An Absolute Gem! This Buffet Shattered All My Expectations! Let me be perfectly honest: I walked into this place armed with a healthy dose of skepticism. Having browsed some of the less-than-stellar reviews, my expectations were cautiously low. But from the moment I stepped up to the first steaming tray, it was immediately clear that this wasn't your average, run-of-the-mill buffet. By the way, it was lunch and was 11:30 AM. Any preconceived notions I had were completely obliterated by the sheer quality and care evident in every single dish. The first thing you notice is the freshness--every ingredient tasted vibrant and recently prepared, with nothing sitting under a heat lamp for hours. The food wasn't just warm; it was gloriously, satisfyingly hot. The highlights? There were almost too many to count. · The Chicken Wings: Forget any soggy, buffet-wing trauma you may have. These were a masterclass in texture--impossibly crispy on the outside, while remaining supremely juicy and tender within. · The Baked Salmon: This was a showstopper. Each flaky, moist fillet was infused with a rich, buttery essence and a deep umami flavor that melted on the tongue. It was a dish worthy of a dedicated seafood restaurant. · The Fried Egg Rolls: A perfect crunch gave way to a savory, well-seasoned filling. No greasy aftertaste, just pure, crispy delight. · The Egg Drop Soup: So often an afterthought, here it was a star. A beautifully balanced broth that was both comforting and sophisticated. · The Sautéed Mushrooms: Absolutely divine. They were garlicky, savory, and cooked to a tender perfection that had me going back for a second (and third!) helping. In a world where buffets can be a gamble, this establishment is a sure bet. They have clearly made a commitment to quality, flavor, and freshness that is frankly exceptional. Do not let the mixed reviews deter you. My experience was nothing short of phenomenal, and I will undoubtedly be returning soon. This place isn't just a hit; it's a destination. The real test will be when I return to see if consistency holds true. Update: I went back a few days later because I was hungry and I was curious. Again, it did not disappoint. Food was just as good as it was a few days earlier my review stays the same. Great job grand buffet!

Food was barely Luke warm and mostly room temperature. Certain items like the pizza, French fries and things my kids like were rock hard like they had been sitting out under those heat lamps the entire day. We didn't dare try the sushi as it had a weird smell that made us nervous. They took out and no longer have the soft serve ice cream Machine which is a bummer cuz that was my kids favorite part. It was very very over priced and expensive and all 4 of us left completely grossed out and honestly still hungry but had no more money to go someplace else. Huge disappointment. We won't be going back.

I would give this place six stars if Yelp would let me. This visit was actually a few months ago, and I created a Yelp account specifically so I could finally write this review. Ever since we left, I've found myself thinking, "I really wish I had reviewed them." Eventually I realized that just because time had passed didn't mean I shouldn't. When a place leaves this much of an impression months later, people should know about it. We drove about 3 1/2 hours to Win-River Resort & Casino to see Chase Matthew in concert, and from the time we arrived until we left, every employee we interacted with was genuinely friendly and helpful. We arrived near the end of Sunday brunch. It wasn't an enormous casino buffet, but what it lacked in size it made up for in quality. They had pancakes, waffles, biscuits and gravy, an omelet station, and genuinely good fresh crab rather than the cheaper quality you often expect at a buffet. The chocolate and lemon cakes were great, but the fresh fruit compotes made them. Blueberry compote on the lemon cake and strawberry compote with the chocolate was perfect. But the best part of breakfast was the staff. Plates were cleared, drinks stayed full, and everyone was attentive without hovering. When an issue with my credit card took a while to straighten out, our waiter simply stood there talking and joking with me. Instead of making an embarrassing situation uncomfortable, he had me laughing about how banks do things like this. It was one of the best interactions I've had with a waiter in a long time. And it wasn't just him. The man at the casino information desk joked around with me when I got completely turned around trying to find the restaurant. The ladies at check-in took our bags even though we were hours early and held them until we returned after the concert. We were also the first group in line for the concert. Staff moved chairs from nearby machines and lined them up outside the venue so we could keep our place without blocking the doors or spending hours sitting on the floor. The venue was just off the non-smoking section, so we could wait comfortably without sitting in cigarette smoke but were still close enough to walk into the main casino if we wanted to. And this casino is CLEAN. Not just "there's no garbage on the floor" clean. There wasn't grime built up on the machines or dirt ground into the carpet. I haven't been to a huge number of casinos in California, but I've been to my fair share in Nevada, and this was one of the cleanest I've visited. The concert venue was equally clean, organized, and well staffed. Normally after an event you remember that one employee who was especially nice--or that one who wasn't. Here, every single person we encountered was friendly. After the concert, we went to our room and realized we were still hungry, so we headed back downstairs. It was late enough that the restaurant was serving a very limited menu, but after talking with the bartender/server, she made an exception and let us order several bar-food items from the regular menu that weren't available on the late-night menu. The food took a little while, but at that hour I'm guessing the kitchen may have been down to one person. When it arrived, the portions were HUGE. The garlic fries and cheese curds were probably three times the size we expected, and instead of the three decent-sized chicken tenders we expected, we got five. If anything, I felt bad about how much we couldn't finish. There was one downside. Our room was clean, the refrigerator had complimentary bottled water, and the shower had refillable shampoo, conditioner, and body wash that were more than adequate. Unfortunately, someone next door spent about four hours during the night banging on the wall at fairly regular intervals. Ironically, what made that so frustrating was how incredibly comfortable the mattress was. If the bed had been uncomfortable, I probably wouldn't have cared about the banging because I wouldn't have been sleeping anyway! Instead, I was lying in an incredibly comfortable bed knowing that without the noise next door, I would have gotten a genuinely great night's sleep. That was really the only negative part of our experience. I honestly have no real reason to ever be in Redding again, but I can say with certainty that if I ever find myself even within an hour of Win-River Resort & Casino, I'll go back. There aren't many places I'm still thinking about months later--and definitely not many that make me create a Yelp account just to tell other people how good they were.

