This is the sister restaurant to "Tin-Tin" in MPK - bigger and more "fancy" whereas Tin Tin is more down to earth. Came here to Golden Soup several times before the fire/remodel because they had a good "lunch special" (lower prices for select dishes) that actually lasts until 6pm. It's been remodeled - more open and bright and they still have the lunch specials until 6. The food has always been good and still is, with reasonable prices. Service is typical - not great but not horrible either. Women's restroom is okay, but my husband says they didn't seem to remodel or take care of the men's. Lol. Overall, it's a solid place to go for Cantonese food, family style and if you have a large party or want a "nicer" place.

Haven't been here since the fire. They nicely remodeled the space. Seems more bright and open. However, it's clear they didn't spend any money to remodel the restrooms. Restrooms smell and not pleasant. Service is typical Asian service - efficient and straightforward. Their lunch specials are really good and it's what brings us in. Great variety of Chinese dishes. You're sure to find something you like. Been here for dinner a few times in the past and the food was just as good. Good place for when you crave the traditional Cantonese cuisine.

Finally reopened! Came here for the lunch special. It was one of my favorite places for lunch back then! Similar menu the inside looks elevated than before. The middle escalators are gone when going up to the restaurant. 2 big screens and tvs around showing FIFA at the moment. One of my favorite place for crispy chow mein. Gravy still tasty as before and love the ratio of crispy and soft chow mein. The salt and pepper fish fillet had a nice batter. Crispy and hot. Would need to rest it some more before plating bc it came with lots of oil. I got the house special lobster and it was cooked perfectly. Flavoring was good but can use more black pepper and aromatics. The fish maw soup leaned heavy on the sesame oil flavor. Fried rice was decent and big portion. Dinner rice bowls come at $2 a bowl. Got special steamed chicken $8 and steamed cod $10. Steamed chicken had a nice ginger garlic sauce but bit dry and thin. COD was not for me due to all the bones. Service was solid. Refilled water and changed plates promptly. Daily lunch is 11 to 6pm. Value prices per dish.

Hrm, okay quick overview: the place is your typical banquet hall style chinese restaurant. I showed at lunch because I heard they have a pretty affordable menu. This is true! As of writing this, most of their lunch menu is offered at $11.95 per dish, with some exceptions like noodle dishes going up as high as 16.95. The majority (like 80%) are 11.95. This comes with steamed rice and a soup of the day (which we got Bone Broth, which I suspect is probably the daily soup) Got a couple dishes, we picked all 3 of their specialties listed on the specials menu: red braised pork belly, sliced chicken and some fish dish (Some chinese names I'm unfamiliar with, but these are all on the specials menu that comes separate from the regular menu) The meat dishes... were okay.... The Red Braised Pork Belly were in massive chunks, which seems impressive at first, but they were ultimately a little dry/tough to eat through. The chicken was also kind of lacking in texture. Flavor was okay, but I think the meat dishes could have been cooked a little longer to maybe achieve some more tenderness. The fish I have no comment on, but it was a huge portion. The sauteed green beans were pretty awesome though. Snappy to the bite and had excellent flavor. I also actually enjoyed the complimentary bone broth soup that was provided. Simple, but tasted exactly as it should. I gotta say, portion-wise, they give fairly generous amounts. I think the popularity of this restaurant is in how easy it is to feed large families here for an affordable price. Service is fine and typical for a Chinese restaurant too. I just felt that some of the star dishes were kind of a let down, with my favorites being the free soup and the green beans. The pricing was good and the food was edible, but I just don't see myself going out of my way to come back here... Would rather go somewhere where the meat is actually tender. That being said, if I find myself here again, I might order the pork belly with preserved mustard greens. I saw one coming out of the kitchen on my way out and visually it looked like it was going to be a better experience.

