From the moment we walked in, the hospitality was on point and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. One thing I love about Fixins is that the menu truly has something for everyone. We even got the chance to meet Aunt Pearl, whose name appears on the menu, which made the experience feel even more special. We ordered the Chicken & Waffles along with sides of Mac & Cheese and Candied Yams. The candied yams were buttery, sweet, and everything you want from a classic soul food side. The mac and cheese was rich, creamy, cheesy, and packed with flavor. The waffle was a standout. It had a subtle spice to it, a crispy exterior, and paired perfectly with the chicken. The chicken itself was well seasoned, perfectly battered, and fried just right. And then there's the Red Kool-Aid. Fixins should honestly bottle that stuff and sell it by the gallon because it was THAT good. One thing that caught my eye on the menu was their Kool-Aid soaked pickle. I didn't try it this visit, but next time I'm definitely ordering one of their sandwiches because it comes with the sandwich plates and I'm too curious not to. The food, service, and atmosphere all came together to create an experience that felt like family.
