This place has the best AYCE Korean BBQ!!! You must go if you are in the area. They have multiple beef options as well as chicken, pork and seafood (squid/shrimp). There is also many sides to choose from, their dubokki was amazing...slightly crunchy and soft in the inside while being covered with gochujang sauce. They usually flip the meats for you if you don't know the cooking times etc.. you can only order about 3-4 meats at a time, but remember it's a lot so be careful! I like this place because they have a variety of side dishes, ranging from various types of soup, noodles, rice, and veggies. We LOVE coming here! One of our favorite spots for Korean BBQ. In addition to the 'all you can eat meat' they have a cold buffet of various side dishes to complement your meal, including soup, rice, noodles, veggies, etc. Services deserves 5 out of 5. Everyone works together, beyond attentive, and are friendly. Other Korean BBQ places, will chase you if you don't tip them enough- even if their service is sub-par. But here, they are well deserving of a generous tip and would never chase someone out. Food is great! They have solid options. If you would like to try something, you can ask for a small portion, so you don't waste it, incase you don't like it. Parking- Some parking in the lot but mostly street parking. Out of all the Korean AYCE BBQ joints in the area, Gorilla is by far the best. For context, my boyfriend and I are meat lovers and we have been to most of them in the area (all the reputable ones, anyway). Here's what differentiates Gorilla from the rest (in order of importance): 1. Meat quality, variety, and cooking speed: No, you will not get A+ quality meat here (for that, go to Hanam BBQ in NJ or Samwon Garden in NYC) but the quality at Gorilla and the options they offer are solid. The meat cooks pretty quickly too - allowing you to consume as much as possible in one sitting, for better or for worse. P.S. And thankfully, they do NOT serve old meat (shame on you Cast Iron II). 2. Value: Pricing is pretty much similar for AYCE places ($28-30pp) but Gorilla offers an AMAZING cold bar that will tempt you to fill up on things other than meat - think rice, noodles, veggies, and fried foods galore. 3. All the typical things you look for - service, atmosphere, drinks, etc. Gorilla's got it all. No complaints. Save your $ and stomach -skip the other AYCE places and head to Gorilla. 4/5! AYCE KBBQ at Gorilla Grill was excellent. Pretty nice selection of meats and included side dishes, as well as reasonably priced additional sides. The pork galbi (pork rib) was definitely the best with a sweet bbq marinade. They gave us a generous helping of bulgogi, too (as some KBBQ places or AYCE will usually still give your a decent portion per order, but allows room for additional ordering). The steamed egg was also delicious, too. The cheese corn also cooks or heats up on the grill, which I never saw before but make its extra hot and melty. *Gorilla Grill has a decent space so they can accommodate and adhere to the safety of the COVID19 policies spacing guests apart. Staff wears masks and gloves. Also, came here after a big winter storm, so there were hardly any people, which was good for social distance and service. read more

I've been a super BIG fan of Cast Iron Pot for over a year now (been there 6 times) and always 9.5/10 stars. This Gorilla Grill opened up some months ago and of course I had to try this out. 1st try = BIG dissapointment Here's my breakdown on Gorilla Grill vs Cast Iron Pot visitor greeting = 4/10 vs 10/10 interior = 6/10 vs 9.5/10 cooking speed = 3/10 vs. 8/10 quality = 8/10 vs. 9.5/10 quantity = 5/10 vs. 10/10 server's cheerfulness = 1/10 vs. 9.8/10 server's speed status = 3/10 vs. 9.5/10 included buffet 1/10 vs N/A (Cast Iron Pot doesn't have it) Other notes: Gorilla Grill uses Volcanic slate to cook meat and it takes a very very long time to cook, plus, all the fat stays because the stone is FLAT. Cast Iron Pot's dome shape cooking style is much much more efficient - cooks much faster, and, the fats drips down. The included buffet was super super low quality and totally unappetizing !!! And by all I mean every kind of meat, seafood, side dish, and customer service at a competitive price of $17 for weekday lunch and $28 for dinner/weekends! Here are 5 reasons for why I will be coming back to Gorilla and why you should check it out! 1. MEAT: Variety and quality are Gorilla's strengths and why they top the list of AYCE BBQ. Not only do they have the standard chaddeol, chicken, steak, but they also have LA Galbi - an item that is currently NOT offered at Cast Iron. 2. Not a meat eater? No worries. Gorilla BBQ has shrimp, clams, and marinated squid which are all equally delicious. 3. Grill: Let's talk about this grill and how it cooks your food perfectly. This is my brutally honest review. My family and I came in right before 6, which is the awkward time right before the dinner rush. Keep in mind we have a restless toddler with us. We started with the galbi, bulgogi, and spicy pork. We complained a bit that the service was a little slow, my son was getting restless and the galbi was tough and chewy. After scoping out the situation we come to realize that they had two servers to handle the whole section which was a real order. After our complaints there two servers went above and beyond to make sure we didn't get tough meat, they cut everything up just nicely. We felt bad that they were understaffed and we complained. The pork jowl...top notch. Spicy pork also top notch. Everything was on point. I can't speak enough about the service. The price to quality ratio is hard to beat. Came here for lunch (though they charged dinner pricing because it was Black Friday?) and that immediately annoys me. It's not a "holiday" or a "weekend" so any business that automatically decides to screw the customer gets dinged. 1 star taken off for this scam and 1 for the food. Now on to the food. Their meat cuts are good to average. The cooking was off as some of the food was overcooked and everytime I tried to help, the guy would come over and undo it. But he was very sweet and friendly so I have no issues there. The good: oyster mushrooms, all their dipping sauces, pork galbi, steamed egg, steak, bulgogi. The average: pretty much the other meats. Pork belly was essentially a link of bacon, not impressed. The poor: their seafood. Squid was chewy and felt frozen. And that really bites because the only difference between lunch and dinner pricing is the seafood. Go figure! Bottom line: it's a good spot, very clean and decent food. But IMO, cast iron pot is superior. YMMV. read more