I have really mixed feeling about this restaurant. I love the concept that every dish is priced at $11.95, making it affordable to try so many items. Unfortunately, the food and service left me more dissatisfied than impressed. The staff are constantly running around, yet so difficult to get their attention when they seem to entirely ignore your gaze until someone finally decided to help. We ordered several dishes, but most lacked flavor and finesse. We had already packed our leftover, and the Baked Pork Chop dish never arrived so we informed the staff to have it removed. Instead, they brought us the check, and dropped off the Baked Pork Chop as if we were supposed to happily accept after waiting the entire meal for it. No one came back to collect the payment, we pitiful packed up the dish and walked up to pay up front. $11.95 isn't a significant amount to fuss over, but this was about the experience and it truly left me appalled with the way the situation was handled.

We came here once for the soft opening, haven't been here since. I'm so glad that the quality of food is the same since the first time. Auntie reserved a table for 12 ( probably the most we can fit at a table) Our reservation was 530 we dropped in at 510 a bit early to drop off ice cream cake. They staff is so nice, they just asked for the last name and party size then put the cake in the fridge for us.

The Brothers Sun, a show about Chinese gangsters on Netflix was filmed here. If you want to catch the scene, it's Season 1, Ep. 7, I believe. Golden Soup had its reopening. I'm not sure why they closed in the first place, but there's a sign that says soft opening. It's on the second floor of a dated plaza. There's no signage guiding you to where the restaurant is, but it's not hard to figure out. The interior is very spacious with mostly banquet size tables, and it seems to be set up for large parties like a wedding. Currently, there are many dishes on their menu for just 12 bucks and that's likely withdrawing a lot of people in. Salt & pepper, fish fillet: hot crispy well seasoned 5/5 Sautéed string beans : 4/5 Baked pork chop in Peking sauce: 3/5 Pork belly with cabbage : except they gave us lettuce instead. 3/5. Chicken with ginger and scallions: quite bland 1.5/5 Catfish and tofu, clay pot: 4/5 Steamed cod: 4/5. Beef and scallions: 3.5/5. Some pieces of beef are rubbery. The food isn't consistent. Some are pretty good and a few are a hard pass. The service was attentive and pleasant. On the day we went, we were treated to a Lion Dance, which made conversations difficult for about 15 minutes, but it was entertaining. Golden Soup is a great place to gather with friends and family for a meal, with its menu choices and spacious accommodations. When we went, they were fairly new so getting a large table was easy, but once word gets out, it may not be the case.

I instantly recognized this place when I was watching the big season finale in Netflix's The Brother Suns. This place recently reopened with a light update to their decor, and the space feels modern and spacious while still keeping that classic big Cantonese banquet restaurant feel. Back with a competitive lunch special menu too, the reopening weekend seems packed, and it was Mother's Day Sunday too. We ordered a good table of Cantonese dishes for dinner. The lobster vermicelli was a little on the salty side, but the lobster itself was meaty and satisfying. The crispy squab was solid too with a nice texture on the skin. Service held up not too bad considering how busy they were. The staff stayed attentive throughout dinner and were quick about changing plates. Good to be back!

Yes, they have completely remodeled and are back open, baby! Woo hoo! COVID-19: Social distancing is not enforced at this establishment. Some of the staff wears a mask. All customers are not expected to wear a mask. It's optional now. The staff also wears gloves when handling food. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is available for take outs and has some indoor seating available with limited capacity. They are not sanitizing in between customers. I mention these things in my reviews for the sake of protecting immunocompromised people like the elderly and people sick with cancer and other illnesses. COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination. While eating my food in this establishment two weeks ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They currently don't have happy hour. They also do not allow pets in their establishment UNLESS it's a service animal. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is massive. They have so many places where you can park. Parking shouldn't be an issue. The sizes of parking spots varies. Just an FYI, there are no more escalators. It has been removed. There is an elevator though that people may use to get to the second floor since this restaurant is located on the second floor to the left. Food: I ordered 3 items to share with my family. It came with a free tub of hot and steaming jasmine rice that is refillable for free. Also, it came with a large bowl of soup, which contained Chinese bok choy and carrots. The soup was very fragrant, aromatic, and delicious. My family and I ordered the baked pork chop with salt and pepper, braised pork belly with preserved cabbage, and house chicken. The baked pork chop with salt and pepper was very crunchy, juicy, flavorful, and tasty. Thankfully the pork chops weren't too fatty. Highly recommend ordering it for the table. The braised pork belly with preserved cabbage was my favorite dish. It had the perfect combination of savory and tangy. The pork belly itself was super juicy. I loved the umami rich sauce. I enjoy pouring the sauce over my rice. This dish is so filling and packed full of flavors. They had the perfect amount of fat for each slice of pork belly. The preserved cabbage was fragrant, sweet, and scrumptious. Seriously, this is the star of the show. Order this folks. You can't go wrong with this dish! The house chicken had white cut chicken and it was very tender, juicy, and meaty. This should be ordered for the table too. So yummy! Staff: The staff here are very friendly, attentive, and courteous. They accept both cash and credit cards. There is no credit card minimum. However, if you pay with credit card, they will charge you 3%. Enjoy eating here, folks!

