Came on a Sunday around 2pm with my fiancée. Line was out the door and people were sitting down chatting. Demographic here definitely reminds me of techies and micro influencers. Took about 20-30 minutes to order and get our drinks. My biggest pet peeve here is the pricing. For just our two drinks it was $17.25, add on tip or whatever else and you can easily expect spend $20.00 combined for what is essentially 6-8oz drinks. We got the Pistachio Einspanner ($8.50) and Urban Angel ($8.75). Easiest way to describe the drink is milk with a layer of cold foam, and a shot of espresso or matcha on top. The Urban Angel drink is just the matcha version of the Pistachio Einspanner. Staff says it is best enjoyed by eating the cold foam first, but we decided to just mix it all together after trying a couple of bites from it. Flavor for both was just okay. My honest opinion is it's just a trendy or viral drink which they decided to upcharge for. Cool if you want to check it out for the one time, but not great enough to come back to. read more

We stood at the front counter to order and waited for one of the three staff at the front to turn their attention to us to take our order. Desserts were sold out by mid afternoon. Fancy coffee drinks. Some listed on the wall sell for as much as $15 for a cup. We decided on the cold Hojicha Latte which was $7.50 and the Pistachio Eispanner which was $8.75. The Hojicha Latte was very good but we wished the ratio of milk could have been a bit less than the amount of tea. Thankfully both drinks were unsweetened which is what we like. The Pistachio Eispanner is a cold drink made of a double shot of single source espresso, cold milk, their house made-cream made with pistachio butter and topped with finely chopped pistachios. Came back here again and my review still remains the same! Such a cute cafe and I like how they change some menu items! I got the Guihua (Osmanthus) Matcha Latte and it was super good. I ended up ordering a 2nd one before leaving. As someone who makes matcha lattes at home, their matcha is definitely a winner and has great color and richness. They also sell Rocky's Matcha here! This cafe is a hidden gem! I visited during the last week of December and tried their seasonal matcha latte with strawberry cream, paired with a Hokkaido cheesecake. Y'all... it's been a LONG time since I genuinely enjoyed a cup of matcha from a cafe... since I came back from Japan and started making matcha at home it's been hard for me to find a really good place that's noteworthy. Goodthing Coffee, you are doing all the right things! I found out about this place from TikTok (hate to say it, but it's brought me to a place I'll support endlessly), and it ended up being 2 minutes away from my house. Crazy, right! I was hesitant to come at first because I didn't want to be disappointed, so many cafes are offering matcha nowadays but not making it live up to the actual craft. But Goodthing Coffee's Urban Angel was FLAWLESS. 10/10 drink. Absolute wonderful creamy top, a pistachio matcha einspanner with topped pistachios and lovely strong matcha taste. I added vanilla syrup for an additional $.50 and don't regret a thing. The barista working today (a really nice fellow Asian sista) made it filled to the top and I loved it so much. I heard that consistency is a big thing here, and that the drinks' taste and quality really depend on the barista. Glad that I got her today on a slow Wednesday (2/5). Saw this new cute aesthetic cafe on social media and am so glad I got to check it out! They were unfortunately out of all of their einspanners when I went at 1pm on a Sat (which the worker told me was unusual) so I opted for the guihua oat latte and it was delicious! It was not too sweet and was perfectly floral-y from the guihua, and definitely gave me more energy for the rest of the day. They were also out of almost all of their desserts when I went, so next time I definitely want to try their einspanners and cakes and Dubai chocolate cookie. There was very limited seating inside though and the space was pretty tight, and when I went it was very busy so it felt cramped as I was waiting for my drink and I had to enjoy it outside. Oh Goodthings... why are you so incredibly overpriced? Urban Angel is my go to. I would come way more often if you weren't so expensive. After changing the milk in my drink to oat, it's now $9.50. Are the drinks good? Yes. But with all the ice, it's really not that much drink. The pistachio einspanner is my usual order from this cafe. The cream on top is fluffy, perfectly sweet and they give a considerable amount per drink. The ambiance is invitingly simple and makes for a great spot for working on your laptop or reading a book. I would say that pricing is quite expensive: $8 for probably a 12 oz einspanner but it is in Burlingame so be mindful of this when visiting this place. read more