It's alright. Friendly staff, but the meats were... subpar. Over marinated... super sweet and super salty... not a great flavor. Rice cakes also had weird sauce .. super strange. We got the beef bulgogi and marinated steak has a tacky strong flavor that was just not great in our opinion. Also got beef brisket and pork belly which was ... decent. I had Korean BBQ for the first time here recently and I absolutely loved it. We had pork, soy garlic chicken and beef bulgogi with grapefruit soju. The bulgogi was my favorite and I wish they had brought that out first. It was well marinated and when cooked had a sweet savory flavor that delighted my tastebuds. Everything was delicious though and the soju was so smooth and actually tasty (and I hate the taste of alcohol). I was beyond stuffed by the time we left. We celebrated my hubby's bday with a large group on a Saturday at 5:30pm. The vibe was fun, funky, lounge-like with a huge tree of empty soju bottles. (Stay away if you are a lil buzzed!) The staff was phenomenal, accommodating, and very fast with bringing out the food to grill once everyone was settled in. The waiter cooked for us at both ends of the grill and did an amazing job ping ponging himself back and forth. We helped out with taking it out when it was ready since we were chatting a lot and couldn't keep up with eating it all. For both sides of our long table we had different cuts of beef, chicken, squid, shrimp, pork belly, cheesey creamed corn, egg souffléand mushrooms.There is a small buffet area for you to get the bonchon of kimchi, pickled veggies, lettuce, rice, etc... Each person will get a sauce variety of a salt and pepper mixture, pineapple sauce, and I believe a gochujang sauce? You are allowed to bring a birthday cake but you must assemble the candles yourself, next to the birthday boy lol since that is where the box was placed. We got pitchers of beer and bottles of wine for the group and the frozen glasses for the beer was a nice touch! Be careful turning the corner to walk towards the bathroom since the staff come out of their kitchen doorway and they are usually holding a lot of plates. Came here with a friend cuz we can't handle an all-American diet. Koreans need Korean food! I had never even heard of this place until my friend brought me. For $35 ayce, my mind was blown. Cast iron really had serious competish. I was blown away by the fact that the quality was far better than what I was used to for an ayce. You know ayce's are able to sustain such prices because they use inferior quality meats. But gorilla grill (while still not the best) exceeded my expectations and then some. Id highly recommend this to anyone who's on the kbbq prowl. The service was stellar. The place was not so crowded for a place that's so awesome. Just come. On a whim. Just because. I don't think you'll think it's a waste. Space reminds me of a more casual dong bang. read more