Located upstairs in a plaza on Valley Blvd just east of Delta. Very large restaurant with friendly staff and waiters. It's a very bright establishment. We came for the $11.95 lunch specials. To our surprise, it comes with free soup, rice and hot tea. We ordered Lotus Root w/ vegetables and Chinese Sausage, beef brisket stew, and fish filet with bean sprouts. Lotus root dish was my favorite. It was prepared perfectly. Lotus root was crispy, wood ear was crunchy and chinese sausage was as always flavorful. The fish filet was tender and beef brisket was good. I'm excited that we found this restaurant. Plenty of other lunch specials to try.

I heard this restaurant had just been renovated, so I decided to try it out. The interior is nice and modern. The service here was just ok especially if you don't speak Chinese. Some dishes were good and some were ok. They brought out a free fish soup which was not bad. Here's what we ordered: Braised tofu with brown sauce Mapo tofu Orange chicken Beef chow mein Stir fried bok choy Stir fried Chinese broccoli Braised eggplant Mongolian chicken ( but we ordered Mongolian beef) Braised spare ribs Curry chicken Pork chop with spicy salt Vegetarian chow fun Overall, I thought the food was good with a few exceptions. When we ordered string beans, they didn't have any. When the braised eggplant was brought out, there was meat in it even though we said no meat. The spare ribs had little flavor and it didn't look very appetizing. Everything else was pretty delicious! I would give them 3.5 stars. I think if the food was brought out according to what we ordered, it would have been better. The food wasn't as memorable.

On a Saturday afternoon in Mid May, my sister and I came here for lunch, we heard they are having a soft opening. We arrived at 11:30am and got a table right away. The interior looks brighter with lots of tvs. The staff are nice and speak English. Most of dishes were $11.95 except beef chow fun $15.95. We ordered fried shrimp, fried fish, beef chow fun, Mongolian beef, free soup and rice, free tea. Each dish arrived one at a time. More people came at 12 noon. Very good deals and plenty of staff.

Finally reopen after fire. Same great lunch specials until 6pm at $11.95. Plus new video screen added. Only minus is that the escalator up to the restaurant is gone so you have to climb the stairs or take the elevator.

(4/5) Clams with Spicy Sauce - Large clams with tons of meat, and the sauce was fire. Always a good choice. (5/5) Crab with Salt & Pepper - Loved the seasoning, and the flavors were solid. (4.5/5) Thai Style Beef Stew - First time trying this, and it was good. A bit different, but the meat chunks were tasty and the overall flavors were good. (4/5) Sautéed Pea Sprouts - Nicely done vegetable dish. It's simple but refreshing with good flavors. (4/5) Fried Whole Fish - This dish was gone so fast because it was delicious. Nicely fried and not overly seasoned. (5/5) Signature Lobster - I feel like you have to get this here since it's their specialty. It's pricey, but in my opinion, it's the best and freshest lobster in town. Tons of green onions, seasoned well, fresh meat, and lots of lobster roe. (5/5) Service was good, and they didn't automatically add a mandatory tip for a large party. The total came out to around $364, which is pricey, but the food was phenomenal. Parking - Valet only, but they have street parking in front. I parked on the street since there were plenty of spots on a Wednesday, but I assume it gets busy on weekends.