I don't normally come to casinos that aren't in Nevada. We meet up around 8am and talk about business and we sit down in Seasons for breakfast. Looking over the menu it seems pretty normal American food. I go for the Chicken fried steak with home fries and scrambled eggs. I ask for lots of gravy on everything including the potatoes. My boss orders the same. Service is pleasant and efficient with the coffee refills. It's not too long and our food arrives. Wow, that's some good looking Chicken Fried Steak! For those of you that don't know, Chicken Fried Steak, isn't chicken, but it's beef, usually a Swiss steak cut that's been tenderized. They call it chicken, cause it's FRIED like a chicken with a batter. Usually deep fried. We both thought the breakfast was scrumptious, this was some of the best gravy I've had, not super gloppy but just thick enough. There was so much food I couldn't finish and took my leftovers back to go. It was a good meeting and breakfast was on the boss. I didn't ask if he won any money or not or if he lost ..... Oh, the inside of the casino is pretty typical mid sized casino decor. As long as the boss is happy, I'm happy!

I used to come here more often when there were fewer sushi options in and around Redding, but now that there are more choices available, I don't see myself returning as frequently. The sushi doesn't stand out enough for me to justify the higher price compared to other options nearby. That being said, the staff is truly wonderful. They're friendly, welcoming, and genuinely great people. The ambiance of the restaurant is also a highlight. I especially love the sushi boat presentation--it's such a unique dining experience and adds a fun element to the meal. They advertised the sushi boat service on their door, but did not have it during the time window they posted. I had no expectations for great sushi and thought I'd get "ok" sushi here. Instead, It was memorable only for how bad it was. The tuna (maguro) was awful. It was inedibly grainy and did not slightly spring back when touched with gentle pressure--the sign of either low quality fish, or lack of freshness. It is also the common bright pink gassed fish--not a sign of quality. I wouldn't feed this to my cat. I ate one piece of fish without rice. The texture was grainy and gross. I figure it was a fluke and tried another piece before spitting it out. Hard pass. The salmon roe sushi was also off, and inedible. The egg sushi was water-logged and not good. Finally, their chef does not know how to make proper sushi rice. The rice should be sweet with a hint of tartness, both in balance with the rice. No harmony here--it was just slightly tart. When I complained that it was inedible the server was suspiciously defensive insisting it was "fresh." If that's true, it was not good fish from a reputable vendor. If you want sushi and you're in Redding, go to Kobe or Raw.

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and quantity of the food at a relatively inoffensive price. I can't say much on the atmosphere of the place--it's slightly secluded from the open floor of the casino, but you can still smell the cigarettes that the patrons smoke. Outside of that, it is clean and well-lit, albeit nondescript. It also isn't a large space, so seating can be limited. The service was very helpful and friendly, but the food did take a little longer to come out than I had expected, especially given we visited at a time where over half the restaurant was unoccupied.
