When you are in this part of Forest Hills, this nice, little family-run spot is a great place to get nicely-prepared cookies, breads, and pastries. For sure, I'll have to try a pretzel roll next time. Oh--and they have boba tea and other enticing beverages. I got a traditional cookie here today during my first visit. The cookie was huge and I ate it all because it wasn't too sweet and because the dough and filling were very good quality. I would be happy to sit at one of the tables in this peaceful spot, by myself or with a friend (got take-out today), though it's not upscale. For some reason I am a sucker for pretzels. I love a great pretzel. Often I find myself punished with horrible pretzels. They are a bakery with fresh pastries, bagels and their "famous" pretzel rolls. I ordered one plain and one with butter. The rolls had a great consistency but they were a little too salty. I tried to wipe some off but it was built in. I would defiantly go back. I am not sure a pretzel roll fulfills my pretzel cravings but they were certainly good. read more

But this morning I was in the mood for something different, the breakfast special seemed to fit the bill. One egg with your choice of ham, bacon or sausage on a roll, add .75 for American cheese. Just because there is no open flame cooking for the eggs had little bearing on purchasing a fair priced and good tasting breakfast sandwich. Glendale bake shop had been doing that for years, additionally the owner offered up the cook preparation, before getting to work on my order. Having open flame cooking requires a massive monetary investment to punch through to the 2nd floor, to the roof assuming you have the landlords permission. When speaking to the owner, I mentioned that I remember the prior business, which was called Hye Grocery. "That was 27 years ago" she offered with a kind smile "and I have been here ever since". That's an impressive amount of time for any business to survive. Add to the fact that Metropolitian avenue experiences the marginal foot traffic and food & beverage establishments do not have an extended shelf life on The Avenue, between Ascan Ave and 68th Avenue. read more

Nice people working here. They microwaved the egg sandwich, but they tell you beforehand. It was 7 in the morning and a lady with a cigarette was yelling at me outside, which made my trip there interesting and worthwhile. Then she walked inside and started yelling at them. I never really felt a need to share a review about delis before. I used to think all deli's were pretty much the same, but there is something different about this one. First off, the atmosphere is great, you can sit down and the entire deli is clean and neat. They make fresh sandwiches and have so much choices for cookies its unbelievable. I haven't even mentioned their fresh made daily Pretzel rolls and their bagels. Both made by the owners every morning. That is something to appreciate, instead of getting bulk ordered bagels from a third party. To top things off , everything was delicious, even their coffee tasted better. I highly recommend every yelper who live around here(hell, make a trip out there even if you dont live around the area), to grab your breakfast/lunch from this deli/bakery and you'll leave satisfied!! read more

And I DEFINITELY would not call this a deli..I asked for a bacon egg and cheese on a bagel and was charged 4.25(little pricy) and then they proceeded to prepare the whole sandwich in a microwave..they do not have a griddle for breakfast. FUC! 65 cents a piece for a soft, chewy, doughy, salty piece of heaven. just a bit smaller than the average steamed bun you'd find at an Asian bakery/restaurant, if you want a sense of scale. the name is pretty clear: there's tons of baked goods, and there's a breakfast/lunch deli menu. a few small tables and seats. it seems to be Metropolitan's answer to the small bakeries/cafes that dot Queens Bully. the coffee ain't bad either! $1.25 for a small. it was a notch better than the average deli coffee. Would give it zero stars if Yelp made it possible. Horrible customer service and I smelled BO in there. Waiting for 5 mins to try their bubble tea but both people working there didnt even ask for my order. One was sitting drinking coffee. The other was in front of the register only 3 feet away from me and when I said I would like a bubble tea she just looked at me like I wasnt there. 5 seconds later a caucasian person came in and bought a bottle of Gatorade and she was smiling and asked him if that was all he wanted to buy. A family owned business right on Metro - They get a decent amount of foot traffic. The owners (and the former owners) are always kind and helpful. Their food and pastries move quickly off their shelves. Of course we go for their egg sandwiches, pretzel rolls (yum) and bagels. If you have a special event and need something extra, they'll take take your pre-order. They get 4 stars because they only take cash - come on and update ur systems. read more

Bad news for me: Loved the hamentaschen (had the prune, but they also have apricot and raspberry). The cookie was buttery shortbread that broke off nicely (crumbly cookies sadden me). Do not go there unless you want to have your bagels made with unprofessional people who don't wear gloves and touch your bagels barehanded. Wear no masks unless handling food and when they wear gloves they reuse the same glove over and over the whole day God forbid you have an allergy they don't care. Most importantly don't bring your outside garbage in because the rude woman at the counter will tell you about yourself like the garbage was even changed. At 8am 2/3 full garbage and my small bag of garbage was really making it worse. She is very rude and the man is very lazy. I am a customer who comes three times a week and is never treated with respect but today was the last straw. My coworkers will know about what's going on and won't go there anymore. Dunkin donuts is a few doors down we won't be missing breakfast especially dealing with an attitude every time. Don't waste your time here! read more

My mom's been going to this place since I was a kid. One word THE PRETZEL ROLL. Every time I come back home, I make a social request for that thing. I can't say much about other food. I'm going to rate the bagels only.... Not real bagels. With all the bagel places in town that have great bagels, the ones here are barely passable. They have the best pretzel rolls here - actually, it's the only place I know that you can get them in the five boroughs. They have both salted and unsalted rolls; unsalted rolls keep longer. They sometimes have been known to run out, so if you want to try a few, get in early! Their sandwiches are huge and delicious, which makes me wonder how they make a profit on them. The first time I ordered one of their sandwiches I thought a mistake had been made. When they insisted that it was my sandwich, I instinctively asked "for meee?!", like a child who had just been given the best toy EVER!
