From the moment we walked in, the staff were incredibly kind and patient, walking us through the entire build-your-bowl process since it was our first visit. We truly appreciated how welcoming and helpful they were. We were impressed by the wide variety of fresh and healthy ingredient options. There are so many fresh toppings and sauces to choose from, and it was so easy to fully customize our bowl from base to protein to toppings. It is not a preset menu spot, which makes it even more fun. We also loved how vegetarian- and vegan-friendly the options are. The portion size was surprisingly generous (more than enough for us)! For the quality and price, it was honestly very impressive. Our bowls were served hot straight from the grill, and we felt like we were watching a cooking show as the staff prepared everything right in front of us. We could literally feel the heat from where we were standing. Huge thumbs up to the hardworking team managing both prep and grilling. Everything tasted fresh and flavourful without being overly greasy. We even had leftovers for lunch the next day, and it still tasted amazing. We also loved their healthy drink options and frozen yogurt. Learning that their entire menu is seed-oil free and refined-sugar free made us appreciate the concept even more. The space is clean, bright, and has a super welcoming atmosphere. It is a great option when you want something warm, hearty, and customizable instead of cold salads or typical fast food. We stepped into this brightly lit and welcoming store on a weekend. There are many different offerings here. The friendly staff can also help you with your choices to make it easier. I ordered a Regular Bowl ($15.95) with egg noodles, various fresh veggies, hormone-free chicken, and teriyaki sauce. I feel that I could've asked for more sauce though as I prefer more saucy noodles. I loved how the ingredients and toppings were all made on a grill top in front of you and it is served sizzling hot! The fruit smoothies ($8.65) were such a treat too! We chose the Green Machine (spinach, apple, kale, pineapple, banana, low-fat vanilla froyo) and the Classic (strawberry, banana, orange, low-fat vanilla froyo). Loved the vibes the moment I walked in. It was bright, clean, and easy to order as the instructions were clear! Got 2 regular bowls, one with A.J's Mix (Teriyaki, Chipotle Coconut, And Hunan) and another with Young Savage Mix (Thai Red Curry, Hunan, And Spicy Korean). I loved how everything was super fresh, but I was unfortunately not a fan of the sauces. It didn't seem to mesh well and I think I'd likely try the basic flavours instead of the pre-built sauce mixes! Good Bowl is located in Central at Garden City in Richmond. This wasn't Grayson and I's first time visiting Central at Garden City but we never realized how many restaurants there are in the plaza and I think this will be our new stomping ground in Richmond for the next little bit or at least until we try all the other places in the complex out. I decided to get a juice and Grayson got a smoothie. Each drink is $5.95 at 12oz. It sounds kind of steep but this is pretty average as far as fresh juice and smoothie prices go these days. For the juice I got to choose between a base of apple, orange, pear, beet or carrot. I decided to go with beet and then you get to choose any veggie you want from the display case to add some more pizzazz to your drink. I decided to go with beet, pineapple, celery, ginger and kale. Grayson wasn't a fan but I enjoyed it and felt rather radiant after. Grayson went with the green machine smoothie that had spinach, kale, pineapple, fro-yo, and banana. The fruits added sweetness to the green veggies and he enjoyed his drink. His only negative was that he won't ask for ice next time because it was already quite cold from the fro-yo. Build your bowl: You get to choose your carb after you choose the size of your bowl which is between jasmine rice, wild rice or noodles. The two of us went with wild rice because it was the healthiest option out of the three. Then right before you go to the cooking area, you choose your protein which is between free-range chicken, grade AAA beef, tofu or sakura pork. You can also choose to add-on shrimp or an egg at an additional cost. Once you have all the raw ingredients on your plate, you pay for your meal before your food gets sent off to the cook top. But before your food even gets on the grill, you need to choose your sauce(s). You can either choose to go with one or mix a bunch to create your own. I went with the Hunan, coconut lime leaf and lemongrass ginger. Grayson went with the Hunan and the coconut lime leaf. Our taste buds couldn't be any more similar. Even though it is a mongolian grill, they don't add lots of oil to the hot plate when they cook. All they use is a spritz of extra virgin olive oil before adding your plate of food along with some water to facilitate the cooking process. The cook time took about 5-8 minutes so it wasn't too long of a wait. As expected the sauces made the bowls into amazing creations. The coconut lime leaf sauce was the most prominent out of the ones we chose because all you could smell was the coconut coming off the plate. They were sooo good and they definitely have the right to be called "Good Bowl." read more

