    It's been a year since I've back. Friends and I came in for lunch. We ordered a few dishes to share. My fave was the free range chicken stir fried with peppers. The chicken is tender and nice flavors. It's perfectly cooked with a bit of spicy kick to it. We also ordered sweet and sour pork and a veggie dish.

    This place brings back the goodness of Cantonese cuisine from the east coast which you rarely find in California. The food was fantastic and tasted amazing. Great staff, very clean establishment and the price was very reasonable. I highly recommend this restaurant and I find it to be the best Cantonese restaurant in the Bay Area.

    Our family's go to spot for dinner! We often come were monthly when we are craving their fried pork chops and shrimp and egg chow fun! So good, everything always comes out fast and hot! Service is always on point, the staff are always so welcoming and friendly!

    I absolutely love a good HK cafe and this was no different! Nothing beats a solid plate of beef chow fun, with the crunchiness of the bean sprouts, and the smooth, slippery texture of the rice noodles, to the soft and tender beef slices to the delicious wok hay char flavor that can only be accomplished by cooking in a wok over a high flame. I settled on my go to this time, the bbq pork over rice. It is my ultimate comfort food and Grand cafe does it really well. The bbq pork was glowing in a glistening hue that I just could not resist. It had a sweet glaze and the pork itself had a nice soft, yet chewy texture to it. The rice was no different. It was coated with the glaze from the bbq pork and each bite was nothing but heavenly, sweet grains entering the taste buds. I would love to come back to eat this dish several more times!

    Bunched among other restaurants near the shopping outlet mall in Dublin, Grand Cafe delivers on quality Cantonese Chinese food. Pretty busy on a Friday night and parking was a bit of a challenge in the small parking lot in the strip mall. Once we got in though, we were still seated quickly, given hot tea and ice water right away, and had our order taken fast. Service was attentive and generally friendly. We tried three dishes this time: -Beef chow fun: went gravy style and it was delicious, with pillowy rice noodles, beef that was tender and not over-tenderized, and crispy sautéed bok choy. Serving size was good too. -Mushroom medley with Japanese tofu: good mix of different types of mushrooms and hockey puck-shaped custardy tofu that were tasty and perfect over rice -Chicken and Chinese sausage clay pot: nostalgic dish for us that didn't completely hit the mark. Flavors were on point but the chicken and overall dish were on the dry side. On the higher price side for Cantonese food even for the Tri-Valley area, but the portions were a good size and will come back to explore other menu items.

    We stopped here on the way out of Bay Area after visiting the outlets. Grand Cafe is one of several Cantonese restaurants in the area. They are your typical HK style cafe with the usual Cantonese offerings like chowmein or chowfun, congee, rice noodle rolls. Only a few parking spots in front of the restaurant. But, they are plenty of spaces if you walk a little. Service was good. We ordered a congee and a seafood braised noodle. The food came out quickly. The portion size was big, but so was the price. Both the congee and noodle dish had plenty of ingredients inside it. The taste was good. My wife and I probably could've shared one entree instead of ordering 2. It was so good that we took the leftovers with us (we never do when we are traveling). Grand Cafe was a good find for us We might be back if in the area during lunchtime.

    This is a huge plaza full of things like target and boba so if you can't find parking in the immediate area, just go across the parking lot and there's PLENTY of parking. I came here for my grandmas birthday with 2 full tables and they were really good about getting us a table on a Saturday night. Be prepared to wait a bit but the food is worth it. They're known for their wonton noodles which is super smooth with the right amount of savory in the soup and right amount of protein (wontons) with the carb that is in the form of noodles. If you're a spicy person, I suggest mixing in their chili oil for an extra kick. They also have this crab dish that they're famous for that I highly recommend. It is crab with sticky rice (lo mai fan), a glutinous rice with Chinese sausage. This was hands down my favorite dish out of everything that we got, even over honey walnut prawns and pan fried noodles. I'm usually really lazy to crack open crab legs but I couldn't help but dig in because the flavors meshed so well together with the sticky rice. In terms of the other dishes, they were delicious but nothing you can't get elsewhere in a different Chinese restaurant, but I do recommend getting your wonton noodles here and if you can spare the time, absolutely try their crab and sticky rice, the two things they are known for.