overall 4.5/5 woke up way early cus of jet lag and saw there was a new coffee shop in burlingame! i came maybe 15-20 after opening on a Saturday and no lines or anything! **as a note none of their lattes are pre sweeten, but there is a simple syrup on the other side where you grab your cap so you can add what you'd like if sweet is what you prefer pistachio einspanner: 5/5, CREAM TOP IS AMAZZZING, i did have to add a b it of sweetener to the latter underneath as is wasn't sweet at all but i'd come back for the cream top anyday matcha latte: 3/5, was okay prob wouldn't get again dubai chocolate cookie: 1/5, this was so dry like sahara desert dry and the filling is on top (not inside), PLUS it was $7, like i think that's a little outrageous for what that is matcha yuzu & hokkaido cake: 4/5, though these cakes were amazing paying $11 for a little slice feel a bit price for me. $8 would be fair but $11 seems like robbery so i docked a point for that! if you got the funds tho, you should def try it ! read more

This review is long overdue! I had the pleasure of visiting during their soft opening back in October and usually for soft openings you give grace as business are ironing out the kinks- but Good Thing had all the good things going and didn't miss a beat. Inside was clean, comfortable, and quiet... for now... i have no doubts it will grow in popularity. They also had a beautiful assortment of baked items, one of the owners, is an incredibly talented baker. Next time I stop by I will definitely be trying both the Hokkaido and Matcha Cheesecakes. For beverages, i believe this drink is now discontinued but I got the Matcha Einspanner which came iced- and I'm not usually an Iced drink girlie unless it's boba- BUT the soft cream topping on this drink was everything and the matcha was delicious. My cousin got the coffee version of the same drink and it was equally as enjoyable. I'm not up in the Peninsula very often, and haven't found many quality coffee shops in that area, but @goodthing.coffee definitely ticks that box and will now be somewhere I'd make a lil detour too. read more

Came back here on accident, thinking I haven't been here but I have once and didn't like the coffee. I thought I'd try it again since it's been awhile and they have new pastries like the Hokkaido yuzu matcha cheesecake and the Dubai chocolate cookie. The coffee menu is pretty simple and basic. Only 8 choices for coffee and 1 tea option which is a matcha latte. I wanted to try their matcha latte this time but it was sold out, so I opted for the pistachio einspanner and the cortado for my friend. My friend enjoyed his cortado, but the pistachio einspanner was only good visually. Make sure to mix the drink fully or else you'll just get the cream on top or the coffee in the middle. The star of this order would have to be the yuzu matcha. The two flavors paired really well together and the matcha isn't bitter. I was really sad with the Dubai chocolate cookie. The cookie was hard and dry. Your mouth left you feeling like you needed to drink something after. The "pistachio kunafa" part I thought would be the filling but they barely put anything on top and it didn't even taste like anything? Definitely not coming back. read more

When a new coffee shop moved into the space formerly occupied by Cafe Siete I knew I wanted to give it a try. Reading the article in SF Chronicle made me even more curious. This time we only tried drinks, as I didn't want cheesecake for breakfast. My matcha latte was lukewarm and tasted average. My companion enjoyed the espresso shot but said it was the most expensive he's seen, even by Bay Area standards. The atmosphere was definitely buzzy. Came here after seeing the yelp page and I thought the place was really cute and the drinks and desserts looked good. I wanted to order the matcha latte. I wanted to know which matcha they use since on their instagram they mention they serve marukyu koyamaen, ippodo, and nakamura tokichi. So when I got to the store and asked what matcha they use, the man arbitrarily pointed towards the direction of the matcha containers and said "that one". Which doesn't really help in telling the customer what matcha. After asking a bit more, I found out that the matcha they had for the day was marukyu koyamaen isuzu. So their matcha powder changes depending on what they have in stock. Which is I guess fine as it's not a specialty matcha shop and rather more of a coffee shop. However I think they should mention at least what the matcha of the day is, or have a better answer ready for a customer that wants to know what matcha they serve without the customer needing to ask multiple follow up questions. Especially if they are using that as a selling point like what they promote on their instagram page.
