I called ahead, and asked if they sold Washington State Parks Discover Passes. Yes! says the…read moreperson who answered the phone. So, on a dark and rainy Puyallup night I drove to their store. The first clerk I asked to sell me a pass fumbled around and could not log into a computer. He made an odd, childish sounding call to another clerk. That person came and the two of them would have been comical to watch, if not so sad. After about 5 minutes, clerk 2 called his manager. I had the dubious please of listening to first questions about the computer ( I could tell it was not good news of some type), then a long conversation about sales, socks and things the clerk was to do. It was very clear the customer standing awkwardly in their store was not important. So, after the call, I'd been in the store 10-15 minutes. The clerk addresses me, while looking down and to his left, like he was afraid of me. I had NOT said a single word at this point. He gave a long-winded excuse, this was a known issue, they had submitted tickets, they simply had to call the state and get it fixed. I simply said OK and left to find another store and by my pass. This store needs training and a manager shake up. To not post the computer was broke (so I would not drive there in the first place), to not notify staff, to not care about the customer standing there while they were talking socks and sales.... Everything that is wrong about retail training and service is endemic to this store.

They always have good prices and quality of shoes, and UNLIKE Target, they have Men shoes! Yay! They also have a good selection of camping stuff, hunting, and fishing and whatever else a active outdoor life needs :) I do think this store has real friendly and helpful employees as well.

The GM, Steven Finch, was even more dismissive and condescending when concerns were raised -- instead of addressing issues or following any standard procedure, he brushed everything off with comments like "what do you want me to do?" On top of that, several tournaments we had already paid for were canceled without resolution. Communication was almost nonexistent, accountability was completely lacking, and families deserve far better.

I chose the facility because it's close to our home, and the drive to the facility is pleasant as it's located in a residential neighborhood (weird, heh?) I called the place's main number, and some dude answered. He directed me to contact the director of player development. Well, the director of player development was busy with camps and tournaments at the time, so he referred me to the next 2 coaches in line. I contacted the second coach and was also advised he was busy with camps and games. When I contacted the third coach, he took a bit long to answer emails, but it was also because he was busy with tournaments during that time. The coach Jake did respond back about his availability and session rate. It was easy to navigate through the payment website. My stepson so far has had 2 private sessions with coach Jake, and we are happy with the guidance that he's been getting. The feedback from coach Jake is helpful and will definitely benefit my stepson with his skill development. My husband and I also got a chance to look at the try-out for all the clubs in the facility, and we know this is a good club to join.