    Parking is a hit or a miss as it is shared with other stores and restaurants in a plaza. Service was quick and efficient. Outside looks small but it is very open and spacious inside. the booth or tables are divided well and does not make anyone feel cramped. Food portion is big. Big plate, lots of food. Beef Chow Fun ($19.95) - has good wok hay. Lots of noodles and had lots of slices of beef which is good. It is not super oily either. Salted Fish and Chicken Fried Rice (20.95) - Salty, Savory and Satisfying. Hits all the components of what a Salty Fish Fried Rice should be. We added loads of white pepper and that made the dish even more better! Pork Ribs in Peking Sauce ($20.95) - Big chunks of pork chop/ribs in a red sweet/savory sauce. Meat wasn't think or pounded out. It was chunky which made it even more better. Green Beans with Chicken ($20.95) - Was more like chicken with green beans but that means more protiens!. Dish is very good. Got the crunch from the green beans, the soft and tender chicken and the sauce coating the beans and chicken to tie it together. Shrimp Wonton Soup ($12.95) - 10 BIG shrimp wontons! Although there was only 10, it was enough for 4 ppl. Broth was very salty though even with a good amount of white pepper mixed into it.

    Key points: - An amazing gem: delicious authentic Cantonese style cuisine that's NOT dim sum - Must try the salt and pepper pork Came here to Grand Café with The Fam and my folks before heading out to see Christmas lights with The Little One. Our friends have been raving about this place for a while. We recently discovered Hong Kong Café on the other side of Dublin and thought it was solid Cantonese-style cuisine, but our friends insisted Grand Café was better. I'm really glad we tried this place because I might have to concede that they might be right. My parents ordered most if not all their classic favorites and were very happy, which it's saying a lot. The Food: - Salt-and-pepper pork: crispy, savory, lightly spicy, and absolutely succulent. My favorite of the meal. - chef's combination platter, medium: included two meats and the medium comes with sides of seaweed salad and mini octopus (octopi? ). We chose roast duck, roast pork. The Little One got a kick seeing out of seeing tiny octopi on her plate, but ultimately didn't want to eat it. I really enjoyed the duck. So hard to mess that up. The roast pork, though, was lacking in crispiness, and felt a bit fattier and chewier than I prefer. Normally I love roast pork, so this one just didn't quite hit the spot for me. - tomato beef pan-fried noodles: I don't usually order this combination with tomato beef, but it was listed as a popular dish on Yelp. I actually enjoyed it. the beef was tender, and the sauce had a pleasant, slightly sweet flavor. That said, the sauce softened the crispy noodles quite a bit, which turned the picky Little One off a bit from eating it. - Honey walnut shrimp/prawns: one of my childhood favorites and still currently one of my wife's favorites. The Little One likes walnuts too. Can't go wrong with this dish. - Sampan jook/congee/porridge (tang jai jook): my dad's favorite and it was excellent. Paired with... - Chinese donut wrapped in noodles (zhaliang): quite the classic comforting, combo. Overall, an excellent meal, and my parents were kind enough to treat us. They asked for a paper menu to take home, which means they like it a lot. We'll definitely be back. Giving this 4 stars, which matches their current rating. I hear 3.5 is the sweet spot for Chinese food, so hopefully the higher star rating doesn't hurt them

    We stumbled across this restaurant on our drive back home. The food here is solid. Service was friendly. The chicken and green beans were delicious. We also ordered the Hong Kong style chow mein and that was also good. I liked the complimentary red bean dessert. It brought me back to how Chinese restaurants offered this dessert back in the day. The nostalgia was reminiscent of my youthful days. Overall, I would definitely visit this establishment should I be in the area and craving Chinese food.

    This place is my in-law's favorite restaurant. Service is good. Food is awesome as usual. Tried their Hainan Chicken Rice plate this time. Chicken is very well made, rice is good, but they only give ginger scallion as the dipping sauce, can't say it is fully authentic Hainan Chicken Rice. After all, this is not only my in-law's favorite, it is also one of my favorite too. Downside is parking is very limited, although there's plenty of parking across on Target side, but crossing that busy road is not fun at all

    Service: Attentive. Place is spacious and we got seated right away since we also came at an odd time. Overall, the vaule is reasonable as far as taste of the food and portion. Fish congee was my favorite dish.

