Hello everyone, I called in Palo Alto Gopher trapping services. They came in, inspected my yard, identified gopher tunnel entry points and laid traps inside the mouths of gopher tunnels and closed them with soil. Jaime was a thorough professional, took him less than 10 mins, came by two weeks later and asked me if i had seen any activity. I said no. He seemed pretty confident that he may have caught a few. He started removing the traps and sure enough he had caught two gophers. One in my front yard and one in the back. He removed all traps, disposed the remains and buried all holes. I used Clark Pest Control for almost two years. If I was lucky, they would catch one gopher every several months. It got to the point that they were putting ~30 traps in my yard, but still didn't catch anything while I could clearly see that there's new and extensive gophers' activity. I have used Jaime and his associate Carlos multiple times and would recommend them highly. They are very knowledgeable, friendly, and thorough. Once you see surface mound activity, they will spend time locating the tunnels and setting traps in both directions, since one never knows which direction the gopher will be traveling. Then, they will typically return in one or two weeks to check the traps and dispose of the gopher they have invariably caught. So the gopher trapping pros do a good job with what they do. However their communication leads a lot to be desired. If you have animals (dog/cats) that dig, you will have to do your own coverage of where they put the traps to protect the animals. My dogs actually dug up a trap and I let them know--they didn't seem to care. Also they expect to just text you that someone will be coming one day and to leave the gate unlocked, and don't understand that for personal safety and safety of animals and themselves around animals--that they need to tell you when they will be there or a time window at least so you can put animals inside. I knew something was not right when I saw "tracks or tunnels" under the earth, but I chose to ignore it thinking it was the dogs in the neighborhood. But one day I was taking care of my plants and I stepped on something and heard "Eeekk! At that point I knew I needed someone to come out and help. Had no idea what I had and had no idea who to call. Called a few people and then figured out I needed a rodent/gopher trapper. Looked on NextDoor and Yelp and found a few companies. I promptly called a few companies. Jaime was able to come that very day and was on time. He explained everything that he does and what he saw on my landscaping, and I hired him on the spot! I really didn't care too much about the price as long as it was reasonable--and it was. AND I didn't want to hear Eeek again. He set out about 10 traps with blue flags and said he would be back in about two weeks. After two weeks he came back and said he caught two voles/moles? (they sound sooo much alike) asked if I wanted to see them and I said no, then yes. I saw two dead animals. He said that would probably be all that I had but kept the traps in and would come back in another two weeks. I had him check the rest of the landscaping and he showed me areas that had moles in the past but no longer and stated he didn't see any more signs of animals. Finally he came for his traps and again I asked him to check for more signs of voles and he didn't see any more signs of animals. I got the bill via paper mail (which is fine for me) and I paid exactly what he quoted. Overall, he was great. He came on time, stuck to his quote and managed to find and remove several animals. Yelp has come through again with a great referral. Originally, a neighbor via NextDoor recommended Jaime. These reviews reinforced what she had said. I realized I had a gopher issue a few weeks ago. I tried all types of "home remedies": pouring coffee grinds into a hole, castor oil into the hole, and even let my 60 pound dog do his intimidation act. Nothing worked. I hated the thought of killing any animal, even a rodent, even a buck- toothed critter who probably needed braces. Havoc continued. My yard started to look like it was having a bad hair day. Torn up grass and shredded plants had become the new normal. Jamie was great. He came out the day after I spoke to him; put down a few traps (no poison) and came back two days later, where he reported he found two gophers. He then put down some more traps and said he'd be back in a few weeks and if there were no more gophers, I was fine. We'll see what happens when the two weeks is up. So far, no more activity since he caught the two. As others have commented, Jaime is exceedingly pleasant, responsive and knows what he is doing. It was a pleasure working with Jaime and his employee. The employee came out during Covid-19 and I didn't need to speak to him face-to-face. He just planted the traps in the front yard and came back twice to remove the gophers and I was told he caught three of them. Now the lawn doesn't look like the surface of the moon. Happy to support a local small business owner! I called Jaime when getting quotes for the dirt mounds that showed up on my front lawn. His rate was very reasonable and to his credit, he showed up the same day I called, as he happened to be in the area. (He also said I could pay him at the end of the service since I couldn't get home in time to meet him... wow!) Within 24 hours of the initial service call, the dirt mounds stopped appearing. It's been a week since my initial call and he came by today to check on the traps. In checking the traps he found a 5" gopher. Way to go! He answered all of my questions and seems like a really good guy. He's going to stop by another time to make sure all gophers/moles have been trapped. Woke up one morning and discovered mounds of dirt in our backyard. Had no idea if these were gopher mounds or moles or voles, so did a Yelp search and found Gopher Trapping Pros. Highly recommend Jaime and his business. We have used his services on and off for a little over a year. When we have a problem, he or his employee comes by quickly, sets traps in places I didn't even realize was activity, and comes by a week or 2 later to check the traps. I recently finished a construction project in my backyard and planted a ton of beautiful flowers. One day my Gerber Daisy was just laying on the dirt with the stem entirely gone! I noticed some piles - actually my dog did of gopher holes. I did a lot of research trying to find a company to just get rid of the gophers. I honestly did not have any interest in rehoming them. They were just become somebody else's problem that way. I called and made an appointment and they came over all the way from the Southbay. I was super impressed with that. Anyway, Carlos laid some traps down for me after doing some expert go for detection and sure enough, we caught several. They came over to clean and change the traps/reset them and we caught another one. They came out three times and since then, we have had no gophers.