Came here on a Saturday, the restaurant wasn't packed or wasn't too busy, there were still a lot of empty tables but we waited for almost 20 minutes to be seated. The food was normal, wasn't really flavorful, the staff were friendly. Not sure if this was how they do the business but we felt like they kept grilling food and putting food in the plate even though they saw the plate was full of food, felt like being rushed to eat and get out. Been to a good amount of AYCE KBBQ restaurants but they didn't rush us or do something like this. And also the portion for every dish you order was too much that you couldn't taste other dishes that made me wasn't even in the mood to eat or to take some good food pictures. IMHO this is the best AYCE Korean BBQ in the area. The quality and selection of meat and seafood, level of service and attention, and the value is unbeatable. The best part is that through the pandemic, they have stayed top-notch. Their restaurant is large and spacious, which made us feel better about eating there. The staff follows all CDC protocols and this is one of the few places that ask you to sign in for contact tracing--which is a good thing. The servers are super attentive and you never have to wait long for refills and as we know, time is of the essence when eating out these days lol. We usually start off with brisket, beef belly and all things beef and then move onto pork belly and marinated meats like spicy pork and finish with spicy squid. Their sides are simple but tasty--make sure you get the amazing steamed egg--and their sauces are perfect for the meat. Pre-pandemic, they had an entire buffet for sides, and I'm not talking about filler banchan. It was legit Korean dishes like janchi guksu, jeon, bokkums, different types of kimchis, salads, japchae, etc. Everything tasted good. This might sound strange but their water and rice are tasty! Their water is cold, filtered and clean, which is important bc there's nothing like the taste of tap to bring down your meal. And their rice is freshly made, which is important too loll Trust us, I've been to places where this wasn't the case. Whenever we crave KBBQ, this is the place for us. Came here for lunch today. The place is next to the 159 bus stop. The place opened a few days ago. There is Korean pop music playing. I saw that they have TVs showing Spectrum News. Instead of using cast iron pots to grill meats on, they use volcanic​ stone grills. The food tastes better than the usual metal grills. Ordered premium chadol, enoki bacon, beef belly, clams, sausage, and beef chuck galbi. What I like about their meats is that everything is portioned and they use premium cuts. The dinner price is worth the cuts of meat. At the self-serve bar, there were rice for bibimbap, fried rice, congee, chicken, kimchi, salad, pancake, japchae, steamed egg, mackerel​, and fruits. It is included in the buffet. I would recommend people to come to the place. read more

A couple caveats: - I live in Manhattan, so any affordable AYCE KBBQ is a treat - I have not been to Cast Iron Pot (but I have been to many budget-friendly AYCE KBBQ spots across California and New York) - 90% of my meat orders at AYCE KBBQ consist of chadol (brisket) and samgyupsal (pork belly) All that said, I thought this place was SOLID. Cast Iron seems to be more commonly brought up amongst my friends, but they were closed so I came here instead and regretted nothing. As some other reviewers mentioned, they have a large space so we were seated well away from any other customers. Server was very friendly and accommodating (was proactive in asking about additional meat orders-- usually, AYCE restaurants do whatever they can to slow you down). Solid selection of meats and other side dishes like corn cheese, mushrooms, etc. NOTE: their dduk kkochi (rice cake skewers) are amazing. I got like 4 orders of this. read more

ACCESSIBILITY Street parking in this area isn't too difficult, even for a weekend night. You might not be right in front of the restaurant, but you wouldn't be more than a 5 minute walk away. During the peak of Saturday dinner, we did not wait more than 20 minutes. VIBE It's a casual KBBQ establishment. The staff were all wearing masks, and proper hygiene seems to be the standard. The HVAC was working great as well - your clothes won't smell of beef grease when you get home afterwards. FOOD & SERVICE The staff were pretty attentive, as they were with all the diners. The staff are definitely easier to reach during the non-peak hours, as far as ordering more food, or just checking on the grill, but that is par for the course for a KBBQ joint. The food itself was great, the marinated stuff was pretty bold in the soy & garlic, and the beef/pork was still tender and tasty. The food was cooked consistently across my multiple visits to this restaurant. The sides were good too, good enough to order multiple times during a single stay. They don't carry short rib (kalbi), so you'll have to get that elsewhere. Shrimp is a hit or miss, sometimes it's overly salty, but that might just be a product issue. YMMV. Must get items: brisket, sweet & spicy rice cake. VALUE At $30pp, it's not cheap, but it's the going price for AYCE KBBQ. Personally, Gorilla Grill is good for the value; you'll come hungry, and hopefully by the end, you won't want beef for another couple of days. read more

Great spot! A lot of food, attentive staff, and everything was delicious. We stopped in on a Thursday evening. We were seated immediately, the restaurant was not crowded. Our waiter came over and asked if we had been there before. We had not, so he explained how everything worked with the all you can eat and how to order. We ordered 4 different meats, cheese corn, mushrooms, rice cakes and fried dumplings. There was so much meat that we actually asked the waiter not to cook the 4th one.
