First of all, I loved that the owner picked up the phone and promised me good service. That may sound strange but after calling a few companies, and having customer service reps who were half interested in what i had to say- seeing this personal touch was important. I contacted this company to give me a quote for two separate items. One was to move a large piece of furniture from a second floor to my garage and the second was a full house move to another suburb. The owner talked to me, really seemed to get that if he gave me a good price on the first, he would get the second. Set up tentative move date of desk and house quote for Saturday. I told him he would need 3 guys and he said he would come out and be the 3rd guy and do the quote the same time and he would confirm Thursday. We held Saturday open which when you work all week is a huge inconvenience. Guy never called Thursday like he said. When I called him the next week to see what the deal was he could barely remember our conversation. Made excuses for not calling saying," Well it doesn't matter because we couldn't have done it that day anyway." Well, you know what? It does matter. It's my time, which while not valuable to you, is to me. Then he has the audacity to suggest the same scenario again - how about you hold yet another Saturday open and I'll give you a call. Not. Used them twice for a whole house move. Once to move 30-40 boxes and other items in a preliminary move (only 12 miles ) to new house. Was so pleased with their work, hired them again for the full move three weeks later. Rates are fair, and wow, do these guys work hard! They kept up a steady, efficient pace throughout the day. Polite, helpful, and careful. They wrapped mirrors and furniture. Manny and Rafi lead the team of six men. I was impressed both times I used this company. First estimate was on the money. Second move actually came in slightly under the estimate, in part because we had everything boxed and labeled, including furniture placement, saving time at the destination. Just used Good Move for a move across the suburbs. I have moved at least 10+ times and this was by far one of the best experiences. From the time I called to investigate pricing and to book the move, I knew I was in good hands. In fact, after talking through the move details with the owner, I stopped my search and booked them. And while they weren't the cheapest, they were fair and came in under the estimate. The crew of four was super hard working, respectful and truly cares about the things they were packing to ensure they were not damaged. I've used good move movers twice in the last 6 months. The first project was to move into my condo. The second project was to move storage materials from the suburbs downtown into a storage unit. In both cases, the workers were prompt, efficient, and well priced. The most recent crew of Alex, Ralphie, and Art worked well and moved my storage materials into a downtown unit. It was all done within 3.5 hrs and cost less than I expected. Today on 04/27/17 Richard, Ralphy and Jose from Good Move Movers moved my furniture out of my apartment into a U-Haul storage facility. The guys did an amazing job. They wrapped all of my furniture in blankets along with all of my framed pictures in plastic wrap. They were fast, efficient, polite and very attentive. We used 'Good Move' to get out of a condo and move stuff to 4 different locations which was challenging. The team arrived on time and got the bad news that the elevator in the building was not working. I did not hear any complaining at all! They adjusted the plan, found the stairs, took inventory of what stuff was going to which of the 4 locations and loaded the truck appropriately. All 4 stops for unloading went smoothly. We moved within the western suburbs of Chicagoland in August 2014. I called around before our planned move week and left a couple voicemails. Good Move was the first company that i actually spoke with. Chris the owner, took note of our details and quoted me a price. Well the next guy i called had apparently moved a few of my colleagues back in the day, so I found him on Yelp and gave him a call. He gave me a much much higher price than good move and challenge me to find anybody that would move us for lower than what he quoted. He even offered to come out on Sunday and do a free assessment of our stuff. Well, no surprise, I called back Good Move and confirmed my move with them for Sunday August 31st. The positive experiences never stopped from that point, on Monday I received an email from Jill their The Office Admin with a written estimate as an attachment. That was reassuring, no surprises. Well on Tuesday we had our big closing on the house so as you can imagine things were really crazy from that point onward. Chris called me a couple times and followed up to get my confirmation on that estimate. He also asked if at all it was possible to switch our move date to Saturday but I told him no and he was happy to accommodate our request for a Sunday move. The night before our move of August 30th we were up most of the night trying to get as many boxes packed as far as possible. On the morning of August 31st, Good Move showed up. As promised, a crew of three and a