We were hot and hungry, I ordered they're good arbor salad topped with their black and white fish, my husband got the burger. Both were delicious. We had lunch here a few days ago and dinner today. Having eaten in most places in the area, this is, by far, the best food. The service is very good also. The blacken whitefish sandwich is super. We had a Indian vegetarian entree, halibut entree and chippino entree. All were outstanding. The desserts of cherry raspberry pie and strawberry rhubarb pie were super. Every thing was fresh! They make all of their dressings. All of their food was generously prepared. They have vegetarian and vegan options which is rare up north so this was awesome for us. Fair service. Food rating is a solid good but not an overwhelmingly great. Ridiculously high prices for what we got. Tomato basil soup was just canned stewed tomatoes... it was good but I swear that's what it was. Tortilla chips on the side for everyone's meals. C'mon, put a pickle on the plate with the sandwich or something unique as a nibbler. It would make the $10 for a sandwich seem more appropriate. Stopped for lunch here and ordered chicken and rice soup with the turkey and avocado sandwich. I think they must roast all of their own turkey. It was thick slices and really fresh. The bread that they use for the sandwiches is really delicious. I enjoyed how the sandwich came with blue and yellow corn chips. Yum! They are closed for the season as of October 19th. read more

Good Harbor is a staple in Glen Arbor. Wet usually come here for lunch and sit outside. They use fresh ingredients in all their dishes. Our favorite is the turkey sandwich. I was very happy here. The place was packed but we got a table quickly. The waitress was friendly and attentive and helpful when we needed to check in about whether a sauce had peanuts (allergy). Salad was fresh with mixed greens. The sweet potato encrusted grouper special was great- served with fresh corn on the cobb and red skin potatoes-mom's stir fry had fresh veggies not over cooked with a tasty Thai sauce. My family and I were deciding where to eat at 6pm, we got caught up at the Lake and had a late start for dinner. All the other restaurants had an hour wait when we decided to try Good Harbor Grill. There was no wait (that should've been the first hint). A small restaurant with lake and boat decorations, seemed like a cute/quaint spot. I ordered a 5 oz steak cooked medium. It arrived with 6, yes, 6 green beans on the plate and maybe 8 small diced potatoes wedges. First impression of my plate and I had to do a double take. The steak was burnt on the outside. As I proceeded to cut into it I barely could. It was over cooked, chewy, thin and overall disgusting. $22 for a cheap piece of meat, 6 green beans and 8 tiny potatoes wedges! Husband got the shrimp and pasta and it was undercooked and slimy. My daughters each ordered a kids pizza that offered no vegetables or healthy side. There were blue and corn tortillas chips on their plates. Why not some steamed broccoli or a side of simple applesauce? The pizzas were the little round ones you buy at the grocery store in the refrigerator section. They were a bit soggy. Needless to say I kindly sent back my entree and asked for a refund. Our meals were underwhelming and disappointing. Our waitress and hostess were nice and welcoming. We understand that Glen Arbor has few restaurants and high prices. We have been coming up to The Homestead for many years. We have had other family members eat here and they have had so so experiences. We thought we would give it a try. We stopped here on the way back from Sleeping Bear Dunes for lunch. Our group was 4 adults and 5 kids (4-13). None of us were disappointed. The food and service were excellent. And the portions on the salads and sandwiches were very big. It's also a very cute restaurant. They bake all their own bread! I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the area. read more

i wish we had a better experience. let me start off with some of the pros. it's a cute little cafe/grill right in downtown glen arbor. It has outdoor seating and they had no problem letting us sit there with our pooch - bonus. and at first glance, the menu looks diverse with something for everyone. unfortunately, this is where the pros stop.. the service was not good. it was not terrible but it really left something to be desired; it was impersonal, rushed and an overall let down. i really don't want to get into the specifics of it but there were some major areas that were lacking (dirty water glasses etc...) the food we ordered (a pesto veggie burger, and an avocado turkey sandwich) were both just blah... however, our neighbors' salads and soups looked good and perhaps that's the route we should have embarked on... i really want to like this place, so perhaps we will go back and try the other fare but in the meantime i hope the waitstaff will step up their game... read more

We had a decent lunch here. My crab cake sandwich was actually awesome. My husband had the turkey avocado sandwich which was very mediocre. The sandwich looked great and was quite large. When you bit in though you'd be hard pressed to tell me what you were eating. It was very bland. The corn chips served with the sandwiches were just out of a bag. The service was quite slow during the lunch rush but if you get a table outside its a pleasant wait. I'd probably return here but maybe not during their busiest time. read more

Great little place for breakfast. Food was served quickly and tasted great. They use Michigan eggs too. Coffee was good as was the service. Cool nautical theme with beautiful teak wood tables and chairs. If it's nice weather you can sit outside. read more