I was invited to try Goodbowl's bowls and smoothies, and they did not disappoint. The amount of vegetable ingredients that you get to choose from is quite extensive, and you could tell just by looking that they were very fresh. You can select from white or mixed grain rice, or noodles as a base. Proteins include beef, pork, chicken, and tofu. Prawns and eggs can also be added. The sauce options are plentiful, with the ability to mix and match. They have a few suggestions to guide you as well for combinations. There is also the option to add spice as well. We ended up getting a coconut lime leaf sauce bowl, and then a tandoori + teriyaki sauce combo bowl. I liked the latter more, but both were pretty good. The smoothies we tried were the green machine and mango magic. Both tasted fresh and were quite filling, so you can really tell they pack a lot of ingredients into what you get. Service was very fast, albeit we did not come when it was very busy. There is a lot of seating room and the interior is spacious. Customer service is amazing, staff is very helpful and patient, they truly make the experience there great. We had two bowls Medium Size ( You can pick kid - medium - large size). They have quite a range of high quality ingredients to choose from. It's basically build your own bowl style. You also get unlimited amount of veggies in your meal! How amazing is that? You have a choice of noodles, white rice and wild rice to choose from with no additional cost. We chose to have one with noodles and one with rice. After you pick your veggies you pick your protein you can choose between a free run/grain fed/ hormone free chicken, AAA Certified Angus beef, Sakura pork, and tofu. There are some extra proteins to choose from as well, like a free run egg for $1.95, prawns $3.95, if you wish for extra meat it will cost you $2.95 (regular bowl) and $3.95 (large bowl). I was nicely surprised when they told us all their sauces are made in house, and there are so many of them. To go along with our awesome build yourself bowls we had a fresh squeezed orange juice and a smoothie. You get to choose the fruits or veggies that will go into your glass and the they freshly squeeze the juice in front of you. There is a spout in front of the glass where the juice comes out. It was so fresh and delicious! As for the smoothie we picked a Green Machine - Spinach, apple, kale, pineapple, banana and low-fat vanilla froyo. And as if all of that wasn't enough to wow me, we had energy bites, that are made with oats, flax seed, chocolate chips, natural peanut butter, honey and chia seeds. They were super accomodating and provided great service during our time there. We got 2 bowls, one with Tofu and one with Beef You can pick as many vegetables as you want with a choice of noodles or rice (Jasmine or Wild Harvest). Last step is choosing the sauce base and there were so many options and spice levels !Carmen opted for the Coconut Lime Leaf while Lukasz got the "Young Savage ( Sams Mix)". It's a nice place that tries to embody healthy eating. Inside is very clean, open, & simple that has the large grill at one end of the place and large windows. It has gender neutral washrooms. You choose the bowl size, then your base, then veggies, then protein. There is a good amount of sauces you can add to your selection for when they cook it. The bowl sized are kiddie, regular and large bowl sizes. They have a great selection of vegetables so you can have a good variety. The proteins are Angus beef, pork, chicken and tofu. For the sauces, you can choose a couple or choose one of their combination type. They also have fresh fruit drink, selection is okay. There is a spout in front of the glass where the juice comes out. You choose your fruit/veggie selection and the employee puts it down a tube on the side which then produces the juice out of the spout. I've been here a couple of times: when they first opened, a couple of weeks after that and then a couple of days ago. They still do not have any smoothies, even though the sign for it has been up since they opened. I recommend that they cover that part of the sign so people know it's not available (yet). They say it will be set up soon but I'm not sure when that will be. If you want something good, I recommend you try this place. read more

