically less than 30 minutes. A couple of months ago, we had asked for extra fried wontons and when it was delivered we discovered the extras weren't included. No biggie - we didn't really need them anyways. But about two hours later, the phone rings and it is the restaurant saying that they just realized they didn't include the extra fried wontons in our delivery order and were so sorry. Who does that?! So very awesome that they care that much about their customers!! All this talk about Golden Pot has got me hungry. Gotta go - calling me in an order of Mongolian Beef from Golden Pot! read more

Let's start w the Chicken- large nuggets of chicken breast, lightly battered and fried to perfection. Sauce was good, portion for four was just right. Next up, the beef- GREAT cut of meat. Very tense good quality. I loved this dish. Portion for four was a little small but I would def get it again. Fried rice was really good w good size shrimp. Portion was good. Mei Fun- very tasty. Updating my rating...for the last year we have continued to support Golden Pot and it has been difficult. We had originally found it to be one of the only decent places around and gladly drive 20-25 minutes each way to pick up food. The last few times have progressively gotten worse. We have been double charged for our orders, had items missing almost every time and the quantity and most importantly the quality of the food has declined dramatically. Service is usually quick but there have been times where I have had to stand and wait for 30 minutes to get my order. Not sure what has happened but we won't be supporting this business any longer. read more

My go to items are the: Crab Ragoons, Sweet and Sour Chicken, and the Spicy Basil Fried Rice (w/out peas and carrots). Just reminiscing about how good the food taste makes my mouth water all over again. Golden Pot is a fusion between Thai and Chinese cuisine with tons of options to choose from. The restaurant itself is kind of small, but decorated really cute. Actually, this is a nice place to have an intimate and casual date night with bae! There's nothing "wrong" about this place. It's just a bad value proposition. I'm not going to use any hyperbole like it is "terrible", but it's bad to be charged $20 before tipping for an entree and as soup. The food is within the norm of American-Chinese delivery. It's sweeter than normal by a wide margin, but my guess is the average customer would tolerate this, if not even mistake it for good. If your exposure to what Chinese food could or should be is limited, and if you've no understanding for the relative value of money for what you are getting, then I can see giving this place anything other than 1 star. But for $20, go get yourself 3 combos from your favorite mega chain, 3 entrees from First Chinese BBQ, a bento and a drink from Genroku, 3 entress/lunch specials from Sichuanese Cuisine, 1 all you can eat from the various Korean BBQ establishments in Dallas, etc. For a comparable in the area, try Fortune House in Sachse for equally greasy Chinese food, but the owners are a sweet, Asian couple. Or, try Kung Pow Asian Diner in Plano where the grease is much less pronounced, and the mixed Cambodian/Chinese owner lady does all the ingredient buying herself. $3.00 for a delivery fee is also out of line unless those $3 are being taken and handed directly to the delivery guy. This is where problems really enter. Each entree needs to be at least $2 less than where it is at, maybe as much as $4, depending on where the reader of this review is located. To be fair, the delivery fee is only $1 on Golden Pot's website, but the $3 comes from other business partners. Maybe those are bad partners. In any event, figure out what you want to be: a respectable Asian diner that commands the asking price, or a run-of-the-mill junk Chinese food delivery place. Don't ask to get pricing from the former while delivering the latter. read more

What a little gem! Cannot believe I have not eaten here before. We ate in and the place is so clean, and quite pretty. It was quiet, you could hear the music and very comfortable. The server is extremely friendly and attentive. I had the Hot Pepper with chicken. And it's spicy. Very spicy. But really flavorful. My son had the Mixed Vegetables with chicken. He really like his as well. Would definitely come back here. I don't believe they deliver but there were people coming in for to-go orders. Food is fresh. I promise you the peppers in mine are FRESH. I would not get that again but I will definitely come back to try something else. :) read more
