Wonderful raspberry cherry pie. There wasn't anything in particular I didn't like, but for some reason I can't bring myself to give more than 3 stars. Maybe it was our server...I had a whole conversation with her about whether or not mayo was on the turkey sandwich, and she said she didn't think so. And I said if it did, please no mayo. It came out with mayo, and when I pointed it out, she said "oh, did you say no mayo?" I guess she just seemed a bit disinterested. We were seated close to the open kitchen, and the staff in the kitchen was friendly and interacted with us as they worked. I think one of the other reviews commented the tortilla chips that come with the sandwiches are lame, and I agree. If you're going to offer a quirky side item instead of a more traditional potato based product, at least make it a good one. read more

We ate here for the first time today. Great atmosphere and really friendly staff! It was hard to decide what to eat, a lot of great options. I had a bacon cheese burger which was amazing, yum. My son had beef chili(they have 3 different kinds of chili). That was good. My daughter had a turkey avocado sandwich which she said was good. My husband had the Greek salad with blackened chicken on top. That was delicious! I couldn't try the sandwich because I have an avocado allergy but my husband said it was great! Then we had dessert! Such a cute place. Service was outstanding as well as the food. Homemade hot out of the kitchen. My husband had the special of beef stroganoff and the meat was so tender it melted in your mouth. Having just moved to Traverse City, I was invited to bring my family to this quaint restaurant in Glen Arbor. When I arrived, the restaurant was nestled along Main Street with patrons gathering for lunch. I knew I arrived at a great place when I saw the people laughing, talking, being comfortable, and enjoying lunch. My family had the greatest waitress known to mankind. She greeted us with a smile that exudes joy and friendliness. She was very pleasant throughout lunch. She never let the glasses go dry. She is so great that Muhammed Ali could hide in her shadow. Let me start my review by stating that this was during the very busy July 4 holiday rush. I will also say that our server tried her very best to take care of us. It is not lost on us these are challenging times to staff a restaurant and provide the service level that many of us are accustomed to receiving. That being said, the food served to us was nothing short of a abysmal. The least offensive dish our party received was the red pasta. I had the white fish it was over seasoned and undercooked. Another friend had the crabcakes that were tasteless and also poorly cooked. My wife ordered a stirfry dish that was delivered as a soup it was a salty mess and sent back. One of our appetizers was a shrimp scampi which was also undercooked covered in cheese and covered in cheese. The server was so pleasant in taking back the items that were not good and trying to accommodate us. While we understand that it's not easy to deliver the best food options when understaffed and during a busy time the quality of the food delivered to us as was as bad as I have had in a restaurant read more

I've come to Glen Arbor my entire life (over 40 years) and my parents live here year round, but I had never been to Good Harbor Grill. I used to go to the restaurant that was previously there, the Red Pine, when i was a kid. I ordered the Indian Curry. It was OK, not great. It was very filling, but it didnt have much chicken, and the curry flavor was very weak. The items on the menu seemed way over priced, with the average entree costing at least $25. I get that it is a tourist town, but geeze. I probably won't be going back. read more

By far the best meals we had in Glen Arbor. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast here, both fresh and delicious! The menu is inventive with plenty of vegetarian and gluten-free options. Okay so I read the reviews and decided to go in and give it a shot! The people who graded this place good were obviously locals... first the places A/C sucked and the tables and booths were tiny. The servers were RUNNING and just couldn't keep up. The salad had a weird fresh mix which was surprising but kinda tasted weird. Squash radish carrots ? The food was PRICEY 22.$ for a sirloin? We wanted to order the ribeye but wasn't told it was out of stock till we order. I got a pasta a fish and a steak with my family. Server knew her stuff and even made a extra run for me. Very great girl. But the food was tasteless. The quality of it i dont feel was the best. It was cooked to the best quality mediocre food can be cooked tho. You eat with your eyes but that's only half of it. The food looks appealing but once it hits your tongue it's absolutely god awful. After our terrible expirence at boondocks, we decided to try something no but boi that was a bad idea. My first red flag there are no french fries on the entire menu. And the fish sandwich we ordered was nothing but bread and a slim slice of fish. my sisters salad tasted a lot like hair and anchovy juice, now we know she will never be attacked by a vampire due to the excessive amount of garlic. and the store bought croutons put me over the edge as they said they were homemade on the menu. And worst part is that the side was simply plain tortilla chips with nothing to dip it in, what kind of side is that and because of the unfortunate open kitchen we had to watch her man handle the chips out of a store bought look alike off brand tostitos bag. The ratio of meat to bread is disappointing clearly none of them went to culinary school seeing as though they looked fresh into highschool. The burger was all meat and no bread what's up with that. The cheese on the burger looked plastic. If you love hummus well don't get this one unless your looking for a chickpea soup with occasional pieces of red substances. Very disappointed. Made a 2 hr trip here only to find out it's typical thinking inside the vegan box food. Only possibilities were the veggie wraps or sandwiches. The black bean burger is NOT vegan as it contains egg white. The only dressing that's vegan is the lemon basil. I wound up ordering the bowl of veggie chili (hold the sour cream and cheese). Which included corn and blue tortilla chips. A somewhat strange combination in my mind. The chili was OK, not great but at least it had a mild kick to it. Service was horrendous. 3 tables sat down after I placed my carryout order and they got their food before me. There were 3 waitresses, all of whom handed me off to someone else. First it was the busser who said she didn't know anything about the menu. Then the first waitress was too busy to answer my questions so she passed me to another server. Who promptly passed me to another. Who took my order and money very promptly and then ignored me for a good 15 minutes. Why it took that long to place 2 scoops of chili in 2 take out containers and throw in some tortilla chips, I'll never know. read more