    Authentic Cantonese cuisine! Best place to get delicious roast pork belly (crispy top layer, juicy white pork meat). They offer the best congee in the bay! I highly recommend their congee with abalone and chicken. Slices of real abalone with soft pieces of fresh boneless chicken!

It came with cucumbers, quail eggs, and fungus. I ate everything except the fungus. It had a very unique flavor that I just couldn't get into. Overall it wasn't bad, but I've definitely had better Hainan chicken elsewhere, so I'm not sure if I'd come back again.

We ordered the soup dumplings with fish mew in high soup . It tasted great . Many restaurants don't have this item or they made it not as good . I wan impressed when we asked for small ceramic bowl to share the food , they gave us two heated bowls . Just like you wanted beer in the club and they gave you an iced mug . To keep the high soup and soup dumplings in high temperatures, it tasted better . So you dominates to wait , just walk up to the check in counter and bring seated . I usually make my reservations 3 days in advance to make sure I can get the large table. Each time father dinning , this Koi Palace give you a coupon ( % of your total price of the meal ) and you have 14 days to use it to pay for the next meal here . What a wonderful idea !     Both service and food quality have gone down in recent years. We went for dinner on a Friday…read morenight. The place was only about 1/3 full (should've left with that obvious clue). We ordered oolong tea, which was just a tea bag in a pot. That alone is OK. However, we suspect that the tea bag was reused, as there was no flavor in the tea and the color was way too light. I informed our waiter. They said it was because the pot didn't have enough hot water, so they filled up the pot with hot water. I said wouldn't that further dilute the tea? They said no, just give it some time. There were 3 of us. We ordered 6 dishes. By the time we're almost done, the tea was still of a light yellowish color. I finally asked the manager. He apologized and replaced the tea bag with 2 new ones. The tea finally had some flavor, but we were done with dinner by then. But that's not the most disappointing thing. One of the dishes we ordered was a pepper-n-salt fish. This is a common dish. It wasn't on the menu but based on previous dining experience at this very restaurant, we knew they could make it. It came with 6 bite-sized fillet, reasonably tasty. The surprise came when we got the bill. They charged us $42 for the dish. Most dishes are $28 or less unless it's fresh seafood (i.e., taken from their live seafood tanks). I probably should've said something but decided it wasn't worth it. Oh, they charged an 18% gratuity and asked for "additional tips" on the bill. I've eaten here plenty of times and they never charged upfront gratuity for a 3-person table. Must be a recent change. That by itself is OK IMO, as long as it is clearly stated in the menu. But it's not. I normally give 20%. But this time I put a line through the "additional tips" line.

I think I like BBQ Pork and Dry Shrimp separate more. Shrimp Rice Noodle Roll ($9.00): One of the classics, and will always be my number one pick! I prefer my rice rolls to not have lettuce in them though. Dough Stick Rice Noodle Roll ($7.95): I thought that the dough stick could have been fresher, it was a bit stale by the time we ate it. Pork and Gold Preserved Egg Congee ($7.50): Really well flavored, and good amount of pork and egg. The consistency is thicker than I'm used to but it's still good. Shrimp Wonton Soup ($11.75): Nice clean broth, and the wontons were nicely seasoned. I do wish there was more soup. Shrimp Dumplings ($7.25): We just wanted to try these, and honestly they were just OK. Skin fell apart pretty easily but the shrimp was big. Fried Sesame Balls ($6.00): Also just OK. I recommend a lighter tea for lite drinkers like Chrysanthemum tea ie flower steeped, no caffeine and floral. However, if you want a bold tea try "Bo lay" black tea for lightly sipping when eating lots and lots of heavy food. Upstairs is the Koi Palace which has lunch dim sum and fancy dinner banquet. We ordered the won ton with rice noodle 雲吞河粉( Ho fun) in soup , half a steamed Hainanese chicken . 海南雞 The won ton was served in 5-8 minutes but it took 20 minutes to serve the chicken . The chicken was fresher made and it tasted delicious. They do charge 18 % service charge automatically. Good ambience, good customers service and food quality are guaranteed. It is not the cheapest in town but it save you a trip to drive to the West bay and cross the San Mateo bridge .