There were two employees today. They made a mistake with the sauce. I had asked whether the coconut milk lime leaf sauce was spicy and they said no. I told them it was for my young kids. However, there were red chilli flakes and it was definitely spicy. First they said it was not spicy and then they did not provide a solution. I suggested remaking it, but they responded with a poor attitude. Their napkins are also placed in a way that is not supposed to be accessed by customers, at a hidden corner behind stacked tables, but the worker told me to grab it myself. I made a suggestion to relocate it since it feels like a cafeteria style dining area, but she said we're not supposed to take the napkins. read more

I've been here maybe 20 times and have not been disappointed. You start with choosing the plate size (kid's, regular, or large), then your toppings, and then your protein. Everything is loaded onto a plate. After paying for it, somebody will ask you for your choice of sauce, and, if you opted for rice instead of noodles, whether you want wild or white. I always get wild rice and select ALL the toppings. I like things spicy, so I order it with what they call the "Savage Mix" sauce, plus I notch it up to a "one pepper" rating. They grill the ingredients Mongolian-style, and call you by name when it's done. A great way to grab a healthful, lowish in carb, quick, one-bowl meal. The employee knows what they are doing and are always available to give suggestion when you are lost/indecisive (like me). In term of the food, they have a variety of fresh veggies, meats, sauce (my favourite is the lemongrass one) to choose from. I also like to put a spicy pepper and an egg on my bowl. And I have to mention, the juice bar is the main reason I love this place. They squeeze the juice in front of you so it always tastes fresh and healthy. The decor and tables are modern and clean. I've been wanting to try this spot for awhile now and finally had lunch there today with the lovely Zi Y. Goodbowl is located in a central location in Richmond in the new-ish Central City Center. Since it's in a plaza, there are plenty of free parking spots nearby. The concept of this place is simple: you pick your base: noodles or rice, pick your veggies + toppings, then pick your protein (beef, pork, chicken, or tofu). Then they toss it all on a large circular grill - Mongolian style. Last step: choose your sauce. For mine I chose chicken for my protein, wild rice as my base, kale, spinach, carrots, peppers, mushrooms, and more for my toppings, and chipotle coconut as my sauce. All of this took less than 10 minutes and it was delicious! I guess I didn't realize how hungry I was because I scarfed it all down real quick. I think that next time I'll go with the noodles because it definitely seems like you get more bang for your buck there. They also have an assortment of smoothies that you can choose from. I decided on the green juice smoothie which tasted healthy and delicious. Since we came in around lunch time it was fairly busy with a small lunch rush, but the staff handled it perfectly. I love that they make the smoothie right in front of you. Super healthy, no sugar added smoothie. It taste kind of watery but that's how you know that they don't add any sugar/additives in their drinks. My bowl was massive (for a late night snack) but filled with veggies and sauce of my choice. I was looking for a place to have a late lunch by myself after shopping at Walmart, and found this place which is right across from Walmart. The store is nice and clean, with friendly lady staff. There's a huge grill platform on the left side of the store open concept, where they stir fry all the fresh ingredients on it. I've also seen this at Mongolian Grill on Denman Street in Vancouver. You can basically build your own bowl with a selection of veggies and protein, and you can also add extra egg and protein for a cost. There are different sizes you can choose from. Once you finished selecting the ingredients, you can pay at the front. There's also a vitamin bar where they make fresh juice and smoothies. You have a choice of noodles, white rice and wild rice to choose from at no additional cost. They will give you a list of sauce to choose from, you can mix it up on your own, or they have a list of recommended mix to choose from. I ordered a regular bowl with wild rice and Vick's mix sauce. It was delicious! It's definitely compatible to U-Grill, which is a Japanese food court chain that has the same concept. What I like about good bowl is they pre-size everything and they don't charge by weight. So you have to worry about ordering too much.