We've been coming to Glen Arbor for years and this place has THE BEST food in Glen Arbor. There aren't many restaurants, so you will try them all. Arts is great for atmosphere and funky bar fun- but the food is nothing special... at all. Western Ave Grill is good but very simple, plain, nothing exciting. Good Harbor Grill is your only choice if you want something creative, healthy, fresh, and delicious! I really love this place. I had a soup there a couple weeks ago that was to die for. I called the restaurant yesterday and the woman that answered the phone had actually invented the soup! She told me all of the ingredients and I have it cooking on the stove now. Loved this place! My husband and I stopped there after hiking pyramid point at sleeping bear dunes. We were hot and hungry, I ordered they're good arbor salad topped with their black and white fish, my husband got the burger. Both were delicious. I love the fact that they use real plates and cloth napkins. A touch that is so often forgotten. read more

Stopped here for lunch after visiting the Sleeping Bear Dunes, and enjoyed a relaxing meal on the patio. The menu has good variety which is always welcome, especially in a "touristy" destination where it might be easier for restaurants to get away with cutting corners. I enjoyed a portabello mushroom wrap, which was nicely prepared with herbs and gorgonzola cheese... definitely a cut above what I'd expected. I was very happy here. The place was packed but we got a table quickly. The waitress was friendly and attentive and helpful when we needed to check in about whether a sauce had peanuts (allergy). The sweet potato encrusted grouper special was great- served with fresh corn on the cobb and red skin potatoes-mom's stir fry had fresh veggies not over cooked with a tasty Thai sauce. My family and I were deciding where to eat at 6pm, we got caught up at the Lake and had a late start for dinner. All the other restaurants had an hour wait when we decided to try Good Harbor Grill. There was no wait (that should've been the first hint). A small restaurant with lake and boat decorations, seemed like a cute/quaint spot. I ordered a 5 oz steak cooked medium. It arrived with 6, yes, 6 green beans on the plate and maybe 8 small diced potatoes wedges. First impression of my plate and I had to do a double take. The steak was burnt on the outside. As I proceeded to cut into it I barely could. It was over cooked, chewy, thin and overall disgusting. $22 for a cheap piece of meat, 6 green beans and 8 tiny potatoes wedges! Husband got the shrimp and pasta and it was undercooked and slimy. My daughters each ordered a kids pizza that offered no vegetables or healthy side. There were blue and corn tortillas chips on their plates. Why not some steamed broccoli or a side of simple applesauce? The pizzas were the little round ones you buy at the grocery store in the refrigerator section. They were a bit soggy. Needless to say I kindly sent back my entree and asked for a refund. Our meals were underwhelming and disappointing. Our waitress and hostess were nice and welcoming. We understand that Glen Arbor has few restaurants and high prices. We have been coming up to The Homestead for many years. We have had other family members eat here and they have had so so experiences. We thought we would give it a try. We stopped here on the way back from Sleeping Bear Dunes for lunch. Our group was 4 adults and 5 kids (4-13). None of us were disappointed. The food and service were excellent. And the portions on the salads and sandwiches were very big. It's also a very cute restaurant. They bake all their own bread! I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the area. read more