truck, promptly at 8:30 a.m. Tom, a supervisor took a quick look around and they immediately got to work , as the day progressed and loading up all our stuff into their truck. I was surprised at how efficiently they used the space inside the truck, because our entire 2 bedroom apartments worth of furniture seemed tucked away in the back. They put padding around our flat screen TV which we had wrapped in its own packaging. They had given us the option to carry it ourselves (they would load it into our minivan), but I decided against it because they seem to be doing such a good job and I let them take it in the truck. My 10 year old daughter and I, driving our minivan,followed them to our destination address. They arrived before us, making great time. At that point we were around the halfway mark of their 3 hour minimum. It was getting to be really hot and humid (August day in Chicago) and we could appreciate the guys efforts as they went up & down our stairs and into the basement lugging the heavy items of furniture. i put my daughter on water duty and it was her job to keep the crew supplied with bottles of chilled water from our refrigerator's in-door dispenser. Towards the end, one of our nightstands was placed on the truck's liftgate and fell forward onto our driveway. Tom immediately apologized and set to work with his tools repairing it. It was not bad only the front had popped off. To make up for it he told us he wouldn't charge us for the extra half hour we had gone over. When we settled up, true to their word, i wasn't charged a dime more than their quoted estimate. Chris had even thrown in a discount if i paid in cash, which i did. My one small regret is that I had the exact amount of cash in my wallet and no more. I would have been happy to add a little extra because of our complete satisfaction with their service. Bottomline: if you are looking for a reliable moving company with whom to trust your next move, look no further than Good Move Movers. I had a great feeling about these guys from the initial phone call. We were closing on the sale and purchase of our house on the same day - and they had no issue with a holdover/afternoon unload. Pricing was phenomenal compared to the other two companies I researched (right in line with what I expected to pay). Jill and Chris were awesome throughout the booking process and Art, Danny and Tim are true artists of their craft. These guys have decades of experience. A second move was so horrific, it totally negates the first one. From not providing any sort of arrival window, to breaking my flat screen stand and gluing it back together, then attaching the tv to a glued stand, which of course broke off almost crashing the screen to the floor;to slashing a box spring; to bending my king size coil mattress in half so it now has a hump; to pushing out and breaking a window screen; one of the movers falling backwards into a door that in turn slammed into the wall; to driving off the property with a back door of the truck swinging open and closed as the truck drove off the property and down the street; to rude disrespectful movers; and a totally unconcerned Chris Dunne; this was a damn nightmare and I will never recommend or use this company again. read more

They scoped our residence and informed us that we needed two trucks and provided an updated estimate for their 5-man crew. When I contacted Chris about moving my parents' furniture into an Assisted Living facility, we didn't have a move date confirmed but knew it was going to be within a week. I called two days before the move date and Chris was very accommodating. We couldn't move furniture until my parents were out of the house. Chris fit us in after another morning move and it worked out great! Alex and his partner called 30 mins before they arrived. They arrived on time and efficiently loaded all of the furniture we needed. When they arrived at the facility, some pieces were marked to for my dad's room and others marked from my mom's. She's in their memory care unit. They were familiar with the facility, knew where the elevator was and the location of both rooms. Everything ended up where we intended it and nothing was damaged. Good Move helped us out in a pinch when our closing date moved back one day just 2 weeks before the scheduled date. Luckily, they had availability and the flexibility to deal with a morning move out and a later afternoon move in once we completed the closings. The estimation process was easy as we didn't need to provide an inventory of boxes, just info on a few of the larger items and the layout of the buildings. An hourly rate for 3 guys was a really easy way to go for us. Randy's team of 3 worked well together and worked diligently to get us out of our condo by closing and into our townhome later that day. The only issue keeping me from giving 5 stars is regarding the arrival time. I had relayed to Jill that arriving closer to 8am was ideal, as we had a late morning deadline to be out. I don't know if it was communication, traffic or something else, but the crew didn't get started until 9am, which did make it a scramble to get out by the deadline. While we hope to stay put for some time, we would use Good Move Movers again. read more