I was very disappointed with this place. The food was awful and expensive. I had a piece of dry, tasteless whitefish while my wife had a nasty pasta dish which featured pesto and uncooked pieces of green pepper. Also, the waitress was very inattentive. Overall, the food was on par with a place like Denny's, but our bill was over $50. Glen Arbor overall is probably the worst of the cities near Sleeping bear dunes. Go to Traverse city, Suttons Bay, Leland, Northport for a better overall experience! read more

Good lunch stop after walking the dunes. The building is kind of small, but it looked clean & orderly. We were surprised to walk in and find they have beer & wine. Very good homemade soup and sandwiches. I had the turkey sandwich and clam chowder (soup & half sandwich). The kids pizza also looked very good. One caution, if you need french fries, go somewhere else. They serve a handfull of tortia chips with the sandwiches. We asked for some salsa, which our waitress brought to us. They had no problem accommodating a group of 13 for a late lunch. We all enjoyed a good casual dining experience. I would eat here again. read more

Best lunch in Glen Arbor! We came here before kayaking the Crystal River and ate in their front porch. After tavern food most of the week, this was refreshing. Healthy, natural food with a lot of vegetarian options! I had the salmon sandwich which was cooked perfectly though a bit too salty. My husband had their vegetarian chili which he enjoyed. Very tiny and kinda noisy place but excellent food. They have some unusual breakfast offerings including a Vermont scramble with bacon, tart apples, and sharp white cheddar that was wonderful. Husband had a German omelet which had sausage, Redskins, and sour cream and he loved it. The prices are a little high but not out of line in this tourist town. Food and service was ok. The good- no wait, spicy corn chowder. The ok- curry chicken wrap, white chicken chili (only the cheesy bites were flavorful), portobello mushroom wrap (not very flavorful). Server asked if we wanted the soup right away but failed to mention the chili was made to order from the kitchen. Most inattentive service ever. Never refilled water, never asked how our food was (mine was terrible and it is the first time I've ever not eaten a meal at a restaurant), slapped our bill on the table as she walked by, no eye contact, with never bothering to ask why I still had a full plate of food. I ordered the basil pesto at the recommendation of our waitress and it was described as veggies with noodles. What i got was a bowl full of flavorless, oily pasta with 2 pieces of broccoli, a one inch piece of red peppers and i think i found two half slices of summer squash. I had even specifically asked about how many veggies came in the entree. But of course I never could get her attention to address it. My husband was going to get the salmon, but the waitress said she did not like salmon and recommended the walleye. Big mistake. His fish was so dry, potatoes disgusting. How is this passable for dinner? I'm no gourmet cook, but i have made delicious pesto - it's not hard. The ironic thing is I heard her tell the table next to us that the salmon was great and she loved it?! Sixty dollars is a lot to pay for bad food. I have never written a bad review of a place before but felt like I should warn people. read more

Food was good but be prepared to nickled and dimed here! For 3 people to eat breakfast, what I would consider to be a reasonable breakfast, it cost us $60! Coffee was $2.50 pp, we asked for pancakes instead of toast and got an "upcharge" of $4.50. RIDICULOUS. The table was dirty (predecessor's chips). I asked for a steak (for medical reasons) during lunch time and was told that wasn't possible. Couldn't eat anything on the menu, so ordered a soft drink that was forgotten, and wasn't offered a refill. Water was warm (no ice), smelled and tasted a bit weird. Check didn't come. At 8:00 am on a Sunday morning, our outside table welcomed us for a tasty egg breakfast with good, fresh decaf coffee. Hollandaise sauce was a little bland, but otherwise delightful. GHG is always a favorite when in Glen Arbor. read more

I went to the good harbour grill with six other people and none of them enjoyed their experience, but for the sake of a fair review, I'll stick with my own experience. price: 1/5 This place was way too expensive for the quality and quantity of the food served. Service: 3/5 Very average service. Waitress did nothing special and took a while to come around with refills. Food: 2/5 The food wasn't horrible, but it wasn't good, and that's coming from someone who will eat anything. I ordered the maryland crabcake which came on a wheat bun with lettuce and tomato with a side of chips. First off, I could barely taste anything but the bun. Secondly, a handful of plain tortilla chips hardly counts as a side. Atmosphere: 3/5 Again, very average. A few decorations and pictures, nothing great. Every year I make a point to visit GHG. The staff is friendly and the food is wonderful. Be sure to try one of their desserts!

This place has good salads and sandwiches. I used to like their soups, too, but on our last visit, we ordered soup and we sent it back b/c it tasted like water. Then we ordered the other soup and it tasted like water, too. Stick to the sandwiches and you will be fine. read more
