    Steak sandwich with carrot fries
    Edmond C.

Steak Street is off to a great start! I stopped by on a Friday evening before closing and there was a couple in there trying their steak. I was on my way to another stop and wanted to grab a bite before any night forays. Steak Street is a very clean spot in a business centric part of Midtown. They must be doing brisk business by day, because there were no more paper menus left this Friday evening. I took pictures of the menu from the front glass to the store. I ordered the steak sandwich with an order of carrot fries and a bottle of water. The reasonable total was around $25. The owner was there and he has good people skills. My order came up within about five minutes. Your order is made fresh to order and is not precooked or staged. It comes with a disposable ramekin of garlic aoli and another ramekin of Peter Luger's Steaksauce. I found the garlic aoli paired well with the steak sandwich. The thinly sliced steak was allowed to crisp or caramelize on the edges, but was not overcooked or dry. There are plenty of grilled onions and melted provolone, so this eight inch steak hero is not dried out. The garlic aoli was in harmony with the sandwich. I found the garlic aoli did not benefit the carrot fries as much as the Peter Luger's Steaksauce amped up their flavor. I was confused by the steaksauce, detecting the aroma of horseradish one finds in cocktail sauce, but also the Worcestershire one finds in steaksauce, while the overall effect gave barbecue. The net effect was to highlight the carrot in the fries. The carrot fries alone taste like sweet potato fries. The garlic aoli fell flat on my palate, but that Peter Luger's Steaksauce somehow highlights the carrot taste and it all comes together nicely. I asked the owner what that sauce was after the fact and he told me it's the Peter Luger's Steaksauce. It all made sense after he told me. I am interested in having the steak frites next time and this is a very return worthy place and does not seem part of a chain. Four returnworthy stars!

Steak was burnt (many hard bits). Portion small for $18. Was looking forward to it when I went in, but I won't be back.

We got to have our dinner in the dining room which was so much nicer and peaceful than the bar area, which I also wouldn't have minded but it was too noisy for a relaxed evening. Service was wonderful and very accommodating! I also loved all the monkey decor, it really tickled me every time we spotted a different monkey haha. We started with the truffle monkey bread! It was so good! For my entree, I got the miso cod, buttery mashed potatoes and a coconut margarita which were all amazing! We even got a complimentary dessert for our anniversary which was a salted caramel ice cream with a candle! We also ordered a banana split for fun and we loved it. I would definitely come back even in the bar dining area because I want to try everyone else's food recommendations! 10/10!

The bread was perfectly soft and paired really well with the cheese, truffle and butter it came with. The crab cakes were delicious, crispy and well seasoned. For mains we shared the cheeseburger, steak frites and prime rib French dip. All three dishes were great and all the meat was cooked perfectly medium rare for us. Finally for dessert we had the chocolate pie which we all loved. It was the perfect way to end the meal. If you're able to get a res here I think it's well hyped!

But to my surprise, the host was able to seat me at their community table within just a couple of minutes. What a relief! Now, onto the important part -- the food. I started with a ginger lime soda, which was refreshing and the perfect way to kick things off. For my appetizer, I went with the whipped ricotta, and wow, it was creamy, light, and absolutely divine. For my main course, I ordered the chicken parmesan with homemade vodka sauce-doused pasta, and it did not disappoint. The chicken was perfectly cooked, the sauce was flavorful, and the homemade pasta elevated the whole dish to another level. Everything was absolutely fabulous. The whole time I was eating, I kept watching the waiters bring out dish after dish from the kitchen, and honestly, everything looked incredible. I was kicking myself for coming solo -- I wish I had been there with a group so we could have ordered more and shared! This is definitely a place you want to come to with friends so you can try a little bit of everything. I also have to shout out the service -- it was fast and attentive without ever being pushy. My server checked in at all the right moments and never made me feel rushed. It's that perfect balance where you feel well taken care of but can still enjoy your meal at your own pace. The ambiance is really fun and cool without being pretentious or overly trendy. I never felt out of place, which I really appreciated. It's the kind of spot where you can dress up or keep it casual and still feel right at home. One small note -- the lighting is on the darker side, so if you're someone who is sensitive to dim lighting, just be aware of that. Personally, I thought it added to the vibe. And can we talk about the prices? For New York City, this place is surprisingly reasonable, especially for Midtown. You're getting high-quality, delicious Italian food without the sticker shock that so many NYC restaurants come with. Bottom line: La Pecora Bianca is delicious, welcoming, and well-priced. I will absolutely be back -- and next time, I'm bringing friends.

We arrived at 5:30pm on a weekday for our reservation and to my surprise, almost every table was taken! They have a few locations throughout the city but the menus are more or less the same. I started with a Hugo Spritz which was light & refreshing but not the best I've had. We shared a Margherita Neopolitan Style Pizza which had a super thin & tender crust, fresh tomatoes and basil, and delicious cheese. Pretty solid start! The Whipped Ricotta was somehow better and I absolutely loved the creaminess of the ricotta along with the truffle honey. The Crispy Brussels Sprouts were charred beautifully and was a nice vegetable to have on the table. Even the Zucchini Fries were so well-made! They could be "prettier" but the flavor and crunch is definitely there. The rigatoni was so fantastic but the chicken parm itself could have been crispier and more seasoned. We ended with the Tiramisu for Two which is easily feeds 4 people. This is an absolute must to end the meal! I can see why this spot is so popular and glad I finally got to pop my LPB cherry!
