We came in pretty early, near 3:45 so most of the restaurant was empty. The hostess seemed preoccupied with something else, I don't know. It came off as slightly rude. The decor was fine, but it did need to be cleaned, much of the decor seemed old. Samosa - 7.5/10 Fried well, very pillowy in the inside. Slightly greasy. Comes with two dipping sauces, one dark and one green. The green tastes like cucumber and strong of cardamon, while the dark has hints of ginger and is sweet. I enjoy the samosas, very pillowy potato inside. Great texture. Butter Chicken - 8/10 Very nice and sweet tomato taste from the sauce. The chicken is cooked well, nice and juicy. Compliments the rice very well. Chicken Korma - 7/10 Very sweet and nice coconut flavor. The sauce pairs well with the chicken, adding a depth of flavor. Though I like the butter chicken more. Butter Naan - 6.5/10 Very strong garlic flavor, a bit too much for me but my gf really liked it. Nice pillowy texture. Rice - 6/10 Nice a fragrant rice, it tasted fine by itself but it definitely needed the sauce from the butter chicken and chicken korma. read more

Located in a strip mall, we walked into an empty restaurant at 3:15. Waitress is extremely friendly and attentive. Another group for a meal walked in after us. The food was tasty but I do believe it is not a good value for the cost. The servings are a nice size and they come with rice but no vegetables nor do I think there is not much meat in a dish. I ordered a vegetarian dish and it truly was most sauce and few vegetables, peas, small bits of carrots, maybe lima beans, tofu and another vegetable but certainly not $18 worth. When we walked in, it looked like we were going to be the third table during that time. The girl sitting at the bar area was on her phone and didn't notice us until the man at the bar asked her if she didn't realize we were standing there after quite some time. She jumped up and apologized and immediately sat us down and was pretty apologetic. The food was good, but the portions were small for the price that we paid. I really enjoyed the sauces that came with the samosas, and the filling was well spiced. My fiance got the butter chicken, and we appreciated that it was made with dark meat. It was very tender. The sauce was good, but it didn't taste as creamy and sweet as I personally would like for it to be. The saag paneer was just okay. It didn't really have that much saag at all, which was disappointing. The spinach sauce was nice, but it didn't have much spice to it. It just tasted like basic creamed spinach. I don't think I would come back based on the quality of the food for the price point. It wasn't a bad meal, but it also wasn't anything memorable either. Went had a craving for some lamb naans and they never disappoints! service is always so fast!

Hot weather always makes me crave Indian food, so I was excited to see that, in the 15 years since I left, Redding has "expanded" its cultural cuisine. The food was ordered through Door Dash and the well-packaged meal (styrofoam) was delivered quickly and hot. We ordered vegetable pakoras, plain naan, chicken tikka masala, and gulab jabun and paired it with a California Riesling (also delivered). The chicken tikka masala chicken was tough and dry, but the sauce was flavorful. The naan was fresh in its chewy crisp goodness. The pakoras are heavy handed on the chickpea batter and spices, but I liked it. I didn't think you could mess up gulab jabun. It tastes like store-bought stale plain donut holes drowned in watered-down honey and sprinkled with McCorrmick cardamom. I'm giving 3 stars because the protein was uneatable and the massive portion of rice wasteful. I don't know if it's because of rising inflation, but this Indian restaurant is the most expensive I've patronized within an 8-hour driving area. Pretty ridiculous. read more

I am quite shocked this restaurant is still in business an hasn't been shut down by the health department. This restaurant is absolutely FILTHY! My partner and I thought we'd give it a try having never been there before. Walking in, it's dingy. We were seated at a table directly next to a fish tank that was full of water that hadn't been changed in God knows how long, it stunk and it was very unappealing to look at. I got up to use the restroom and had to pass the kitchen to get there, the door was propped open with two chairs where you could see in and the floors were DIRTY littered with food, dirt - that floor hadn't been mopped in months. The bathroom was also dirty, the floors were littered with debris, and hadn't been swept or mopped it was so grimy. At this point, I was not comfortable ordering and/or eating here and we walked out - GROSS! How can you run a restaurant like that and have it so dirty it was disgusting. AND with the prices ranging $20/per plate there is no excuse for this. We will not be going back. read more

I would give negative stars if I could. Ordered with couple of friends. 1) Terrible service: The lady taking order was rude and kept referring us to delivery company. Delivery company kept sending us to restaurant. After couple of back and forth the lady at restaurant rudely told us that only pick up is available. So we ordered pick up. 2) Terrible food: Biryani and Navratna korma were mish mash of canned food stirred up. Navratna korma had no taste at all. Biryani was more of terrible version of pulao. We had to order raita separately and it was extremely sour. The curry of malai kofta was sour, not sure what were they trying to cook. Tandoori paneer tikka was supposed to be tandoori dish, but it was literally stir fried with a ton of oil, some sweet and sour sauce with veggies. Aaloo paratha were made of corn floor(yikes). Worst Indian food experience. Would not recommend this place ever. read more

We're not sure about the other reviews, but it appears that most dissatisfactions are related to customer service or interactions. To some that may be important but in my opinion, this is a private owned restaurant. They don't have to adhere to the typical 'rules' or 'requirements' of the mainstream chain restaurants, such as fake smiles and greetings. That's actually more insulting than anything. The food speaks for itself. We're originally from the Concord/Walnut Creek area. I'm just up here because of my job. We've found some good restaurants in our old area but this place is unbelievably great. They don't use heavy oil in their cooking and they don't over-season anything. We are thoroughly happy with the food and highly recommend this spot. As long as I'm mobilized here, we'll keep going back. I wish there were more stars to select. read more

I've been enjoying the Taj Mahal for quite sometime, but this afternoon was perfect. I was so hungry from a full morning of shopping, paying bills and physical therapy. My body was hollow. I remember from past meals here, the servings are huge... I figured I'd be carting the left overs home. I ordered the Chicken Korma SPICY! Perfect white rice with green garnish and a rich and delicious sauce accompanied by tender chunks of seasoned chicken. Melted in my mouth. I took twice as long to eat it than normal, savoring every flavor. I didn't get too heated, just a small mist of forehead sweat. I didn't take anything home, it was too good to save for later. There was only one other person dining at 1pm today. Come into this place and discover how amazing the cuisine is... every time I've eaten there. read more

Disclaimer: I am Indian and not from this area. My coworkers and I were in this area for work and saw the high reviews and decided to check it out. This food was mediocre at best. I did not think they had the right flavors for indian food at all. My Paneer Tikka was sweet?? I don't think any Indian entree is supposed to be sweet. I also specified that I wanted my dish to be spicy and it most definitely was not. My dish was very oily as well. My coworkers tried the lamb curry, chicken curry, and chicken vindaloo. The consistency and the colors of all their dishes were completely off. They looked very paste like instead of the saucey consistency they are supposed to be. I did not try any of these dishes since I am a vegetarian however they did mention that they tasted like tomato sauce mostly. We were also not given nearly enough naan and rice for our dishes. The service was pretty friendly, and the establishment was clean, but the food taste was not there. Overall I would not recommend, and most definitely will not be returning. read more

I ordered food through Entree Express and they sent a full to the brim order of butter chicken. It was in a flimsy tin. When I got home the tin started to bend and I could not stop it. The food ended up all over my floor and all over the walls. The restaurant would do nothing about this situation. I guess I get that it isn't their 'fault' but I did not feel it was necessarily mine as I just 'assumed' the container could be carried from the door to my table. I also ordered garlic naan bread. The garlic was raw and the bread was slightly burned it was not good. I am super disappointed. For what was supposed to be a $40 treat... I ended up with nothing. read more
